In the interest of balance, do you think the poster putting forward Stuart Barnes' view of Prendergast would be happy with him at Leinster next season?
Here's the point; whether you would have them or not doesn't necesarily invalidate their opinion. (Either way, I prefer coming to my own conclusions. (EDIT: that probably reads unnecessarily snarky, but isn't how I meant it, just making a broader point).

Crowley played well from the bench and added pace and directness to our attack, much like Conan and Sheehan.
Need to push back on his involvement in the Beirne try though. It was an excellent strike play revolving around Beirne and Henderson acting as the dummy runners for Lowe to angle his run between the incoming defenders.
You can actually see the defenders tracking Crowley as he steps away from the ruck. That assisted the line break.
I think that's a pretty generous reading of things. More likely the English defenders were covering across to the side that Ireland had the most players on.
But that's just the very basics of attack and defence from both sides. Ireland move the ball to the middle of the pitch, Crowley follows his pass as does Sheehan. Ringrose and Keenan are already there so the England defence folds around to create a numerical match on the other side.
You can't ascribe anything Crowley did as being pivotal to that try. It's too basic. It's a well worked set piece move where all the players did their job. But the actual credit must go to the two forwards and Lowe. JGP for his little hesitation to commit a defender too I suppose.
Its called numbering up in defence.
He's not a true six, he's a 7 and he's never getting that spot. Conan, Max Deegan and POM are better for the 6 role.
Some posters are just looking at when he kicked or passed the ball, others are saying he had little to do with the tries scored, had Crowley and the others been deeper in attack that cover may not have spread across so much. Players can be effective off the ball as much as on the bal

So they weren't tracking Crowley, they were numbering up in defence like teams routinely do?
Agreed, but I could credit Sheehan as much as Crowley in that instance so. I imagine the threat of him carrying was a greater influence than Crowley

Of course you could but as posters are clearly missing what Crowley contributed there I pointed it out while others just want to count passes/kicks as of that the sole contribution of a player to a game.
Or offering an attacking threat off the ball
Crowley went in behind sheehan and was offering no threat really and England had numbered up fairly standard really.

I think if anyone is clutching , it's you. Watch the full lead up, Crowley starts at the other side of the Guinness logo on the pitch, he passes the ball (another involvement in the lead up the try) then he loops around the play to drag defenders away from the ruck, Sheehan cuts in in front of him.
So the players did a bog standard movement after a hit up the middle. Some players followed the move to wrap around to draw defenders and you are bigging up ONE player in particular like this was some sort of piece of genius. It literally happens off every ruck/maul/scrum pretty much.
Why did you not pick out Sheehan when you first made this point. Why did you only pick out Jack Crowley?
Phog, everyone can see what happened in that video. Respectfully, you're making something up out of whole cloth. I don't know why you're dying on this hill, it's not a knock against Crowley to say he wasn't involved in the try, no more than it is to Keenan or Hansen.

Not only is his initial spacing way too wide, there's his lack of recognising lowe as a threat and then there's the unforgivable act of letting beirne past him without so much a break of stride. Had he got a shoulder onto beirne he would have turned the break into a 2 on 2 instead of a 3 on 2 leaving his back field with no hope.
I agree, everyone SHOULD see what's happening in that video but some said he wasn't involved in the tries, he's clearly directly involved in both tries unless they want to do a Trump on it and deny what everyone else can see
Surely if you were using Crowley's off the ball movement as a praise, you'd use Sheehan's try rather than Beirnes?
Crowley's movement out the back makes the English defender (maybe Slade off the top of my head?) shoot out and leaves the hole for Conan to plough through for the initial linebreak

Crowley was not directly involved in this try. JGP, Lowe, Beirne are
Multiple other players are indirectly involved including Crowley and Sheehan, neither of whom did anything particularly special other then follow the plan
Healy is definitely a liability, apart from the missed tackle which can happen to anyone one clip showed him trying to run back, he was struggling to get up to even a jogging pace. He looked completely goosed

It's the SP Vs Crowley thing that's the debate. And you are one of the many tribal ones who only sees things from one side.

He gave a short pass that was taken into contact, there was a fairly slow ruck and then the ball went the other side of the field from him to a rehearsed set move. The guy played fairly well off the bench but this is just the most bizarre attempt to give someone credit for something I have ever read.
