He's in jail because he refused to sign the bond. His sentence was suspended, therefore he wasn't jailed for the assault.
It's quite unusual to have a person in prison entirely of his own volition.
Signing the bond was a simple administrative function after his case was dealt with.

But there isn't that much of a problem really. Burke has been locked away for quite a while and was only released over the Christmas probably in the hope that he would see sense. Clearly he is still a bigoted, intolerant religious extremist so when they lock him up again I would imagine he'll be there for quite a while.
The issue is the delay that has been caused by Enoch's challenge to the appointment of Kieran Christie of ASTI as a member of the three person Disciplinary Appeal Panel. That has been bouncing around between the High Court and Court of Appeal now since June 2023. The wheels of justice turn slowly, but his appeal on the lifting of the injuction against the DAP proceeding was finally denied in December 2024, so it should (in theory) progress now.
Once that is finally resolved, and EB's termination is finalised, the goalposts will change, and he could face an arrest / charge for trespassing if he attends the school again.
But, as I mentioned earlier, I am now wondering if WHS are having an issue convening the DAP. It is a three person panel, whose members are appointed by the school. I know I wouldn't want to be a member of it and risk being followed around the country and accosted by a swarm of screaming Burkes at any time.

Honestly it’s quite laughable they cut on about religion this and that but where are they when there’s people in need for example? Why are they not using this time say to have Enoch give some grinds to less well off kids or something?

While I don’t “feel sorry” for him, it’s true he’s missing out on some of the best years of his life - it’s an extraordinary hill to choose to die on - I wonder years from now will we have some of the Burke family on a talk show describing their upbringing and spilling the beans - Shirley one of them will see sense at some point. Whilst I’ve no doubt they are very much a product of their upbringing, they are now adults and if this is how they choose to live/waste their lives then that’s their “choice”.
So far at least 3 of them have achieved a massive amount academically and have thrown it all away before they had a chance to establish their careers- a lawyer a barrister in training and a teacher - all that money, time and effort completely wasted- there are young people out there that would give their right eye for the opportunities they have thrown away.
Sure, with the way the USA are going, they'd probably consider the conviction to be politically motivated or against his freedom of religion or some crap like that.
