New Thread to continue discussion for General Premier League. Old thread closed.
After hearing the opposite from ten Hag for a significant period of time, hearing a bit of honesty and realism from a manager is refreshing to many United fans, hopeful or not. Nobody is interest in hearing the same old tired rehashed excuses anymore.
It seems everyone commenting here is doing so off headlines they are reading somewhere else, no one watches matches or interviews themselves just rehashing click bait by the looks of it for the most part shame the forum has come to this.
I don’t disagree with you re the Ange comment.
It’s a dire statement on society and media (as if they were ever anything but bottom feeding scum) that an honest man is in some part ridiculed for being so.
Regardless, they would find some reason to ridicule him if that was their intention anyway.
I just can’t believe that a ‘high ranking’ pundit hasn’t been banging the drum about the injuries they have. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a squad missing so many first team players yet still expected to get results.
First choice - GK, CB, CB, LB, CM and now striker.
Second choice - GK, CB/LB.
I’m not a fan so I could be missing some off the top of my head.
Also while trying to introduce some new young signings that haven’t had a chance to settle. They’ve had to go straight in to the team. They look very very decent talents too.
I just find it bizarre.
It is earned on the pitch yet there's a big number of players who haven't ot done it, that's why we've seen some players come out better than others, Amad, Maguire, Bruno have stood up. There is others that haven't, best to weed that out and find out whose who by the time the summer comes and he can get in the players in who he thinks can represent his style and the badge.
I've said before, this is not a quick fix which people seem to think it is. This is a long project that needs to be done carefully.
He's only manager that has called things out (bar Ragnick but he was never long term, but said the say thing)
We've been a merry go round for too long.
Who has he slated though? He's called out standards not being met not individuals.
Mourinho was far worse and blantenly called out players
Amorim is hardly covering himself in glory at the press conferences to all but the most hopeful of United fans. I dont ever remember a manager to slate his players in the way he does.
Heaton, Evans, Eriksen & Lindelof expiring in the summer.
Need to be gone would be Rashford who is contracted until 2028 and Casemiro 2026. Antony is another I guess and he’s 2027. Talks of him being loaned to Betis until the end of the season. Luke Shaw who is regularly injured is on the books until 2027…. Mount in the same category is 2028.
I've never seen the strategy of setting fire to the squad and starting over working. You put a plan in place with the right man and you gradually achieve progress and change the squad, that starts with getting the best out of what you have and trying to win games straight away.
Whatever about results, I've been watching ye and the performances on the pitch are every bit as bad as under ETH.
You can talk philosophy and rebuild till the cows come home it's nonsense. Patience and faith is earned on the pitch.
Does it really fill you with confidence that RA is the guy when he can't improve on ten hag?
ETH was riddled with half a team of injuries last season and he got roasted for bad results.
Outside looking in, Ange does more damage to himself with his press conferences more than anything.
I still can’t believe any fans are calling for Postecoglou’s head.
Will you have a look at the players they are missing and now apply that to your own team and tell me how many of you would expect to be getting results ? It’s ridiculous.
Postecoglou would be winning leagues if he was at Manchester City and they’d be playing the best soccer on the planet.
How many of the Man U players are out of contract at th3 end of the season? How many of those that 'need to be gone' are contracted for a few more years on massive wages? They probably wont be able to give away the ones they want rid of.
No clothing twisted here undergarment or other wise,.I was merely pointing out what you originally said was nonsense and given you have moved the goalposts elsewhere i take it you agree with me.
The club needs a pure breakdown before it can be rebuilt. There was always going to be shite before it begins to get going again. There's so many over payed players who think they are better than they actually are.
I'm all behind him sticking to his guns and not suiting to the players. Either get with the program or get the f**k out. The amount of managers we've had in the last 10 years with all types of pedigree have done that and it has never worked.
This is long term rebuild and not a rebuild that's been thrown about before but a proper go from the bottom up and it's going to take time.
Yes results absolutely matter but the results not being got are weaseling out the players that have taken a ride from the club for too long or not pushing themselves hard enough.
How many times has a new manager been brought in and it's expected water to be turned in to wine within a season or 2 and suddenly we're back. Nah, this team and club need to be torn from the bottom to the top and get with the times.
Season is a write off with the league but if it shows the absolute bare bones of the problems then that's an improvement and can hopefully improve next year. We've been covering over the cracks for too long and it's showing now.
No need to get your knickers in a twist, it’s far from nonsense. I’ve seen plenty of Man U games under him, thanks. They seem to get largely dominated in most games, nicked 2 late goals to win against city and were good against Arsenal and Liverpool when the players actually put in a shift. Those games seem to have papered over some cracks.
The fact that he can’t seem to get them motivated for games against perceived lesser teams is also not a great endorsement of him as a manager.
What if Amorim's philosophy doesn't work in the PL? He has the confidence of a manager with a few PL titles under his belt
As I said call me old fashioned but a manager should get the best out of the squad, create a winning mentality, not perform worse than the last one. I pretty much saw Klopp do that from minute one.
Why would ineos bring in a manger who doesn't suit the squad at all?
Not worried at all, the players are being found out and to revert to suit the players now would be player power winning
The man know now or will know by the end of the season who needs to be gone.
Most UTD fans are well behind RA, he's honest with no bs.
Its a squad full of miss match players from 4 different managers that are over paid and think they're better than they are.
We are crying out for a lb/lwb and a striker. We have no threat on that left side. Which is gas because for years we used to say the same about the right side. Can't remember when we had a cohesive attack on both sides of the pitch. Always lacked one or the other for the longest time.
I find this amorim fella absolutely bizarre. Not even trying to win games in a style that suits the squad just so he can show I will do it my way, I'd be worried as a united fan if my manager was so one dimensional. When did it become ok to lose games?
If City go on a 12 game winning run, and they can, they’ll be back in it. Utd were outplayed by Southampton for long periods, but showed heart to get the win. Didn’t see the game today, but saw Onana’s mistake. He needs to go. Poor keeper. Letting DDG go for free and paying £50m to replace him badly is another of Ten Hag’s mistakes that Amorim has to sort.
Ange has been in his job two years not two months for a start, also a set formation doesn't mean they only play one way that is nonsense, Ange gets called out on that not because of a formation because he goes all from start to finish never trying to get control of a game.
Amorim makes change within the formation, sometimes he plays more attacking players or more defensive players in certain positions, he has gone between mid blocks and high pressing, he has made subs and changes in games to go more attacking or more defensive.
What you are saying is absolute nonsense and I'd say you haven't seen many united games under amorim
City getting few players back in form. Foden with 6 goals in 6 games and de bruyne playing better. Mcatee looks another talent. Surely they won't let him go like Palmer and Rodgers. Should release gundogan and Bernardo in the summer, maybe kdb if he wants to go.
He looks like a manager under serious pressure.
If he doesn’t have the players then he needs to find a system that works with what he has until such time as he does have the players. Ange gets slaughtered for his “who we are” schtick and the fact he can and will only play one way. I don’t see why Amorim should be treated differently.
😂😂
18 points from those and they’ll be champions again! Fookers. But hopefully no more than 10.
I think that’s too harsh on Amorim. He doesn’t have a losing mentality, he just doesnt have the players.
He is able to get them organised enough and to work hard enough to get results against Liverpool and Arsenal, but he hasnt been able to get them to play the way he wants on the front foot. That’s largely because the players arent good enough, or perhaps he hasnt enough good players who also fit his system.
In particular, i dont think he can be properly judged until he has players he wants at wing back, 9 and 10.
I dont personally like his system, but thats probably because i dont understand it. Like i’ve no idea how he’d fit Salah into it if he had him. Also, while Amad is a super player i think you’d get even more out of him in a ‘normal’ 4-3-3. Garnacho too. I’m confused as to why when Amad is playing wing back he doesnt play on the left to provide width and to create chances by getting balls in from the left into the two 10s and the 9. (Obviously when Amad plays 10 he is better on the right so he can cut inside).
But Amorim clearly has confidence he can get his system to work.
That's the end of their easy run of fixtures though. Now have Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs and Forest upcoming. OK maybe generous to put Spurs on there but they do have a good record against City.
I give him 18 months. A losing mentality won't win much.
Players now going to run through walls for him after saying that. Right?
Worst Team in the history of Man Utd,according to Amorim.
We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you want headlines, but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that."
Roy Hodgson used to be at this type of stuff with the media when he was manager of Liverpool. The job was too big for him and his losing mentality.
