Why did the US not just refrain from the U.N. vote - or does it want to DRIVE IT HOME TO ALL AND SUNDRY AND IN THE MOST PUBLIC OF WAYS THAT HE /US IS IN THE POCKET OF THE RUSSIANS
It's a shìt show and we're heading for war in 3 to 5yrs. Quite possibly with the Americans and Russians.
There's a golden opportunity to stop that and it's right now but as usual we'll fcuk it up whilst they try to keep pushing the fantasy of ever increasing economies. Europe is once again about to become the earth's battlefield
600 of the 24 hours that Trump has said that he would end the war in have already been taken up - and counting!!!!!!!! . IMO , Trump is the only man that can explain that ‘apparent discrepancy’
I dont think that's true. Everyone knew what Trump was and what he was capable of long before they voted for him. Saying they wouldn't vote for him now is just letting idiots off the hook. The whole world told them and were told to go and cry you libtards.

There has been three MAJOR UNINTENDENCE consequences of the war that Putin will not be happy with
(1) Sweden and Finland Joining NATO
(2) the EU coming together as a more cohesive grouping with more coordination , more networking, more joined up thinking , etc, etc, mostly as a result of The US /Trump behaviour
(3) even though there are many, factions / ‘schools of thought/ , political parties/ religions , etc, in UKr and there has been a lot of clashes, civil war type wars over the last 1000 years in the general Ukarnian landmass The ONE THINK THAT THEY ALL WANTED WAS THEIR OWN ‘SOVEREIGN STATE’ called Ukraine. The war has managed to reinforce that desire in the UKr people and that is what IS DRIVING THEM - what a powerful ingredient to have while defending one’s nation
Must be very tough on the frontlines, knowing that maybe some sort of truce or peace is possibly in the works, but having to fight and risk their lives so close to it

Ukraine is fighting both the US and Russia. Russia wants its land and America wants to take its mineral wealth. Who would ever have thought Russia and America would unite to raid a european country.

was it late 2023 that the war was at a critical injuncture and a package was being organised by Biden to keep the Ukrarmy supplied but because it WAS DELAYED the UKr lost the momentum/initiative and the package eventually started to arrive circa June 2024 . IT WAS HELD UP BY THE REPUBLICANS IN THE HOUSE AT THE BEHEST OF TRUMP. There is also that the instructions from The US that it did not want its arnaments ending up targeting areas o the Russian mainland and was NOT HAPPY with UKr bombing fuel oil refining/pumping facilities in Russia.
CONCLUSION
All of the above now makes ‘perfect sence’ given the side that TRUMP/the US is now on
So Macron is saying possible ceasefire within weeks. This can only mean that Russia will be keeping the stolen territory, as i and others have predicted for the last two years. Disgrace, but not surprising. Then what? Sanctions lifted, Russia welcomed back into the international community, switch the gas back on?
And what does Ukraine get in return? A few European peace keepers with no combat experience who are supposed to ensure this never happens again? Their refugees told to leave the EU because it's "peaceful" back home?

It's very naive to think admitting that would have kept Trump out of office. He is a one man political cult and his followers will accept anything he does while those in his party who disagree are mostly too cowardly to speak out

A lot of independent voters would not have swung to Trump if they had seen this supplication. I know we saw it at Helsinki but Putin was still half acceptable at that stage. Not many were predicting such blatant one sidedness with regard the conflict . The Natrative was that he was going to be tough on Putin and Zelensky. I had to listen to some scutter in the run up to the election about how he was going to handle Putin like a boss.
Well, if I had been there and my government had instructed me which way to vote, but my heart & head told me to vote another way, my finger might have slipped too.

Hard to keep up with the world at the mo ,us voting against the un resolution against Russia, first time ,and now rumours of us /russ/(as a poster said earlier) business interests in Ukraine ,must mean us mining in Russia occupied areas of the west of the country ,WTF.
There's a lot of catharsis to be had in seeing Trump get corrected like that, but I don't know if the best time for it to happen is when you're trying to convince him to help facilitate a deal to end that war with more equitable terms for Ukraine. I have been thinking that myself recently in terms of one of the consequences of not being able to trust the US anymore we simply cannot be sharing intelligence with them any more or maybe feed them false intelligence if it comes to some Ukrainian military plans and watch if that gets fed to the Russian dictatorship.
All signs are Zelensky won't sign unless he gets a serious commitment in that regard
