I've been called an islamophobe on this site for pointing out that life for women in any Islamic state is generally awful because they have second class status thanks to islam. Indeed I was told on the original Oct 7th thread that my objections to Hamas were in fact based on my alleged islamophobia, IOW my support for women's rights. That, apparently is enough to be deemed an islamophobe these days.

Pre WW2 Germany and the Soviet Union (not Russia) had the 'Nichtangriffspakt', no-attack-agreement. To be broken by Germany in '41 who had occupied Poland already.
Poland had been between a rock and a hard place through the centuries. Between Russia, Prussia, France, Hungary-Austria, the Baltics who had been big and powerful themselves in the 16, 17, 1800s. Sometimes they were the rock themselves. All mad then anyway and they were all married to each other and it was really Game of Thrones ****. Only a few dozen families really mattered.
Germany and Poland did not enjoy a harmonic relationship between WW1 and WW2. The German resentment wrt to Versailles, specifically Germany's new eastern border was always there and they engaged in on and off economical warfare. Duties, sanctions.
As with regards to Poland and the Soviet Union things were even worse. Post revolution and WW1 Lenin tried to expand the communist movement westwards but the Soviets failed to take Warsaw. In return Poland failed to take Ukraine or Belarus. It came to a standstill at some point but was more or less open hostility all throughout pre WW2.
Of course then in '39 Germany rolled Poland and invaded the Soviets two years later despite the Nichtangriffspakt. 'On the way back' then Soviets fought Germany all the way through Poland up to the German River Elbe which then became the new inner German border post WW2. Post WW2 Poland got restored in once again new borders taking mostly German/Prussian territories, albeit as a Warsaw Pact vassal state.
What does deserve a mention in all this IMO is that after the fall of the iron curtain and the crumbling of the Warsaw Pact and later the Soviet Union the then Russian occupiers withdrew entirely and peacefully both from Germany and also Poland and other former Warsaw Pact states. While for example Germany is still 'enjoying' US troops within its borders to this day.

The people of X really love us (who doesnt?) and if we just kill all the leadership of X, then the people of X will embrace us and do whatever we want.
X rotates, but the messaging is constant. I think its intended to have several benefits: it dehumanises the enemy, it edifies the conflict as being just and necessary, and also it makes it seem easier than it is. Defeating an entire nation state is very hard, takes a lot of effort. But a decapitation strike on just a few guys? Easy.

Yes, let's say for argument sake the Americans turned against the Saudis tomorrow, we wouldn't be long hearing about how terrible life is for Saudi women and people in general . Also whether we like or not alot of these regimes do have significant support, but the propaganda is that the people are just waiting for western freedom so they can embrace our western way of life. With this in mind who have the Iraqis mostly voted into power since Saddam was taken out. Is it progressive secularists or Shia religious parties with links to Iran? It maybe different in Iran, but at the same time I wouldn't be confident that if the Ayatollah was removed that whatever followed would be much better.

israel could not care less about womens rights in Iran, in the same way the US could not care less about womens rights in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis are considered useful and friendly. The Iranians are considered dangerous and hostile. So propaganda is pumped about how bad womens rights are in Iran, and its silenced about Saudis (though that will change as the Saudis increasingly distance themselves from the US/israel). Not because israel cares, but because they think its a good way to manipulate you into supporting their violence against civilians in Gaza. And it works. Because you're here thinking womens rights in Iran is somehow relevant to the discussion of israeli aggression causing a terrible war.
