Got to hand it to them, Everton putting a photo of the current Arsenal manager celebrating scoring a goal against Liverpool as the cover of their programme today is 👌 excellent banter
Up there with calling their club store at the Liverpool One Shopping Centre "Everton Two" so that the postal address is "Everton Two, Liverpool One"
Not sure if this is sarcasm…
Not at all! I chuckled at seeing the Arteta pic. I love visiting Liverpool, Liverpudlians are terrific. Some of them just happen to support the wrong team but outside of the 90mins I've no issues with them, proper banter and none of the tradegy nonsense or poverty shaming.
City's Rodri tifo came across as more petty than funny, Arteta scoring at Goodison was a pretty hilarious call to put on the cover
And if Liverpool win the league I’m sure plenty will be saying how’s it’s been the WeAkeSt LeAgUe iN yEaRs, can’t win can they…
Everton are ahead against Liverpool. Beto the goalscorer.
Everton's lead lasted all of 4 minutes. McAllister with a headed goal to equalise.
Having seen more replays of the Everton free kick that led to their goal, there was no foul committed.
Gravenberch improving does not mean the whole team has improved. His improvement is partly down to age and acclimatization and also his position seems to have changed too. He seems more mature this season and not really just a long legged deer striding around.
What other players in the Liverpool squad have improved? Because they didn't buy anyone to improve the team. They have largely been playing to the same high level this season that they were last season up until this point.
I'm not sure why I bother as I am obviously responding to a person who rarely watches Liverpool play.
Liverpool as a team are clearly improved from last season (that's not to say they weren't good last season, especially in the first half of it). Gravenberch is levels above last season. Szoboszlai is levels above last season. Gakpo is levels above last season.
The midfield unit is now one of the best in all of Europe, that would include Jones coming in and out of the starting 11. I could go on and on, but genuinely what's the point.
How many phantom free kicks has the referee given? I've counted at least 3, all against Liverpool.
some of the dives are so blatant also, if the ref is going to give them then the Everton players should carry on
Michael Oliver is dying to send off someone in this match. A few questionable calls and questionable yellow cards too.
Well he could have sent off Gueye if he wanted to
And the Everton fans boo him off!
In fairness he's been brutal across the board. Nearly like he's reffing the game he planned to beforehand not the one unfolding in front of him. He's overthought the occasion.
Other than the goals very little to talk about. Everton's best attacking player this season goes off injured. Liverpool's midfield fail to show up.
Jones and Núñez double swap at around 57/58mins I reckon. Tsimikas after that. Maybe see Trent at the end.
Also how ridiculously quiet is Goodison?? Not only is it their last derby there, but it's also likely the latest kick off of all remaining games, don't think they'll have another night time kick off. Should be hopping but it's so flat. Can hear Liverpool fans singing songs throughout that half!
You don't think Salah has improved since last season??
He's having his best season since 2017/18, maybe even better! People were talking about ballon d'Or in a thread here earlier, he's clearly improved
In what manner do you think they have improved?
As a collective, I don't think they have improved from an attacking sense. They have a fit Salah for the entirity of this season alright though. Gakpo is playing better but Nunez is not involved this season so somewhat balanced off.
The midfield change seems to be more from a different tactical set up to that of actually playing better. Maybe this is what you're referring to. They have changed how they play in midfield with more of a slower pace and more control wanted, as opposed to be more quick paced direct passing style.
Konate is having a much better season than last year alright but he has played to this level in previous seasons at times. Alisson is not at his previous levels at all, and Robertson is much worse. I think overall the defence is much of a muchness and no real improvement. Availability is higher again though in defence even in Alisson missed a high number of games again.
No he's not. Salah was great last year and has been great last year. This has been Salah for a number of years with the all round game. He was twice as good a player in 21/22 then he was in 17/18 even if he scored more goals in 17/18. He was a better all round player in 21/22. He was injured last year for a large period so people forget how good he actually was and how much that injury affected last years title race.
And I said that Liverpool as a collective have not improved massively, not individual players.
Jasus this match is awful. So stop start, Oliver is blowing for every minor touch.
I called Everton causing an upset before it, and I they look most likely to do something. Liverpool really off it here.
Exactly. Stop start and every small contact is a foul.
Liverpool will be so annoyed with the referee. He played 7 minutes of added time, when there 5 minutes to be added. There was the clash of the 2 Everton players, but I don't think that took up 2 minutes.
Please don't be offside
Thanks be to god that goal wasn't disallowed for some footling infringement…
Deadly
Sore drawers
Michael Oliver will be thinking...
He had a shocking performance.
I'm surprised at Liverpool reaction....not very classy I have to say. A draw not a bad result
Updated table
Didn't see the match but I'm guessing Michael Oliver show as usual?
Apparently Oliver is in the changing rooms sending more players off, he is an entertaining referee, there was no bad tackle in the first half & it had 5/6 bookings, he creates his own pressure.
LOL
Mental last few minutes there.
I can see Everton getting a big fine for failing to control their fans with the pitch invasion. I can also see Everton getting a big fine for their fans throwing a bottle at the Liverpool players.
I think Doucoure might get a ban for inciting the big pile on the end with his celebrating in front of the opposition fans and then also Jones could get a ban for his part in also inciting that by reacting in such an aggressive manner towards him.
And then finally maybe another fine for both clubs for failing to control their players.
Michael Oliver will escape punishment for his horror show of a performance though. He got his wish at the end with the red cards.
