The Hyundai INSTER sub-compact EV with 355km range will be officially released later this month. It was teased today and based on the CASPER ICE model available in some markets. Thoughts?
Is the V2L option on all Hyundai? I've an Ioniq 5 and don't think I have an option but plugging the adapter into the charge port just works for V2L.
Yes can confirm it has V2L with exterior adapter, I connected the adapter and it works perfect. Also on the way back form the dealership my route was 96km and used 100km of battery range with both seats heating and temp. set to 23 degrees. Very happy with that.
do you mind sharing what adapter you have, please.
I picked up my Inster from the main dealer today and they demonstrated it to me on my car. they said I can order one for 300 euro but I dont need it.
Charles Hurst in Belfast told me maybe April.?
Is this an Elegance or a Signature please?
the 42kW one has 327Km WLTP range. thought it was 300km from the ads
mine is doing 250-260 in current weather of mixed driving. 300km in the summer is probably what it will be realistically
Really awesome to hear somebody was able to confirm it! I was in with my dealer today and one guy said 100%, absolutely, definitely, it doesn't have it and it won't work in Ireland. Then a few minutes later, another guy I asked said yep, no problem, €300 adapter and you're off.
Out of curiosity, I see V2L settings aren't popping up in the menu by default at least - mentioned in this video too. Did they pop up for you after inserting the adapter or anything like that? Thanks!
Has anyone seen a model with the blue or orange paintwork in a dealer near Dublin?
To be honest I did not look inside the car, I was outside when the lady connected it, But she did say that they will be available as an accessory March/April for three hundred euro along with a software update.
I have one of the official Hyundai V2L external adapters for my Ioniqs 5 so if there's anyone with an Inster in Wexford who wants to test it your free to try mine.
Elegance model
Elegance Model
Thank you. We ordered a Signature. I'm hoping it'll also work with our Ioniq 5's V2L adapter.
Watched an Irish Inster podcast and think the man said the UK model came with a "digital" key, think you can start the engine with it?
I'm not a fan,and worry about the key situation in modern cars.
Hope there are two keys, I am hopeless at leaving my black key amost the host of other black tech.
I recently asked the dealer about the cost of a Renault Zoe replacement key.
The key has to come from France, the car has to go to the dealership to be handshakesd with the car, £460.
I just saw an insurance quote for car key replacement,£1200.
Makes you think things may be getting over complicated?
Digital key is your phone. You generally need both physical keys to set up the digital key and activate it. Means you don't have to carry physical keys with you and so aren't likely to lose them and need to replace.
On my Elegance spec you can lock and unlock remotely but can't start the car
The heating is excellent - much better than my only other EV point of comparison, our Nissan Ariya. It heats up very quickly in comparison to any ice car I've driven and the heated seats and steering wheel work very well. My only very minor quibbles are that the seat heat level doesn't go low enough and the heated steering wheel button is awkwardly positioned.
I find this all the time the knowledge of the sales guys on the product they are selling is very poor in Irish main dealers I have been given false information on several occasions
The V2L is in utility mode just found it
I see you still have the screen protector on🙂
I'm pretty sure that's not related to V2L. That's when you're parked up and running the internal lights, charging phone etc off the HV battery rather than the 12v.
It's the same mode as used in the other Hyundais and Kias that support V2L.
Internal V2L?
Don't even know what that is? The idea of utility mode when using V2L is that the car doesn't turn off and provides power through the charge port. That's what it does. The adaptor then provides the power to your appliances.
Some Ioniq 5 had an internal 3 pin socket which could be used for V2L as far as I know. Then you can have your external adapter that plugs into the charge port to give an external 3 pin socket.
The manual says different. You use this to set the maximum battery discharge to alliw V2L to use so that you can atill make it to a charger.
No, our Kia e-Niro did have utility mode, but didn't have V2L.
Our Ioniq 5 does have V2L and utility mode and the two are completely different. (I also never went into any menu about V2L - you plug it in and press a button on the adapter - then V2L stuff comes up automatically on the dashboard)
I checked the Ioniq 5 to see where does V2L show up without V2L being plugged in.
The Inster may have the same UI layout (these Kia/Hyundai cars tend to)
So go to Settings/EV:
Press the V2L button at the bottom right corner (if any):
