You'll be insured with your credit card if someone hacked into it. Debit cards too I think but not 100% on that
Anyone check out new terms and conditions from 30-10-2024?
Think main thing is an admin fee in connection with closing account.
I had a quick look and that seems to be pretty much it
There was some stuff about cash withdrawal fees which seems like closing a few potential loopholes
And New York time for weekend foreign currency transactions
Bit of a security concern. Usually when I pull up for diesel at Certa self service I use my BOI visa debit card, put €40 in the car, using chip and PIN. All goes well.
Earlier today, used my Revolut physical visa debit to put in €20 in the car and the transaction was approved with no PIN. What's that about?
Anyone get the loan through Revolut?.
I applied and got refused. To be honest I'm sort of annoyed they declined as I thought my credit report would be great!. The algorithms seem to fail to identify my salary as it moves up and down due to changing tax credits.
There was an issue previously (assuming it's been resolved) where it wouldn't identify salary lodgements at all if you banked with PTSB, it would just see them as a transfer from yourself
Most if not all cards have a limit to the number of contactless transactions before you need to re-enter your pin as a security precaution in case it gets robbed, maybe that?
The certa pumps near me in Cork all don't have contactless. You have to put card in and enter pin.
Tbh it seems pretty random at times, I think I had to wait until my salary had been paid in for several months plus I had a certain amount in savings before I got approved
You can reset the contactless limit at any time yourself from within the App
Isn't the issue that the terminal didn't ask for a pin when it should have?
You would need to ask the OP that, I was just saying why one card might ask for a pin whilst another might not.
That's kind of my point, I didn't tap my Revolut card, I put it in the slot for the chip reader, like I do with my BOI card.
My brother was showing me his Revolut metal card the other day. He travels a lot so was saying it makes sense to have it because of the lounge access and insurance stuff or something. But I wasn't really certain what the actual real benefits are in having a metal plan.
I use Revolut for nearly all my day to day banking. I get paid into ptsb, but transfer funds across and use Revolut for most payments then.
I don't have investments, I have a small amount stuck in one of those savings vaults things. Is there anything I missing with the basic plan?
No
€10 monthly fee introduced for basic plan with Revolut Business
Business holders beware
Probably not, I definitely wouldn't bother with the Metal plan unless you travel a lot
I got Plus purely to use the under 18 accounts for my kids. The higher exchange limit and better savings rates are handy but probably didn't pay for the plan yet
beware what?
hi all
I have revolut standard and I’m wondering what interest (if any) they pay on the deposits in the account? I see there’s a message in my inbox saying I could get 3.94% APR Daily in an instant access savings account? Anyone else using this option?
The rates for the the instant savings account at the moment (01/09/2024) are
2% on standard and Plus
2.5% on premium
3% on Metal
3.49% on Ultra
All paid out daily with DIRT deducted.
Money can be transferred between the savings account and main account in real time 24/7.
Tenner a month and whatever else is in the mix with new terms and cons
I'm looking to buy a product from Samsung website and the the sale agent advised me to check my Revolut, but I haven't signed up for Revolut yet.
Would anyone mind to check if there is anything special for Samsung?
Thank you.
All it shows for me is 15x points.
Samsung has an EPP that is open to everyone (credit card promos, workplace benefits etc.) which you can find here: https://shop.samsung.com/ie/epp
Can't say the epp has offered me any decent deals.
The Revolut buy now pay later, interest free offer also applies to Samsung purchases (instead of points).
So, booked a Ryanair flight yesterday and paid by Revolut, today I get an email from Revolut offering me trips at my destination?!? How do they know my destination?
Includes getting points on a hotel booking which incidently is cheaper than the hotels own site for my dates as well as booking.com
Does anyone know who is behind the hotel offers from Revolut, being nearly €100 cheaper than booking.com who were the cheapest online almost sounds too good to be true?
Edit: Seems it's Expedia, should be OK then?
Your airline might have told Revolut with the transaction, not all airlines or credit card companies actually do something with that info, but Revolut who extensively uses the data they have about you is clearly.
For example, I have seen info like this been transmitted to my credit card company:
AER LINGUG8B [My Name], DUBLIN 203,69 -
Passenger: [My Name]
Ticket-Number: XXX
Seller: AER LINGUS
Travel Date: XXXX
From: XXX
Destination: XXX
In fact, on my German Credit Card all of that information is on the actual bill that I receive for each flight I book.
Ah the wonders of analytics and web trackers 😬
If Revolut were using such information to generation targeted marketing, they'd be in a whole pile of smelly dodo with data protection authorities.
