You seem to believe anything you are told by your heroes without even stopping to check is it actually true.

What, you mean transwomen (less than 1% of the population) in sports (less than 1% of transwomen) who are eligible for the Olympics (less than 1% of athletes) doesn't matter to people?

Trump could have said "We're banning everyone named Marvin from competing in the Olympics for the USA" and it would have affected about as many people.

If I had a Tesla, which I had bought because I wanted to stop using fossil fuels and actually support the electric car industry, and I was stuck owning a tesla with the association with Trump and Musk, I'd find someone to make an aftermarket badge to replace the Tesla branding on the car and show that I don't support them

    something like this

    Ban billionaires

I'd wager that it was a mere fraction of the voting public that either abstained or transferred their vote because of the Middle East and even if they all still voted for Harris, Trump still would have won.

This idea that the balance of winning or losing was within the gift of the tiny voter block who's interests were what the Israeli's were doing to Palestinians is all a bit silly.

Funny, how just when you think life can’t possibly get any worse it suddenly does.

Why did you not click on the " transactions over time " tab and you would of seen it is from 2024. You can even do a monthly breakdown if you want and how much each agency paid.

    Tesla’s went from

    “Hmm that’s innovative”

    To

    “That looks dated and expensive”

    To

“Why should I make the worlds richest and most obnoxious nazi richer”

    To

”wtf is this” (pointing at Cybertruck)

The crazy part is that it has 1.2 Trillion in market cap and P/E ratio of nearly 200 while sales are collapsing

I highly recommend people here check their pension funds are not exposed to Tesla, when that bubble bursts it’s gonna be epic

Hard to feel sorry for people who ignored the warning signs of crazy and bought Tesla’s to drive

Long term it could also hurt his bottom line. A very large amount of Musk's wealth is based on the stock value of Tesla, which itself is stupidly overvalued. Musk's spending power is mostly based on lending cash against that value.

If this drop in sales continues, and disasters like the CyberTruck, Full Self Driving and the Semi continue to stifle any good updates in their product range, the fiction of Tesla's stock value will likely collapse. Without that percieved value Musk could lose a lot of his percieved wealth. I think maybe he realises this, which is why he's mucking about with DOGE as a side hustle incase everything goes to hell for him.

However, the problem with authocatic bell-ends like Trump is that you're only in their good books until you are not. Musk being the darling of incel tech-bros won't really be enough to keep the wolves away if Donnie doesn't really care anymore.

Again, I'll ask how much are YOU willing to spend? Because the fantasy of us building up a military that's capable of resisting any force that's determined to do us real harm is nulled by the reality of it's cost.

We can't even conjure up a viable housing situation for our small population. There's a hospital out at James' that we can't even get finished that's cost a ludicrous amount of money. Jesus, even the Luas took a stupid amount of time to complete.

This argument that Ireland "needs" to build up its military capabilities usually comes from a certain type too (not saying you necessarily) and that type is always pissing and moaning about how much taxes they ALREADY pay.

Then you'll have no problem showing the posts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,617 ✭✭✭joseywhales

Does it not make sense ,if Ireland does decide to invest in defence, that they focus resources on unmanned drone, sea and air, along with a robust partisan and intelligence network and plan for the inevitable occupation should a war every break out. Basically get as much utility as possible from spending in terms of being hard to occupy rather than expensive conventional military(like navy and Air Force)? I have zero military knowledge so maybe that's a pipe dream. Surely there is lots to be learned from Ukraine and Taiwan ( and yes I get that they are not comparible due to their relatively huge military , compared to Ireland but they are showing what a modern defensive strategy looks like)

Subscriptions =/= Payments. These were subscriptions to Politico Pro, A platform used across government, politicians, media and others.

In fact 38 Republicans in the house alone spent $300,000 on subscriptions.

Exactly - No doubt that there's likely money wasted on unused/unnecessary or duplicate subscriptions to a whole host of publications and information providers across the entire Government , but to suggest that any of it is evidence of corruption or political bias is just utter nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭brickster69

And ? The point is that much more than 8 million since 2016 was paid by the government which other posters stated. It is on the website as clear facts isn't it. That is just one media outlet.

Because it's being framed that the Dems & government under Biden were paying Politico for positive news coverage, when in actual fact, they were just subscribing to a news publication.

Thankfully your side of the argument was destroyed, and female sports have been saved. Great News for US female sports at all levels, from schools upwards, to the olympic trials.

The The whole girls sports/trans thing is massive in the States, it's in the college campuses, it's in the schools, (it was in the army), it's in Hollywood, it got into politics, the trans thing is everywhere. Up until today, different sporting bodies were allowing boys & men (who identified as girls) to play & compete against women & girls, this has now been stopped.

Now you may disagree with Trumps new ruling, but the Americans voted for it and sanity will prevail, at least for the next four years, then who knows? as apparently Trumps transgender ban can be reversed & revoked at the stroke of a pen, by the next President?

They/them pronouns have also been thrown in the trash can, as has the so called non-binary (X) identity on the US passport.

Trans: A tiny minority for sure, but social contagion & trans activism has pumped up the hype, and pumped up the visibility and the noise to such a degree that the Americans finally said ENOUGH, and here we are …

    Kamala is for they/them

    Trump is for you.

I read this and thought, this can't be true, but it's reported in the Texas Tribune link below. Seriously, WTAF, coming for the kids now. Can you imagine the anxiety for parents and children, what a shower of absolute ghouls the new administration are. It beggars belief!

How much money was spent on subscriptions to entities like Gartner etc. ??

A single subscription to them is $50k+

USAID spent $44k across 2 years on subscriptions to the data platforms provided by Politico.

this is just mental and also depressing. Orwell’s ‘1984’ being adapted into a living crap play with terrible actors and worse consequences. Broadcasting any lie he wants to discredit any potential moderator , never mind opponent , without any backtracking or consequences. A mischievous staffer might brief him on the dangers of ‘Eurasia’ soon.
I have 3 siblings who are US citizens, it’s so embarrassing to have this as your president, he makes ‘Goodluck Jonathan’ the ex Nigerian PM seem like an articulate statesman in comparison.

So basically, if you're a non-white kid you are going to have to carry around your birth certificate and/or a passport just in case some ICE Ghouls decide to board your school bus to "check your status"…

    Police state…

Outcry may have been the same but people and institutions stood in his way unlike now.

Pence was terrible but at the end of it all he wouldn't jeopardise US democracy and stood his ground and did the right thing.

Do you see JD Vance doing that?

Subscriptions, to a service. But by all means continue to deliberately misrepresent because your heroes have told you to even when made aware of the facts
