I've been there. It's the oddest place I've ever been to. It's USSR nirvana with statues of Lenin and flags with the hammer and sickle - unlike the USSR it's quite wealthy. What's keeping the place going is organised crime. Their biggest exports are weapons and a brandy.
How they get the stuff out these days I do not know. Perhaps via river to the black sea?

Something that always cracks me up about Russian/Chinese/Iranian anti “western” propaganda if things are so bad and decadent in west and so good in those countries then why did millions of their countrymen voted with their feet and want to live in west

To read today that the US is beefing up Israel’s anti missile capabilities and supplying American operators is nothing short of sickening..Ukraine it seems must refrain from hitting back at Russia while Israel can ride roughshod over a neighbouring country and UN posts with impunity and receive all the necessary tools to do so. Ukraine must fight with one hand behind itsback? For what? For whom?
there is a flip side to that tho, if Trump comes in and drops all support then one would expect all this incredible restraint would vanish just as quickly as the US aid
There might be a point when the Ukrainians might be better off going all out and bombing **** out of let’s say Hungary in process leaving NATO (with or without US) no choice but to invade and occupy Ukraine, better be occupied by NATO than Russians

^^Yes, had been thinking about posting on it (put in mind by a post this morning on Israel thread showing them dropping a grenade on a parked up vehicle of a UN agency in Kherson).
It seems like a systematic terror tactic used against civilians in cities they can reach with these small drones (yet another war crime). DW piece from last month.

The break-in attempts in Finland last summer haven't led to anything obvious. But Finland (and I assume Sweden too) have been very naive - pretty much all critical infrastructure is listed on public web pages. They also didn't have any problems selling land or properties located in strategic locations (such as next to a military garrison) to Russian individuals or "companies". They are more alert now, but l wonder if it's too late.
Looks like the Ukrainian strike on the Russian drone factory/storage facility has been a bigger success than originally thought, no Russian drone strikes on Ukraine for the first time in weeks.
