That’s our title!!!
Excellent performance and good practice on how we will need to play in stretches to advance in the Champions League.
A 2-0 home and Away double for Liverpool - looked like they are a level above City.
11 points clear at the top is a fantastic situation for Liverpool to be in.
Salah with a goal and an assist - 11th time he has done it this season I think - incredible.
'We're Going To Win The League' was the cry from the travelling support - can't blame them.
Game week 26 table
Another impressive performance from Liverpool today. They will be very deserved champions, by far the most consistent and controlled team in the league this season.
safe to say the season is over for arsenal and city
City need to grind hard to finish in the top 4 / 5
He was right. We did. There was a shot of him in the stands.
Though to be fair, I'd rather not see or hear from Carragher or Neville ever again. They've become unbearable.
Huh? They're still in other competitions and this one isn't done yet for Arsenal, or anyone else for that matter. There's still 12 games for them to play.
Absolutely no shade on Liverpool but the rest have been abysmal. Credit to the Liverpool board for appointing Slot in the summer - they've got a gem there.
That was Daniel Sturridge
The trick now is to keep it going next season when some of these established players leave.
Nobody else turned up this season in the title race but that's not Liverpools problem.
Salah is the best player in the world. He should win the Ballon Dor. It's not over yet but if Liverpool beat Newcastle and Arsenal fail to beat NF then it truly will be.
City are in a very interesting place. They're absolutely miles off Liverpool levels as things stand, and I know they have money to spend to rectify it. But, how motivated will a squad full of new players be, playing under a manager in his final season next year?
There's no way I can see them getting back to previous levels, and winning it with 95 odd points as they have done for so many years.
Ah the "it's a weak league this year" narrative is starting
Everyone did their job well in the second half. Great stuff lads. One game at a time.
Which pundit said that? Absolute clueless. 😂😂😂
I switched it off 5 mins ago
Exactly.
We play the winners from Newcastle v Forest today midweek while Arsenal play the losers
Plus they still have a game in hand
One game at a time
The season was over at the end of January when no CF was brought in. Then further injuries to strikers confirmed it. They should have bought a CF 3 years ago. Arteta saying that he was happy with the squad all along is just bull****.
So what?
It was a weak league in Fergusons final season at United, I still enjoyed us winning the league.
No need to be so defensive about it, sometimes the league is weak, not Liverpools problem at all, just enjoy it. It's bloody February and bookies are paying out on Liverpool winning the league, put your feet up and enjoy it.
There never was and never will be a “weak league”. A large proportion of the top players in the World play in England. The alleged best manager in the World manages in England. Whoever wins the league deserves to win the league- there has never been an exception to this.
I completely agree - it makes no **** odds to me how early we win a title. We broke City in 2019/20 with that opening run of consecutive wins. This year Arsenal and City just haven’t been able to muster a real challenge. Liverpool fans have nothing to apologise for here - two record 2nd place points totals. Fully entitled to a less dominant title.
It's not over yet!
But if we do win you absolutely will not have to worry about me enjoying it!
Feels like a massive win today, City away was a puzzle we just seemed to never be able to crack. Today we got dominated there in possession, as usual, but controlled much better than usual and restricted them to lower quality chances. Foden wasn't a worry like he normally is.
Even with a fully fit squad I'd have doubts about Arteta's ability to get a team over the line in first. There is just something about that side and pressure situations that just don't mix.
That's just not the case.
It's happened plenty of times, the league isn't weak compared to other leagues it's just not at its most competitive.
They handled that pressure quite well this year with a full squad. The injuries to 4 strikers and 2 defenders meant that most of the squad was over-played with some getting no rest at all. It took Ferguson 7/8 years to win a league with United so Arteta has a bit left but time is catching him up for sure.
Id say Arsenals slow deliberate play is a bigger issue this season than no no. 9 in January. They've just been so safe with the backwards and sideways passing it's very hard to break anyone down that way.
We've been saying that on our own thread for ages. Boring slow football.
I'm just waiting for Arsenal fans to start with their "Arteta Out" campaign.
Was the stadium full today ? It didn't look it at the start
City have dropped off the pace this season. Apart from that it's business as usual. Arsenal floundering, Chelsea inconsistent, Spurs poor, Utd poor.
City will be back unless they get docked points next season.
