Poll is anonymous since the actual vote on Friday is anonymous
Probably Aontu because they are taking a tougher position on illegal immigration into this country.
Fair enough but it’s their fault for sitting on their hands and doing sweet f all in terms of developing tradespeople, incentivising apprenticeships etc
They built nothing for a decade
It’s too little too late. Many many times they’ve been shown up for having a total lack of foresight and vision and I’m not rewarding them for that with my vote. They need a good boot up the arse at the very least.
Some ideas on how the country can be improved would be welcome.
We're an island, off an island, at the end of the world really.
It has been our low corporation rate, membership of the EU and language that have separated us from the pack over the last few decades.
Our infrastructure has not kept up with our economy. I've not heard any obvious fixes for this. I think if there were any, we'd hear about them but the politicians just have pushing on the end of string policies. If anything, there fiddling about and interventions make things worse - they probably should be removing schemes, grants, incentives that are counter-productive (and the quangos that go along with them) instead of trying to introduce even more.
Checking the Euro poll vs actual results, the biggest variance was the combined far left getting 7% when the boards.ie poll had 1%. FF were at a quarter of real results, which is still a huge gap but not in the 7:1 range!
Combined far right had 11% vs 5% in reality, IndI+Aontu (which were one poll option) 15% vs 10%, so there's a significant shift to the right versus reality.
SF are actually under-represented, but not by as much of a ratio as those - 8% here vs 11% at the ballot box.
Also, the posters on here supported the Greens and Soc Dems twice as much as the general public do. That needs to be kept in mind when seeing the threads that have extremely optimistic views on both parties seat counts - there's more people here supporting them than at the ballot box.
Right now, the poll on this thread has Labour at 9%, the Euro one had 3% and they got 3%. If somehow the exact same scenario came through, they'd be delighted with that. Particularly as that 3% was sufficiently localised to get an MEP.
Any revisionism with regards to FF's handing of the Irish economy and the housing market during the Celtic Tiger era needs to be nipped in the bud. They engineered the biggest financial catastrophe in the history of the state which ruined lives all over this country and required international institutions to come in and oversee the management of the economy.
In South Tipp, voting Michael "chicken " Brennan, if only to hear the Ceann Comhairle calling on him to speak!
Yes they did but you have people who will vote this Friday in the hope their representatives crash the economy and hence get them on housing ladder
Anyone whom lived through great recession like me in meantime just looking on in amazement
We seen it in US where 70 million people voted to wreck the best economy US ever had
Nobody is voting to wreck the economy in order to get on the housing ladder.
Can't believe the greens are on 7%,also unbelievable that the new Greens(SDS) are on big numbers, hopefully its a glitch and both parties are consigned to the political wilderness.
If this poll even vaguely resembles reality I'll be shocked, amazed and very surprised.
They're not. Boards polls are notoriously inaccurate.
I think it's unfair to call them 'inaccurate' as they're not intended to be a prediction of the election outcome, more a way to see how boardsies intend to vote.
This forum skews middle aged, middle class and male. It seems to over-estimate the far-right, the Greens, Soc Dems and Aontu while massively under-estimating FF (presumably because nobody middle-aged votes for them after the Crash)
Here are the results for the poll for the Euros election
and here are the actual results
I don't know, but 'racist' wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind when I hear Aontu, or second or third even...
I'd say Peadar will top the poll in his constituency, but other than that you wouldn't know
They are all traitors, no one with the guts to properly defend Ireland, many of them are calling for military support & aid to Ukraine to be stopped, despite the majority of European, EU & western democracies following this exact political policy.
These gombeens are all quislings & would collaborate with any invasion by certain dictatorial foreign powers as long as the gravy train continued.
Far right & hard left tankie traitors, shameful for a western supposedly freedom loving nation who's forefathers fought against such oppression & tyranny, the same as a fellow European nation is suffering for the last decade.
Glóir don Úcráin!
"most of them" - I'm pretty sure that's just SF, of the parties that are likely to get seats, that is.
I have a few questions written on a card beside my door to put to candidates who come knocking. So far nobody has come. They must not want my vote.
we've definitely had FF, aontu, and GP ring our doorbell. i just told the FF canvasser that i will not be voting FF, and he was content enough with me being polite about it.
FWIW i know how i'm voting at the top of the ballot, and at the bottom. just haven't decided on the middle, e.g. which of FF and FG will get the higher preference. two cheeks of the same arse, etc.
Unless you're in all the time, you've probably missed someone.
That is assuming you live in a house, not a flat; and in an at least semi built up area. Apartment and rural dwellers are basically excluded from door to door canvassing.
They're putting leaflets through my letterbox and not knocking or hanging around until I get to it.
I’ve read some quick news updates on the parties defence policies. SF, PBP, I4C, are all certainly traitors, just read their anti western / NATO / blame the USA / CIA rants calling for western weapons to be stopped, very similar delusional tankie mantra as Wallace & Daly FSB / KGB Pro Putin propaganda. SF deleted their years of pro Russian propaganda & support on their website regarding Ukraine but the same tankie viewpoints still remain
They are followed by LP, SD & GP who are all still anti defence / EU Army / triple lock. Heads in the sand stuff. All these parties above are obviously happy with present defence policy & don’t even want further serious co-operation with EU & European & other western nations in this time of world crisis.
It’s only FG & FF who actually say they are taking defence seriously, LOA3 gets mentioned by both parties but the stagnation & neglect has happened on their watch since the mid ’90’s, end of the Cold War era should not be overlooked.
So politicians & parties are still not serious enough on defence & such attitudes leave the nation & security in danger. I hope if there’s another FF/FG government that they at least listen to other democratic nations considerations on these issues & hopefully we are not on our own if the situation gets even worse in future.
Hell with Sinn Fein Putin boot lickers
They are too stupid to see their stance undoes all their other main policies such as:
Did anyone else try our the Irish Independent, VoteSmart: Take our election test to find out which parties and politicians align with your views quiz.
Apparently my smart vote is the Social Democrats followed by FG then FF.
On the way I'm actually going to vote they couldn't have been more wrong.

Thank you for that. Mine was spot on.
Tried it very different results from another one I took, also the questions in this one are a lot more leading I thought, some things were pushing towards answer due to the severity of the question
Thanks
Tried it and found an independent I didn’t even consider or knew about high up my list so went their site for more info
Some of the issues i absolutely don’t care about and are out there (greens I suspect) so it’s a good thing this let’s attach weight to policies one does care about
I think they will surprise many - there's a younger vote that I think they will get as well as the vote of the dissillusioned.
I do think they will get more than just the one seat.
There'll be a lot of independents voted in and I'd expect a good few of the independent Ireland group.
FF have put significant money into their campaigns though and I'd expect them to top the poll with FG coming a bit further back.
I really dont know how SF will do this time around. My cut is not as good as last time as their are more places to go with the votes they might have gotten last time out.
Main thing though - is to get out and vote - plenty people moaning all the time but never voted - there's no excuse.
It’s not a local election. This is the biggest issue with voting in Ireland. TDs should have f*ck all to do with local issues. That’s why we have county councillors.
“Shure he fixed the road” is alive and well at the parish pump.
That would be brilliant if Ireland was a private company rather than a society.
Have wage increases matched inflation? If not, houses are more expensive.
