Who cares what we think about the Jewish claim to Israel? What matters is what they think, and that influences their policies. Arguing about it here is a distraction from events on the ground there. Maybe they wouldn't be as hard-line about it if it wasn't for the threats of genocide against them, but that's the situation today. The past, and their understanding of what it means, is not going to change.
