Yes to felon. "Adjudicated Rapist" because his case was beyond the statute of limitations (since changed, pretty pathetic by NY State to have one.)

It was increased. The official budget came before a new agreement was reached but the extra money was sequestered off. In the end the budget increased about 50M$

    https://www.dailynews.com/2025/01/09/factcheck-was-the-lafd-budget-cut-no-it-actually-increased-heres-how/

Of course, a 17M$ budget cut would have been largely irrelevant for the response to this event on an 830M$ budget. It is a rounding error.

The cut in overtime is pretty much exactly the kind of cut in spending that the Republicans and their idiotically named DOGE are looking to enforce across the entire government.

I understand the case beter than most

"Beter" being the conspiracy theory affected version of events.

    Thanks for proving my point.

Speaking of the great movie "Only the Brave" about the Granite Mountain Hotshots, the actor Miles Teller played the role of Brendan Mcdonough the single survivor of the Yarnell Hill Fire where the other 19 hotshots all died.

Well by all accounts Miles Teller's LA home has just burned down.

    Life can be weird sometimes.

Some say I understand it better than anyone. There's a law professor, someone very very high up who said he couldn't believe how well I understand the case, and in fact, all cases. He said I'm more knowledgeable than most lawyers in the world.

    😂

Trump raw dogged a porn star whilst his wife was nursing his son.

He then fraudulently paid off the porn star so it wouldn't hurt his chances of election.

But your problem is with the prosecutor?

    😂

The most impressive thing about Trump for me is how he brings out the worst in the right people. They can't contain their contempt. It's quite enjoyable.

Do you mean his supporters? I suppose he has made it easier for people to embrace being a **** person.

People having an issue with an abhorrent individual is not bringing out the worst in people... Trump does a great job in bringing out the worst in his fans though. They'll downplay everything from rapes to racism to threatening invasions of Greenland.

Tony O Reilly the legendary Irish Rugby Player was often quoted saying some of his best matches for Ireland were when he didnt play, and his replacement was shite.

I see similarities with the revisionist attitude to Trump.

Sure footed commentators are now second guessing themselves,Maybe Trump isnt that bad after all.

Trump is a spoofer,a grifter ,a charlatan without conscience or shred of decency. And thick.

Hes getting forgiven ala Michael Lowry,or Boris or whatever grifter you want when the incumbent fecks up or

an acceptable period of time is spent in the wilderness.

The old sayings have great truth in them and not least among them is "A Leopard never changes its spots"

A convicted felon for now but once the case escapes the vortex of the New York court system and reaches the Supreme Court it will be overturned.

Even John Fetterman has admitted that Bragg’s case against Trump was “politically motivated". "These kinds of charges would have never have been brought unless one side could one day realize that they could weaponize that.”

Seriously? Trump's done a lot of dodgy stuff in his time but there is nothing that would come remotely close to death row level.

Donald Trump is the next POTUS. It could have been different but that's the Democrats for you. They lost to this man twice.

We just have to suck it up now and hope for the best.

You couldn't make this up: Canadian water bombers are helping put out fires in California, and more are on their way, while Mexican fire crews are helping on the ground.

It just needs some Greenlanders to show up and chip in to make it perfect.

Meanwhile, Donald the Felon shows no sympathy or empathy towards California and just tries to score political points off Governor Newsom.

As much as I dislike both of those 2 actions, neither is a felony.

    That's what impresses you most….?

It's easy to see how/why so many support him; it doesn't require any thought or critique of what he says/does/is or represents; as long as it annoys others ('others' that haven't affected you or wronged you; just self perceived as rivals).

It used to be recognised as a sad state of affairs to see such wilful ignorance but we've surpassed that and now we have gleeful admission of it.

Thanks. Just copped this on MSN….

The US president-elect now aims to end the war against Ukraine within 100 days of his inauguration, Keith Kellogg, Trump's choice for special Ukraine peace envoy, told Fox News on Wednesday.

It would be nice if Kellogg's use of words on Fox did include "end the war against Ukraine" and that was not an MSN persons edited version of Kellogg's spoken words and Trumps original words to Kellogg as it's one news agency's reporting of what was on another news agency.

With so much interpretation of what others said going on, I tend to kick things around a bit, even to the extent of dropping out of this debate for R & R. The Daily Mail also mentioned Trump changing his scheduled end of the war, which might add credence to it.

So measuring that 100 days according to the same time scale as Russia's three day 'Special military operation', sometime in the first quarter of the next century. Right after he figures out that amazing medical care plan..... 🙄

Trump blaming newsom for water shortages saying he wouldn’t sign the water restoration declaration that he gave him.

A document that doesn’t or never existed.

Honestly, just a pretty crude and nasty joke that takes a pop at a pretty decent person.

I'm not denying climate change has an impact, I haven't denied climate change has an impact.

I'm pointing out that blaming it solely for these issues and not looking for real short to medium terms solutions is pathetic and is just passing the buck

    https://www.frontlinewildfire.com/wildfire-news-and-resources/california-wildfires-history-statistics/

Number of wildfires pretty much the same since the 1980's

    Report from UCLA

    https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/experts-explain-why-california-wildfires-getting-worse

Human behaviour accounts for 90% of the wildfires in California

Fact is saying "it's climate change " is a defeatist attitude and lets the authorities of the hook when they should be doing and should have done a better job managing their environment in their state. That is their job.

Climate change is here so either learn to prepare for it and live with it or not, using it as a reason for everything is not a solution to any issue.Climate change lets the authorities off the hook constantly as they just use it as a nice buzzword to blame everything on and that is what they have been doing over and over again in recent years.

The euphemism "special military operation" is something even Trump would not consider using as a propaganda expletive.

We all know, even if not all of us choose not to accept the fact, that Trump operates in an alternative reality - personal profit - (even to those who choose to speak on his behalf) to most of us. Some debaters claim to take into account that he is, supposedly, converting to a lifestyle he is not used to to, that of politics and treat his words consequently. Its his choice to speak like this but (IMO) the effects and consequences of HIS words to be interpreted as propaganda are down to him. They are his chosen words.

He is doubtless expert now on how to reach out with the spoken word through media sources (including those he personally owns) to cause dissent and disruption within the US itself, sometime aided and abetted by those satellites who chose to attach themselves to his orbit within the US and foreign regions.

I see him him and his correspondents in Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia, as propogandists of the style of Streicher, purely interested in their own future, not that of a MAGA US or Russia, but that's my interpretation of Trumps own words and deeds which he speaks with intent of effect. He is no idiot, nor any human variation of that word, when it comes to the words he utters for other humans to hear and interpret.

Now back to the person (singular) whom we are debating here. Its best not forgetting that Trump is a creature of habit. Rabbit-holes are to be expected.

Of course the fact that the vegetation is overgrown and dry helped the fires take hold, as did the wind help it to spread. Where did I say otherwise? It's hardly conspiracy to think some fires were deliberately set, literally everyone in LA thinks this and people have been caught trying to start more. Everyone is also acknowledging that there was a catastrophic failure of water resources which needs to be investigated, even the governor. These factors have nothing to do with climate change, and to hand wave this whole horrific saga away as an unavoidable product of such is doing a disservice to the millions who have been affected.

    From "Sweet Jane"

All lay down their bandanas and complain"

    Prescient for the President?

There is one less of them today thanks to some clown with a drone.

FFS I hope they do send the twat to jail for the maximum sentence of a year for operating a drone where fighting aircraft are flying low in often congested airspace with added complication of smoke.
