Marseille seems to be dropped so far for Summer 2025. Its not on sale and other routes from Marseille are.
Thats annoying, used it twice recently because it was close to a eurocamp.

Porto has gone 2 to 3 next summer now. Not your typical bucket and spade dest so very good to see.
Also Ryanair allows luggage transfer through this airport so theoretically offers additional connectivity to Madeira and north africa if booking both legs with Ryanair.
I loved Porto. I'd recommend it highly.
I am hearing that EI are looking at a seasonal Chicago service from SNN in 2025 and Faro at a departure time of 1900 being mentioned - unsure of frequency.
Chicago would be brilliant news.
Faro definitely looks to be on the cards. There is a gap in Corks schedule that would go with the departure time you mentioned.

We already have Chicago and Faro with other airlines. Increased frequency is good yeah but it's not particularly exciting.
Tuesday and Thursdays ORK - FAO services have a gap in them, so possibly 3x weekly (2x Cork aircraft, 1x Dublin - Tuesday and Thursday seems a bit off if its 2x weekly)
With bucket and spade routes the days of operation are less important really.
If this proves to be true it will be quite clear closing cabin base was a mistake
You're probably right. FR aren't doing daily SNN-FAO as of yet so I wouldn't be surprised if EI do Tue,Thurs,Sat

I took it as exciting news anyway. It would be there first time in a long time that EI have expanded long haul at Shannon. Potentially getting a 3rd 321 aswell is very good news.
Agree. ORD UA service though is barely 4 months and a bit of a stretch calling it seasonal. Load factor was very high. The 9.30am departure was excellent for onward connections. With the current EI service getting into JFK and BOS at 3 and 4pm is awful for connections and in HFK case you have to change terminal. Any chance if it being an XLR?
the LR could potentially make it to ORD from Shannon. So either or would work. Flight distance from Shannon to Chicago isn’t much longer than Dublin to Cleveland.
I often wonder how the current operation of sending crew in taxis, overnights in hotels etc is cheaper than having a crew base
Cost is not a main consideration hell will freeze over before Aer Lingus reopen the Shannon base.
Shame because if they do Chicago, That would be a lot of crew to transport down to Shannon. Im sure some of the ex Shannon crew operate some of the flights so dont need to come down from Dublin.
Cost is always a consideration and relative inactivity over the winter months is the main justification for keeping the base closed.
In practice I think Aer Lingus are looking at 2025 and giving flexibility to those staff who might want to be based from Cork. I expect there will be staff effectively based in Shannon(who this is desirable for) but their contract won't say that

The Shannon-based Atlantic Aviation Group (AAG) has confirmed the addition of 50 jobs following securing a maintenance contract with a ‘blue-chip’ international airline for a new maintenance line.
The confirmation of the highly qualified roles is contained in new 2023 accounts for Atlantic Aviation Group Ltd and subsidiaries showing a 68% decline in pre-tax profits to €1.46m last year.
The group sustained the drop in profits as revenues increased by 6% from €95.3m to €101m.
The business continued to expand in 2023 as numbers employed increased from 652 to 703 as staff costs rose from €37.82m to €44.5m.

Profits surge at Lufthansa Technik group to €74.28 million (RTE)
Pre-tax profits at the Lufthansa Technik group of Irish companies last year increased by 42% to $81.36 million or €74.28 million.
New consolidated accounts lodged by Lufthansa Technik Airmotive Ireland Holdings show that the group's profits increased despite revenues decreasing by 7% from $167.7 million to $155.58 million last year.
The directors state that the drop in revenues was driven by the sale to the Atlantic Aviation Group of aircraft maintenance firm, Lufthansa Technik Shannon Limited (LTSL), which generated turnover for the group in only the first three months of the prior year, until its disposal on 31 March 2022.
Numbers employed by the group reduced from 412 to 348 as staff costs totalled $25.55 million.

Shannon-JFK/Boston had some of the highest RASK and load factors for Aer Lingus last year. This was before Delta resumed JFK. Maybe this is why Chicago is being looked at.

TKS4FLYSNN has been expired for a while now. Car park full the whole time now anyway so why would they?
Anyone know what the load factors are for KRK? I flew the route Wednesday-Friday this week and the flight was practically full. I thought the airport was very busy despite the fact there wasn’t that many departures at that time in the morning, carpark was busy as well.
Very busy route. The busiest European route at the airport, and 7th overall. Busier than any individual bucket and space route.
Thanks, where did you find out that it was 7th overall? Is there anywhere I can look to find out loads for all SNN routes.
I will wait for Black Friday sales.
