I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Has any of the parties, especially SF, acknowledged that the planning process will likely take a year minimum, which cuts into their 5 year plan to build 300k houses?
Your opinion is a conspiracy, feel free to outline how it works and who is involved in the state broadcaster targeting SF unfairly.
The points you made were questions you asked and answered yourself to deflect from outlining the conspiracy in detail.

Could you point to where I made that claim? In fact, before you run off on your conspiracy trail, I asked questions about the claims made by a former RTE journalist about serial attempts to interfere in RTE by FF and FG. The whistleblower doesn't say if this was to do with targeting SF specifically. If FG and FF are doing this, I think it fair to say all their political opponents would suffer not just SF.
I am not so sure on Simon. All the new candidates, all the new faces, looks like he is building for the next election, not this one. He realises that 14 years in power is a long time, there is a good chance FG get thrown out, so is prepared for that eventuality.
You still haven't learned the difference between inappropriate texting of a child and exchanges between two adults.
An attitude that is more than a little worrying.
Spot on.
Very few minds will have been changed or swayed
What's going on with Aontu? They don't trust their candidates to appear on debates and now they don't even trust them to appear on posters...
No, wrong again. Both are entirely inappropriate and wrong. Are you claiming they aren't?
The party is him and he is the party, basically.
Are you telling me that an exchange of pornographic pictures between adults which amounts to sexual harrassment is the same as the inappropriate texting of children in a clear grooming manner which is a potentially serious crime?
I had this out with you before in the Brian Stanley case where I pointed out the weirdness of SF dealing with him more severely than NOD or McGonagle. Like SF, and not for the first time (remember your defence of Gerry in the case of Aine Adams) it seems that you have greater tolerance for sexual issues involving children than issues between adults. I would call that not only weird but deeply disturbing.
The protection of children in such situations is absolutely paramount, and any dilution of that to compare with incidents between adults is disingenuous, reckless and dangerous.
Nobody claimed grooming a minor is not a serious offence. Away up the yard with your incessant altering of what is said. Why don't you ever answer a question?
Both are entirely inappropriate and wrong. Are you claiming they aren't?
Those same conditions are there for every party's housing plans. Why the concentration on SF, or are they all talking sh1te?
Pretty much only SFs plan has an entire new type of housing 'ownership' that will be impossible for banks to securitise and hence actually lend on.
Ah stop. He is not going to risk it, 5 years is a long time. You'll be telling me that Simon was rude to that care worker on purpose next. He is a poor leader and has achieved very very little. You were always cocksure that FG would romp to most seats. I always felt their support was fickle.
We still need financing for developments and we still need builders to build, regardless what party's plan we're following.
McEntee said we need to bring in more immigrants to build the houses for the immigrants....
Yes, but the banks won't give mortgages for SF's weird housing plan.
Actually, anybody from limerick here? I've noticed a lot of posters up have stickers added on with slogans like vote local or the local choice.
Is there an out of towner running or something that makes this necessary?
Why is it okay to own a leasehold but not okay for the SF plan?
Indeed, that is a massive hole in their plan, but the other parties are not being challenged on where they are going to get the extra manpower to ramp up the building of houses.
Don't buy the propaganda, the banks have not said either way, whether they will or not. Nor won't until it is an live proposal and after negotiations with a 'government' They will not get involved in a political row (rightly) but that doesn't stop some making political capital anyway.
The difference is that if you are going to set up a State construction company, you need to be able to explain how and why you will get small private contractors to give up their freedom and sign up for the State construction company, without it costing the State a fortune.
SF haven't been able to explain this, which only doubles down on their other mad ideas.
SF's plan puts restrictions on the sale of the property, so that reduces further the bank's capability to repossess, from an already low level in Ireland. The prices in additional risk for the bank, which will either push up the interest rate they lend at for these properties (increasing the cost of buying one) or lead to them not lending at all.
This is kind of basic banking stuff that Pearse doesn't appear to have a clue about.
Francie, I think you know this is probably not true.
If the banks had not raised any concerns and SF had absolutely no concerns they wouldn't be giving such wishy washy answers to the question.
Clearly there is something to this that is preventing SF being unequivocal about their plan being viable.
That means it is at best a step into the unknown, and will delay building houses while this is being sorted out. Quite a risk SF are asking the voters to take on. Could they not have sorted this out, after all they had five years to talk to the banks about their great ideas.
minority ff government with FG abstaining?
Anyone have some late predictions for shocks, ie. TDs losing we don't expect or people we never expected to get elected getting in?
You told a porkie blanch, own it. The banks have not said they will not lend.
Did you watch the debate last night or are you just throwing conspiracy theories around again? MLMD clearly said the banks were looking for further information to be provided to SF on that part of their housing plan
It's completely understandable because right now it's only a plan. Back in the days of FF in charge the banks would probably be lending the money out on the basis of a plan written on the back of a fag box nut times have changed and banks are much more
This 100%. If SF were remotely confident on the subject they’d have all of the highlighted issues and clear ways to remediate plastered over every media outlet. Not have their leader fumbling around multiple times trying to get off their usual favourite subject.
Bank federation comments to business post also extremely telling.
Quite incredible to have this long in opposition with housing as your smoking gun and to deliver an, at best, far from finished product (at worst, a dead in the water idea) so close to an election.
Imagine telling people in 2022 that the leader of SF would comprehensively lose in the housing segment of a debate with FF & FG two days before voting day. Remarkable really.
