New Munster chat thread folks. warning deserved there. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=109477571#post109477571
watched the highlights on the URC youtube channel, theres a clip after the first try where BB is returning a kick and he is moving so slowly he might as well be walking. i honestly thought he must have been injured because he was just sauntering back with the ball.
That's one of the more positive updates we've had in awhile.
It is, some injury list all the same.
I se Archer has signed on til the end of the season. Still going strong so makes sense but we badly need youth to be coming up ASAP.
Good to hear Klyen and Jager are nearing returns, just gives us more weight and power to the pack. Was impressed with how Blueler scrummed last Saturday against a Lions scrum that is one of stronger units in the league. I think he is going to be a solid med. joker for us this season. He’s very willing to carry it too in the tight.
I thought he was excellent for us on Saturday night
Great news about Nanks, he's one of the best centres in the league. Having Edogbo back will be like a new signing, was matching or bettering Joe McCarthy's numbers at the time of his injury
If Bleuler goes well for the rest of the season, whats the likely hood of us being able to keep him on after the contract is up?
It's looking like no head coach is going to be appointed until the summer.

Munster Rugby and the IRFU are pleased to confirm that Chris Boyd has joined the province as Performance Consultant. In his role, Boyd will support Interim Head Coach Ian Costello and the wider coaching group over the coming months in addition to providing support to the wider aspects of team performance.

Regardless of how well he performs that will be down to the IRFU/David Humphreys
Just reading his "CV" on Wiki, I think it's a great signing, his style seems to match our attacking style and will give us time to get someone towards the end of the season rather trying get a Head Coach from who is available mid season.
From a Saints fan
Prob should have been clearer that if he goes well for us and we want to keep him, whats the likely hood of that being sanctioned.
Ive a couple of friends who are saints fans who just text and said we have made a great signing in Chris Boyd
He seems to have been given good credit for Northampton emerging in recent years. I think this could be a good short term appointment.
I think we were keen on Boyd a number of years ago as well? I vaguely remember his name be linked with us.
My heart would say, Yes but my head would say an absolute No
Probably starting 15 for the weekend - strong enough, bench is the issue
15 - Haley
14 - Nash
13 - Farrell
12 - Nank
11 - Daly
10 - Crowley
9 - Casey
8 - Coombes
7 - Hodnett/Jack O/Kendellan
6 - POM
5 - Aherne
4 - Beirne
3 - Ryan
2 - Barron/Scannel
1 - Blueur
Bench - Murray / Burns / Barron or Scannel / Hodnett or Jack O & or Kendellan / Archer / Wycherley / Abhrams
Potential for Bleuler to be a project player maybe? As far as I can see he's not tied to SA or anyone else. He'd only be 30 5 years from now. That could make it more likely to be allowed.
I wonder what the chances of Boyd being made permanent are too.
Trylights of the recent Munster A match v Ulster A in Nenagh
I see movement still going on in the back room team.
Ged Mc of the S&C is on personal leave.
Irfu head of athletic performance is assisting training & more interestingly Aled Walters attended a training session.
Good to see somthing happening after the 2 season of injuries we've had
Media Briefing
Interesting stat on Ball in Play
It's Back Baby! Munster Abu!
Is Brian Gleeson near making the 23? I see he was playing a few weeks back for Garryowen in the AIL. On a separate note, delighted to hear Edogbo is increasing his running load. No need to rush him back, hoping he can get a run of fitness and get back to the form he was showing before the injury. I think he and Ahern can potentially add a lot to the Irish pack in terms of grunt and dynamism. Can’t help but think Ahern would be an obvious addition to the Irish lineout at 6. Has been desperately unlucky with injury timings.
I hope both Edogbo & Ahern are kept well away from Ireland camps.
Return to full fitness & produce good performances consistently for us first.
Then they could be looked at, right now we have bigger concerns than wishing the ireland call ups & caps
Just noticed from Connacht thread that EPCR have the following up, but no announcement from Munster til 1pm. Would be huge for Evan O'Connell.
Replacements
xyz
Interesting split on the bench
Playing to the weather conditions?
O'Connell keeping Beirne out of the starting side 🤣
I'm excited to see how he goes here. Beirne went 80 in all 4 of the AI's…. I don't see why that was necessary, but there we go.
Lots of IRFU enforced game time limitation across the four provinces by the looks of it. Beirne the only real factor for us but Ulster and Leinster with lots of starters on the bench and no internationals for Connacht at all (mind they might not have been playing Challenge Cup regardless)
The weather should be fine by 5:30 tomorrow evening. 6C, 5% change of rain and a light breeze is the forecast.
Probably more to with them having a huge pack. Although I've no idea if this is a strong squad or not.
15 Joe Jonas, 14 Charles Laloi, 13 Joe Marchant, 12 Pierre Boudehent, 11 Samuel Ezeala, 10 Zack Henry, 9 Thibaut Motassi
1 Clement Castets, 2 Lucas Peyresblanques, 3 Francisco Gomez Kodela, 4 Pierre-Henri Azagoh, 5 Baptiste Pesenti, 6 Pierre Huguet, 7 Ryan Chapuis (c), 8 Yoan Tanga
16 Luka Petriashvili, 17 Moses Alo-Emile, 18 Paul Alo-Emile, 19 Setareki Turagacoke, 20 Andy Timo, 21 Juan Martin Scelzo, 22 Louis Foursans-Bourdette, 23 Louis Carbonel
