I wonder how this will work out for him

Tbh I'm amazed that Issac stayed quiet after being warned by the judge in today's hearing, according to the report.
He might be getting flashbacks of his American adventure.
His qualifications are in mathematics, so maybe he started counting up what possible fines would have on his bank balance and decided it was best to stay shtum. He made his disruptions and protests, that's all that mattered.
Is it possible for a receiver to be appointed to collect the legal fees Enoch owes as well?
Can his salary not be stopped, can he be fired or could he sue if fired? Is what he done a breach of his employment, like hitting the principal?
I'd say he's in big trouble with Mammy over this.
I'm hopeful that the receiver working on behalf of the state in this case will have the matter of fees covered already so nothing in EB's account is reduced by the receivers fees.
That would need WHS to pursue him. They were awarded costs against EB on at least one occasion that I know of, but there has been no further publicity about this. There is of course the possibility that he paid up, or more likely that the school are just biding their time. If it is the case that he hasn’t paid and won’t pay, the ball is in the school’s court to pursue him.
He had no option really as the judge clearly was in no mood for their bs. It was either shut-up or get flung out.
Having no option has never stopped them before - usually they do get flung out!
The fact that he stayed silent after the Judge specifically said that by staying silent he'd consider him to to be purging is the first time I can ever remember one of the Burke's going along to even the slightest extent with a judge's pronouncement about anything that they disagreed with.
Well she was there as well, but kept very quiet. Must be the jetlag.
Costs were awarded in the case today (the school and the department were separated represented). Any IT article after any spurious appeal made by EB that I've read has mentioned costs awarded, so they must be very high at this stage.
No dispute about costs being awarded against him in more of his cases, I just wasn’t bothered looking them up. One example was enough to prove that he has a liability. The point is, to answer your original question, nothing can be done unless the party with the claim, e.g. WHS returns, to court to pursue him in face of a refusal to pay by him. That hasn’t happened as far to the best of my knowledge and I’m not aware of any publicity about a refusal to pay by him.
It was a very interesting tactic by the judge, allowing him to purge contempt by NOT doing something, as opposed to the usual 'doing something'. I wonder did this make it easier for Burke to comply, or did it actually infuriate Burke further?
I'm liking this judge already. Seems to be a no nonsense guy that thinks on his feet rather than relying completely on consulting the rulebook.
Well, Enoch could purge by not turning up at the school.
is enoch still going to the school every day?
From the Extra.ie website…
Enoch Burke has had his bank account frozen as the High Court moves to allow his outstanding fines of almost €80,000 to be deducted from his teacher’s salary.
Mr Burke, who did not attend court yesterday, has been given one last chance next Tuesday to argue why this should not be allowed to happen.
Yeah as reported on RTÉ News yesterday - if he has a valid legal reason (I assume one of his siblings will be representing him) then they better make a good job of clearly outlining these legal reasons as opposed to shouting at the judge which will get them nowhere- clearly this judge means business and he won’t tolerate nonsense in his court. However, if there ARE legal reasons that may need to be referred to a higher court, then that’s a whole other legal avenue that will take possibly years to work through
I don't know why he is being given a hearing next Tuesday while he is still in contempt of court. He should have to purge first before he is allowed to access the court in any way, shape or form.
He is not in contempt of court for his behaviour in the court. He is in contempt for not obeying the order to stay away from the school.
He's been ignoring a court order for years. Any solicitor worth their salt would have been able to advise him about this as a possibilty. I am absolutely delighted for him. It had to happen. He was suspended and still getting paid and who's to know what goes through his mind. He could have been protesting just to keep all this going. Someone had to put a stop to it. It should have been done ages ago.
I saw him in the news back in January. It did look like he was nearly in tears and at breaking point so this should be it now I hope from him.
Anyone else would have put their head down and worked hard and just got on with things but they kept revolting and protesting and building fines.
It was mentioned in one of the reports about the other four going to Washington that Enoch couldn't make the trip as he was going to WHS every day, however I have no idea whether this was an accurate statement of fact or just convenient conjecture by some lazy journalist.
Revolting indeed
how it is conjecture? It’s common flipping sense that’s why!
He doesn’t even attend court unless he HAS to for god sake.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Belly full of laughs with this.
There was some rant from an Enoch fan on twitter about the Irish government about Enoch.
The Irish government has nothing whatsoever to do with the mess Enoch finds himself in.
The school used civil law to ask him to stay away from harassing the school. He has ignored the court order time and time and time again and built up fines. Nobody forced Enoch to ignore the court order and build up fines.
Idiots on Twitter don't know the difference between the Govt and our independent court system
indo today he has 40K in the frozen bank account. No idea how it works, can they seize it all or do they need to leave a certain amount, same with the salary how much can they take from each pay cheque presumably under normal circumstances it’s done to leave the person with enough to live on etc
