Plugshare
Plugshare, zap map, a better route planner.
Thanks, I had been looking at Plugshare and it appears I had a filter on that was hiding most chargers. Seems to be plenty of options available thankfully.
Barack Obama Plaza is all you'll need. Always been a number of free chargers anytime I did the same route.
All the main intercity motorways have loads of fast chargers.
Its to make electric vehicles more recognisable on the roads.
People with electric vehicles registered before it comes can opt in and retrofit their vehicle.

What do ye think?
I will not be changing the plate on my vehicle as it is glued and screwed on. Not coming off.
Maybe for the next one do when ever that happens.
Just got a car test to pass.
General consensus seems to be nobody will particularly want one. It’d be easier just to add a Green Party sticker in the back window if that’s your thing. Why would you glue your number plates on ?
"Why would you glue your number plates on?"
Security
Also it was easier to get the bolts in once it was on. They are there incase the glue fails.
Loads of lads with green diesel in their tanks will be getting these. 🤣
😆😆, can't bate the aul shamrock ☘️
I won't be charging my plates either.
Funny story (which prompted the above post). My sister was pulled in at a customs diesel check. Conversation as follows:
"Why are you pulling me in?"
"Everyone has to do it, it's the law"
"Ok, but this is a petrol hybrid"
"…Eh...Carry on… " 🤣
Can't wait for the day when they try to dip the tank on an EV
"We need to stick this into the tank"
"You mean the battery? Yeah go for it mate, mind if I stand down the road a bit? Also should I pre-book you an ambulance?"
🫣
That already happened. There was a video few years back on the theme.
Was going to call BS, but had a quick search instead. Video cuts off too early, but yep, pulled an electric van in.

It's a funny video that one, a few lads in a van, well worth looking up.
Was pulled in by customs doing Diesel checks in an EV on the N3 before.
How quickly did they realise it was electric?
On a side note, Edison in Canada, have confirmed via the government, under Canadian marked diesel rules can run marked diesel in their hybrid truck, as the diesel is only to run a generator in their diesel electric trucks.
And that's within the Canadian rules.
What happens if you have a new green number plate on your diesel van. Will they not pull you over? :)
That was my cunning plan. Along with trying to roll along whilst making a high humming sound.

Some older EV vans had diesel/petrol cabin heaters. The tank and the filler cap from the ICE version of the van was used for the fuel.
You'd have an interesting conversation if a customs officer dipped the tank and found green diesel.
Just wound down the window and said it's electric and went on my way....
Given it confers no benefits to the driver, probably absolutely nothing
There seems to be some sort of EU drive to have EVs identifiable by their number plates. May have something to do with restrictions in certain cities (thinking of Crit'Air in France) on ICE cars.
I was thinking the same thing, it would make future ULEZ type schemes a lot easier to enforce
For example Ulez is Euro 4,5,6 petrol mostly after 2006 and diesel Euro 6 mostly after 2015. You'd have a range of vehicles with different ratings. Unless we start automating camera checks of these kinda things via registration numbers, Ireland will never enforce it. It's not like we are going to have the people to do it by hand.
But that would be on the number plate number anyway not a green mark on the plate
That wouldn't work EU wide though. Need something simple and easily identifiable.
Hands up if you are guilty!
Neither will some green mark, as there's nothing to stop you getting one made with it.
London, for instance, there's no charge for electric, but you still have to pre register before you go in so you don't get charged.
