President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a new batch of F-16 fighters from a Western European country has arrived in Ukraine. During a press conference on March 19, Zelensky stated that the delivery involved several aircraft, though he did not disclose the exact number, reports Kyiv Independent.

Some good news reported today. Apparently the Ukrainians have found a way to neutralize the glide bomb threat which was making holding ground almost impossible. Not much detail given and it's hard to imagine how as these are longer range large 'Dumb' bombs dropped from an aircraft from a safe distance. Great if true.
There was a good Forbes article i posted about that few pages back with some technical detail (tldr jamming)
Now takes them 16 bombs where they had to use one, which means 8-10x the flights to achieve same result

It's an electronic warfare system, like an advanced jammer. Sends them plunging into the countryside instead of targets. It now takes 16 glide bombs to hit one target.

why the feck should the whole European Union of a couple of 100 million of people suffer more taxes per head to pay for defence, just because of one MAN yes 1 man ?????? Why not take Putin out ?.. Taking Putin out isn’t simple because he’s heavily protected, constantly moving with tight security. Even if he were removed, someone just as bad or worse could replace him. Russia also has a large nuclear arsenal, so any external attempt could escalate dangerously. Officially, world leaders avoid assassination as it sets a risky precedent. Additionally, removing him could backfire by rallying Russians around his successor, making the situation worse. In short, while it’s frustrating, the consequences of taking such drastic action are far too complicated and dangerous.
Maybe put something in his tea…….

In Russia they have a parliament. The upper house is the Federation Council, and the lower house is the State Duma.
Afaik, Putin has parliament backing and he is actually a centrist in Russia so taking him out might lead to someone even more psychopathic taking over.
Americans killed about a million Iraqis and started with shock and awe but Russians under Putin have so far avoided large scale civilian massacres like we see and saw in Gaza/ Iraq.
The next guy in charge in Russia if Putin was killed could release non nuclear weapons that would completely obliterate kyiv etc. with no regard for civilians or at least that's my take, it's Russia at war not Putin forcing Russia to go to war.

Because as bad as Putin is, he also keeps a lot of the more fanatical people in Russia in check.
Plus even for China, Russia, The US there are some rules that do not get broken - assassinating leaders of the big 3 is one of them.
Putin is a dictator and the "parliament" is a rubber stamping mechanism for his decrees. No one knows who would take over he is died or was killed but it's likely it would be a member of his inner circle, the Siloviki, probably Bortnikov or Shoigu or Patrushev
Americans didn't target civilians in the Iraq war (although there were isolated incidents like e.g. Haditha), the majority of casualties were indirect or as the result of knock-on effects (e.g. insurgent activity).
The invasion of Ukraine by Putin is a different war entirely. Putin is there to conquer the country, to subjugate it's people, to erase their identity and culture, to force them to speak Russian. He is deliberately targeting all energy infrastructure (not selectively) over years in order to put pressure on the people and the military, POWs are being systematically tortured and executed, civilians are directly targeted and killed deliberately and purposefully, hospitals and medical facilities have been directly targeted, evacuation routes, children have been systematically kidnapped and trafficked.
As mentioned many times your posts have a repeated theme of attempting to downplay that, or whatabout it or directly parrot Kremlin state propaganda or talking points.
Yeah, call me cynical, or even paranoid, but my first thought was "Putin/Russia hybrid war". A demonstration to the UK, vocal in their support of Ukraine, that small actions against them can have large consequences.
Speaking as a British, I hope it was done by Russia. I know that will harden resolve and increase support.

I don't think it'll make any difference if it is ever proven to be them, other than perhaps step up efforts playing defence.
Seems more or less accepted/normalised as a cost of doing business across Europe now, and a Trump led USA won't react and might even be pleased by it to an extent so long as it is not affecting the "homeland".
We'll see what happens if Russia f-cks up to an extent (or even goes for another salami slice/escalation, because why not!) and actually causes a large number of injuries and deaths somewhere in Europe with one of these actions.

Just for clarification , when you say Russia I assume you mean The Russian Federation - which is comprised of a number of ‘ COMPLIANT Oblasts, republics, etc.
