Why would NATO negotiate in a war that doesn’t involve NATO?
I think Putin - and indeed others in the Russian leadership - have been clear that they have never refused negotiations, and wont refuse a call. There is no law in Russia against negotiations.
What they have said is that there wont be a ceasefire while negotiations occur, and that negotiations have to be realistic. "Freezes" along the line, or Russia being "allowed" to hold what they already hold, or Ukraine in NATO now or in 20 years: all this is NATO fantasy, not negotiations that will be entertained by the Russians.
For there to be genuine negotiations, NATO needs to address the root causes of the conflict. Which of course they will never do as they have no incentives. Its only Ukrainians dying, not NATO. So I don't believe there will be negotiations. The US says Ukraine will run out of manpower in 6-12 months. At that point, organised resistance will become patchy at best and the Russians will be able to dictate terms on whatever is left of the Ukrainians.
And the "friends of Ukraine" will beat their chests and wail performatively, and then and move on to the next project.
Even though Putin only said the other day he’s not interested in negotiations.
So please tell what and who there is to talk about?
No one called for Ukraine to unilaterally pause. I said Ukraine has to achieve a pause in the fighting. That can only be done if Russia is willing to reciprocate.
A little bit of sense at last. Talking is the only way to end this nonsense.
Russia is a creeping barrage of filth. Anything it occupies is tainted.
It’s nice of Scholz to call the Russian president and ask for a “pause”
At least he recognises that the ball is in the Russian court, and further highlights how ridiculous the posts yesterdays calling for Ukrainians to “pause” are
On the Donbass, is depopulated towns turned to rubble, fields full of unexploded Russian bombs and randomly seeded mines + (possibly) poisoned beyond use nicer than "a bag of shíte"?
Anyway you are welcome to spread your wings and take up one of the many exciting job vacancies that Putin might open up in these New Russian Territories his army is "liberating" if interested!
I don't think you can call the decimation of a superpowers military with record inflation and shortages as "all the aces".
putin does seem desperate to grab land at the cost of lots (lots more than usual as well) of russian lives at the moment for some reason.
Bit harsh describing the Donbass & Crimea as 'a bag of shite'.
Russia is holding a bag of shite but Putin and his mafia think they won't to be accountable when the raven comes tapping at their chamber door
That gives me a good laugh. Russia holds all the aces - they're not going to withdraw troops from the Donbass.
The best the Ukraine can hope for is not losing any more territory.
Olaf Scholtz has been on the blower to Putin today asking to negotiate with Ukraine.
Dont you know that Ukraine is a 1000km wide country with loads of English, French, German, Polish speakers 🤣
one one hand you have intelligence services who predicted this war saying yes Koreans are in this war
On the other hand you have a lump of 💩 claiming with a straight face while dripping between your fingers that “nyet nyet zese are Ruskies”
I dunno but now I have urge to wash my hands
I know the difference between a Korean and a Siberian etc. Obviously we can't be sure yet but in a few days we will/
If this is to be believed, the NK troops are doing a good job of taking themselves out before they even reach the front!!
Yes, yes. Wait and see. That's worked well for Europe and Ukraine for the last 10 years hasn't it…
I would class it highly unlikely that NATO and various other states would independently confirm something so bizarrely specific as part of a conspiracy propaganda effort.
We know NK supplies munitions. We know artillery systems from NK have been spotted moving through Russia recently. We know Russia and NK signed a defence pact. We know NK would really stand to gain from Russian military technology.
I don't know how any of that could be used to assigned the same level of credibility to North Korean troops in Ukraine as the Taliban riding into Ukraine on camels.
Exactly. It would be like France, UK, Germany and Italy all sending tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine, freeing up tens of thousands of UAF troops to head to the front lines, and expecting Putin and all the "Friends of Putin" here to say, "that's ok, I'm fine with that" just because they're not engaged on the front.
I am going on what the Ukrainians are saying that they have not been in combat. That is if they actually exist, which no one has proved yet. For all we know it could be a load of propaganda couldn't it, we need to wait and see ?
Are you saying that North Korean troops haven't yet been deployed in combat or that you don't believe they are even in the theatre?
The next bullet won't miss
You do understand that Korean looking Russian citizens live on the border with Korea don't you ? Just like millions of Chinese looking Russians who live on the border with China.
It is 1/8th of the worlds landmass with 11 different timezones of course you are going to have oriental looking people in Russia. they all don't look like Ivan Drago you know.
I've seen a few videos that are too graphic to share here of very Korean looking men getting killed by grenades from drones in the last week. Seeing as meat waves are on the zero line, the identification of enemy corpses is way down the list of things to do in front of a trench.
Eventually we'll get footage from a drone that was in the air during of of these assaults and we'll see around 50 of the poor bastards at once stone cold dead.
Police in Russia were hunting for 10 soldiers who were supposed to be sent on the special operation. Four got outside their district. They all left in taxis.
Why, are there thousands of Taliban troops in an observation role at Kursk, with camels or otherwise?
Because there is no doubt there are North Korean troops in the Kursk region, the only question is whether they are actively engaged or not. They may be fulfilling secondary or support roles.
So a long way away from your nonsensical camels comparison.
Ukraine themselves say that the Koreans are not involved in the fighting. Until i see evidence i am going to take it all with a big pinch of salt myself. Next thing you know the Taliban riding camels will be involved and everyone will believe it.
Do we know if any NK troops are being used for these missions? Say's a lot that Putin has to reach for them because he's scared shitless to bring in a general mobilisation.
They are in the process of 5 towns being encircled. Anyway, it seems that they are evacuating now which is good for them. They live to fight another day.
It's like this one happening overnight just north of Kurakovo as we speak. They have open space now so they don't storm towns they just encircle them. Same thing will happen in 48 hours or so here to that town on the reservoir. It's not rocket science to predict what will happen is it, just when.
The maps show the reality on the ground. You just need to know which mappers are reliable based on what they have shown in the past, if it came about or not.
America just hasn't done enough on this either. Biden had the option to use lend lease to give Ukraine a lot more than he has, that option has now expired. He also still has the option of allowing Ukraine to hit any target they want with Storm Shadow, SCALP and ATACMS missiles for the next couple of months but he's not doing that either. He's also now trying to get more funding approved, which will never happen as Trump will happily have the Republicans block it.
When the US first sent ATACMS they arrived with a bang, taking out a lot of Russian helicopters in a surprise attack. As it turned out, those missiles were all that had been sent and it took months for more to arrive.
It also took a long time, until Ukraine were out of ammo and utterly desperate, for the US to send cluster artillery munitions, which proved to be exceptionally effective against Russian meatwave attacks. Instead of opening the floodgates they then chose to only send enough to cover any gaps in artillery supply, despite the fact that the US no longer uses cluster munitions and could easily send everything they have.
He's done good things for the US but when it comes to Ukraine he's been a limp dick of a president.
