I'd be more concerned about the 3 pointers we gifted them.
Farrell said in his post match interview, they're individual errors, over eagerness, but why are they happening now. We were a team that could get away with single digit penalties
Rugby's not really your sport, is it.
If the forwards had such a good game then why are we so poor at rucks, especially over our own ball. The second half tonight and all of last wey was bitterly disappointing
Ringrose, Beirne, Osbourne, vdf, Keenan, Crowley first 50, but on the front foot, was poor under pressure
Scrum half was a problem, slow ball, no go forward
Lineout and breakdown are probably the biggest concerns. Osborne and Prendergast made promising half breaks in the Argentina 22, only to be turned over as there was no Irish player sweeping in at the breakdown.
Our attacking lineout is an obvious worry, but I'm also very disappointed by our counter jumping at the opposition lineout. We didn't get near any Argentina throws tonight. We've some very good defensive lineout jumpers, but Ryan and Beirne never got into the game in that regard.
Read the comment again numb skull.
Mod: Attack the post, not the poster.
Jesus. Really? Watch the game again.
…and penalty count. Significantly higher than the opposition again.
You seem clueless, this is when you blood players and try things
The 6 nations and the world cup are what count
That's not the scrum half's fault
I felt we tried to play too much between the 10m lines instead of trying to play territory when we went through a few phases without getting any real territory gain.
Also, for the life of me, do not understand why there was no dink over the top to try and turn them. It nearly worked with Hansen last week and the space was there tonight. Do it early, it might force Argentina into changing things and create space out wide
Hope Stockdale gets a run next week.
ringrose was poor as was van der flier and I like those players. They have been brilliant for Ireland In so many games but tonight they were not even close to what they have previously done.
It has plenty do with the scrum half, they are the tempo
Stockdale is a busted flush at this point
Again, I emphatically disagree - Ringrose had a very good game.
I dont have too. I watched the game and all I saw was a very poor performance and actually worse than last week. The poor Argentina start is the only reason we won. that was a shocking performance tonight.
And when the ball is slow, or disrupted or they have to go digging, that's not their fault.
Stockdale is far from finished and has been decent for Ulster this season. So give him a run out
Same here, obviously went off early though, but I thought he was really good.
Felipe knows, you should listen to his comments there, he knows rugby
Hates losing, but it's progress not a crap result, who got more out of the game, they did yet they lost
😁
Sexton's leadership isnt a good enough excuse, this side won the 6N and drew a series in SA without him. There is plenty of top players and leaders in the Irish team as it is.
It's Friday night and there's a great round of fixtures tomorrow
Stockdale has had a really strong start to the season showing his best form for a few years. He's also 27/28 so he's hardly a busted flush.
It wasn't, he had plenty of clean ball
Hes had his chances, isnt the player he was on attack and is still the player he was on defence
Thought the ref let Argentina come in from the side all the time, but they are a serious team and we did well to win in the end. We are missing key players and some are undercooked. They targeted this match so a win with 2 first caps, no need to be too despondent.
Argentina were dire in the 1st half and that ultimately cost them the win...
Ireland were muck again...Zero confidence in Irelands lineout....POC is not doing a good job.
They are going over and back because the defence has worked them out.
They need to change the game plan, Joe did it after the 2015 World Cup and we went onto win a grand Slam, problem was teams worked us out then and he didn;t change before 2019 World Cup
Teams have studied us and now have a plan, so we need to change the plan to attack. We had some good moves mind you in first half but then in second half Argie defence was massively ontop
V little between Ringrose & Vdf for my man of the match.
Where they got Joe Mc from I dunno
Ringrose put in a massive shift imo..will be interesting to see the stats
Hes hasn't progressed, is fine at the level Ulster are at
What do we learn if he starts against Fiji? I mean they are much improved sí a harder game than years past
So the TV3 lads highlights reel for Crowleys 60 mins was the try, the DG, the clearance kicks, lowlights were a wayward kick that was marked and the mistimed tackle. No passing highlights in all that attacking play.
The highlights reel for prendergast was he caught the ball and passed it 3 times, and a wayward kick that was marked ?And him being bounced like a child was “welcome to test rugby, Haha! “
Prendergast going into contact and turning over the ball to Argentina 5m from their line was a positive seemingly .
The MoM McCarthy got a YC and gave away multiple penalties
The spin machine is still going strong
Every time we took the ball into a ruck, near the end of the game, we looked like being turned over. When Argentina had the ball, we never got close to poaching the ball or even forcing a penalty. Second week in a row where we were completely dominated in the ruck. Can't remember us poaching one ball in the last two games.
BS they got more out of the game
They lost and no matter what spin you put on that it's a loss
Ireland played that game, had a good half and a bad half, they have plenty to work on but plenty of positives as well. Exactly what you want after a game, plus they have a win which is great to put them back on track for the AI's
They can review now and work on the plan for the next two games, its a lot easier with a win than with a loss.
Argentina came to Ireland looking to win and break the record of never winning in Dublin, no matter what way people try to paint that up they lost.
Our ruck work this series has been awful, which means the ball is slow which means our tackling are often not coming onto the ball at all. Which means we go side to side and not much go forward, which means poor tempo in our play.
