Whenever I took one in, they would check on the computer before filling it. My GP elsewhere would give me a 3 month set of scrips and once when was new to the island and knew the weather was about to cut us off I asked a pharmacy who knew me for the next one early. and they said yes as they knew how hard it was for me to get there . So they looked it up then on the computer.

The same goes for GPs, when you change GP the new one will often ask the old one to send over your past medical history, or they'll ring your Pharmacy to get a med rec but outside of that one GP can't see what another has prescribed. Re. online GP services if I feel it's in their interest and I know who their GP is I'll fax them a copy of the online script.

Can a pharmacy give you a record of your prescription history over the course of a year?
Of course
what is the charge for this?
up to individual pharmacy if they charge or not. I imagine most don’t charge.
My GP charges for a list of my
appointments
If there is no centralised system for pharmacies - so any one pharmacy can see what prescriptions you have received previously with different pharmacies, what about the chain pharmacies ? Surely they can look up in one shop what you had received in another same chain shop?
Is there any plans afoot to have your medical records (with your GP) centralised? Thinking of people who move county etc.
Although from reading the news earlier, GPs in a number of counties are not even taking on new patients.
The pharmacy systems sold in Ireland are in shop instances; there are BI platforms to get sales date etc for the chain but no central systems
There are no concrete plans for centralising GP records.
Thanks. Makes sense there is a BI platform to see the consolidated sales data etc. across the chain but surprised that one Boots (for example) cannot look up your record of prescriptions across the other Boots stores.
Then again, it is probably due to the cost that would be involved in setting up a system like this. Sure haven’t the big banks and government spent millions and probably billions on trying to centralise their systems.
