Zelesnky should just cut all ties with Trump

No chance unless and until he's absolutely sure

the US is out of the game

Trump will never get over Biden beating him in 2020.

Biden supported Ukraine, Trump will do the opposite out of spite.

Unfortunately for Ukraine they are the ones in the firing line.

Hes too liberal for the Dems. Just shows you how crazy US politics is when Bernie is too extreme for your supposedly left wing party.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,700 ✭✭✭Padre_Pio

The Democrats would be centre right by Irish standards I think.

What is the idea of this? To western eyes it looks like these party officials are trolling these women but obviously that can't be it. Is it like "Yeah even though the meat grinder is a derogatory western label we embrace it as a blunt-but-effective military tactic and these guys were proud to throw themselves into it"?

He admires Putin and wants Putin to admire him.* Whereas Trump hates Zelenskyy after not providing him with made-up **** on the Bidens. It's really that simple. The people of Ukraine are immaterial to him.

*Putin has nothing but contempt for Trump but is benefitting from playing him along.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,390 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Don't know if it's trolling, but they hand out these absurd "gifts", some wives and widows were receiving a bag of potatoes.

It highlights the extreme backwardness and poverty in parts of the country, which is where Putin conveniently gets his cannon fodder.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Indeed- look where “cosying up” has got us.

The rule book for international relations is being rewritten - Europe needs to identify its true friends now - IF the Ukraine war ends or a truce is implemented- far from certain - I reckon Trump will then concentrate on opening markets with Russia again - something the EU won’t be in favour of- I think that’s when the sh1t will really hit the fan

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

I don’t think it’s trolling, I think they are deliberately trying to manipulate search engine algorithms

As the word “meatgrinder” they themselves coined for their own “meat” (another word they themselves coined for their own) one could say … cuts a bit close to the bone

and there lies the problem for Trump, Russians won’t negotiate as they have no intentions of wrapping up the war they started and for Ukrainians negotiations means complete capitulation now followed by decades of poverty, rape, and millions exterminated

I said few pages earlier by giving everything to Russia trump just lost any leverage he might have had

All stick and zero carrots and guarantees of future stick is not a recipe for peace

Crazy how only just recently we were thinking Kursk would last another 6 months. The Trump effect. Pity he didn't want to turn Kursk into the Riviera of Russia.

I they think Ukraine is going to have to negotiate a peace treaty with Putin.

Trump is on putins side he has stopped even giving satellite data to Ukraine They, would have to get massive aid from the EU to even stand a chance of keeping the land they have now .eg billions of aid missiles bombs that's probably not going to happen

900k Russian troops have died and putin is launching new attacks in ukraines power infrastructure

whoda thunk it would take a gang of extreme capitalist pigs (Trumpy the carnival show man, fascist tech oligarchs, mega rich Republican politicians) to make wildest dreams and fantasies of European "Commie" pro Putin nuts left over from the Cold war come true.

Throwing Ukraine to Russian wolves, and (IMO) holing a US led NATO / US military involvement in European defence below the waterline as well…all of their Christmases come at once.

It's also possible that they're not actually the mothers of soldiers but party actors, there for the staged shoot.

Poland was very pro-Trump in 2016-20 and Trump even addressed a huge rally of tens of thousands of Polish people on one of his visits there. This is really cretinous behaviour.

that was the time when NATO , etc, etc, etc, was VERY pro Europe , etc, etc, etc,etc and everything was going ‘ swimmingly’ in that direction

US satellite companies stopping supplying Ukraine data and information that is already bought and paid for.

US satellite companies instead supplying the bought and paid for by Ukraine sat access to the Russian and North Korean military to use against Ukraine.

Is that where we are now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,306 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Trump removing the Kursk card from Ukraine while empowering Russia. Putin will be happy to agree a pause if it means he keeps current territory and next time a democrat gets in he'll go for more.

Tbh Ukraine with the Trump situation might settle for a ceasefire during his term and wait it out until a pro Ukrainian US president returns.

Obviously best scenario would have been a US president helping now to turn the tide but that's not the reality.

Plus the Ukrainians have been fighting this war since before the first Trump presidency. The difference now is that Trump II's deference to Putin has ignited a coordinated military European effort to fill the void left by the USA.

Edit to add, although losing US support now might be a setback, having a solidified European posture against present and future threats from Russia is far better than relying on a USA that could have been pulled away in the even of another middle east adventure.

Yes, it looks like Maxar is supplying images to the Orcs they shouldn't, but some sources claim Ukraine can still get images by paying. They are also getting images from multiple other sources, such as French and UK military satellites.

I suspect the biggest issue is likely to be image analysis tools I surmise the US have that others don't.

Ukraine retains access to Maxar satellite images: what is known about the new conditions

The TVIS company, which is the official distributor of the American company Maxar in Ukraine and a supplier of high-resolution satellite images, continues to provide services to authorized Ukrainian users. But only for money.

Thus, Ukrainian intelligence, which previously received such photos for free (or rather, they were paid for by the US government), may continue to receive them - subject to payment.

Anyways, interesting tidbit on newstalk this morning, they said Irish central bank is sitting on 2bn euro of Russian assets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,194 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Okay but the question remains as to what those staging the scene are hoping to achieve. If they are actors I actually think it's even more likely the thing is some sort of F.U. to the West and Ukraine…

The EU extend the freezing of the assets for 6 months, every 6 months, and requires unanimous approval from all EU states to do so.

To date even Hungary & Slovakia were a part of that unanimous decision, but now with Trump running the show, perhaps they might be emboldened to not agree…. And if they do the funds are unlocked and Russia can get them back immediately.

There were reports yesterday from Ukrainians on front that anytime they switch on starlink terminals Russian drones arrive at location

Which has disturbing implications as that POS Musk cant be trusted

There was a very interesting interview with Sir Bill Browder of the Magnitsky act fame on this subject last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,632 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Funnily enough that's where I heard it… as I didn't finish listening over the weekend and only managed to finish this morning… but yeah, sounds like we need to move fast as the next renewal is July, by which point Hungary & Slovakia might be told to block it…

    Now this is interesting…

A U.S. tanker, the 'Stena Immaculate', one of a fleet of 10 with a contract to supply the U.S. Armed forces with fuel, which was at anchor off the coast of The Humber estuary on England's east coast was T-Boned by a Portuguese container ship 'Solong' at full speed (15kts) and as a result, both ships went on fire.

    https://www.rte.ie/news/uk/2025/0310/1501216-tanker/

Even though there was some light fog, it should be incredibly difficult for something like this to happen by accident!

1st thoughts were Russia, then 2nd thoughts were the U.S. (false flag)… but conspiracies aside, a very odd event.
