latest WSJ piece about Elon being Putin’s little b****h
edit: they are on a roll
putin is an evil that will seep into any gap
The world seems increasingly agnostic towards the playbook now being openly used by the likes of Trump and Musk. The idea that whole populations would react in disgust at blatant disregard for civilised norms seems to have disappeared, and their likes just run with it now, feeling completely immune. It's as though we're past the tipping point with Trump, where criminal convictions, associations with rapists and traffickers, connection to attempted violent insurrection just don't raise eyebrows anymore. In fact he seems to be inviting more and more accusations, in the hope I assume that people will become so snowblind by the sheer volume that they'll be unable to distinguish fact from rumour and will just give up caring.
Twenty years ago, the stories in the papers this month alone about Trump and Musk would have buried them forever. Now, I just can't see it making a difference. I'm honestly now at the point where I presume Trump is getting re-elected. The Democrats, after 8 years, still don't know how to take him on. Which all spells disaster for Ukraine and any other nation at the mercy of military aggression from more powerful neighbours.
Nice footage here of drone war
21% now, economy stronk
Haha! Putin hoped Europe would freeze when they cut off the gas, now it looks like Russia is in for it this winter.
Yes, and the increases to interest rates have only limited effect.
Nobody will trade with them in rubles, so anything imported is paid for in another currency. This just keeps getting more and more expensive as the ruble falls.
This is where having $300billion of their original $600b frozen is painful for them, harder to prop up the ruble. They also are spending huge amounts on the war effort special military operation.
Investors not buying rubles isn't because they thought the interest rate of 19% was too low (and 21% will now entice them). It's because they cannot spend them anywhere.
Can Russian citizens have Euro denominated bank accounts with a Russian bank?
nothing prevents Russian bank’s denominating accounts in whatever currency they want be it mandarins or yuan
The problem is when those customers come in expecting funds in those currencies (or want to transact out of Russia) seeing how we up to 12th package now of EU sanctions
https://www.centralbank.ie/regulation/how-we-regulate/international-financial-sanctions/EU-restrictive-measures-relating-to-actions-in-Ukraine
there are reports of serious shortages of Yuan in Russia and black market being only avenue for Euros

Don't believe anything until the Kremlin denies it!
Syrsky say's Putin is lying about the cauldron in Kursk
I see you are back testing the waters with not so subtle contrarianism and straight away posting from some fringe social media source (check her "objective" retweets)
Ukraine has indeed pulled back in Kursk, which was not unexpected.
When did putin say kursk would be retaken by? Will it be done by Nov 5th?
0.1% chance of it Astro at the most.
sus how they missed the main bombshell headline in the same newspaper today
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/interactive/2024/russia-biological-chemical-weapons-laboratory-expansion/
More Bio weapons coming to a park bench near you because using novichok and polonium on civilians wasnt enough
People don’t trust media anymore, you can’t really blame them. Most articles are copy pasted from other sources and even have typos. The Trump thing is totally overblown, he’s not the next Hitler. He was the president already. Musk is a businessman, he’s doing what’s in his interest. Now with Putin he is a very real threat to Europe.
Why would it be in Musks interest to be told by Putin where he should and should not offer services?
This is the same Musk currently spending millions to get Putin’s other buddy elected btw
Same Musk who bought Twitter (with questionable money) and turned it into turd that’s used as a firehose to help the two old men mentioned above
If only people placed the same mistrust in where they get their news from as they do with the mainstream, it seems like we are in an age where all you have to do is say you are anti mainstream or anti establishment and you are automatically treated as a sage; Joe Rogan, Russell Brand etc.
So, apparently the Ukrainian's intercepted some RuZZian chat about the North Koreans. They're at a loss as to what to do with them. Claimed that they were supposed to have 3 orc officers per 30 NK troops, but had to get the officers from somewhere.
Also, the NK were in the Kursk region.

People don't trust facts/media because there is a large effort to sow that distrust. Whether it's conspiracy theorists, or Trump's team, or the Kremlin they all use similar techniques (e.g. the firehose of falsehood) to get people to distrust everything, which makes people more likely to dismiss factual information and pay equal attention to disinformation.
Obviously Putin is a large direct threat to Europe, however Trump as an enabler of Putin is also a threat. They aren't mutually exclusive.
Musk is a far-right agitator who is using his billions to spread his fringe views and get people like Trump into power. He's also a businessman, again they aren't mutually exclusive.
I wonder will they be used just on Russian soil and not in Ukraine proper.
To make matters worse, Russian winters are hard. Everything is frozen during the winter months, and in Moscow sometimes even if the temp is not that low, you can get a breeze, and talk about wind chill!! Ask me how I know! And that's before you get to seriously cold regions like Siberia. Which ironically, will be the least affected as they are the most prepared. Then you get the spring thaw, and it becomes lethal to walk along the pavements in the shadows of the beautiful tall buildings as they shed the icicles that have been building throughout the winter. Russian winters are hard and bitter winters. For ordinary Russians, they are in for an unimaginable tough time.
Turns out the Biolabs weren't in Ukraine after all!!
So bad that Simply Red wrote an entire album about them.
Here’s hoping Ukraine have a plan for Trump getting in which looks very likely now.
Which polls are saying Trump is “very likely” to win?
Polls in 2016 and 2020 in BG states were significantly off. By 4% to 8% against Trump. Now that he's polling even or slightly ahead of Harris, the logic is that he will get a few per cent more on the day than these polls suggest.
It could be a separate anomaly, but for some it's suggesting Trump may get in.
TBH the.numbers in the US election do not look good unless the pollesters have managed to correct there sampling methods.
This time 4 years ago Joe Biden was ahead by 7% nationally and ended up 4% in the national vote. Harris is 2% ahead. All swing states much tighter than 4 years ago. If Harris loses Pennsylvania it's game over and that is very tight.
…There is a theory the pollsters may have over-corrected… You could go mad rechecking polls and odds, signal to noise ratio very high… It's tight, all to play for on the day but I'm encouraged by the bigger interest in Harris rallies etc than Trump this time round, surges in early voting. Get the vote out and let's hope Ukraine & America get someone who isn't a Putin stooge.
