Your point number 2 is very valid actually, and probably the potential effect that's been least discussed by the media. Presumably Ukraine/ the US have very good/ accurate intel on troop movements on the borders, so either Ukraine will have the opportunity to carry out a number of further 'incursions' at time and place of it's choosing where the only Russian troops will be recent conscripts and reservists… or Russia has to pull main troops from somewhere on the existing front lines.
The difference between Luka and Putin is if Belarus start sending troops off to get slaughtered Luka will be sent to the guillotine. He has nowhere near the same grip on power.
Could see a military coup happening there and then Putin attempting to assimilate it into Russia
I was about to say the same. When they tell nobody, everything works, ruSSkies are in dark, as no poodle from US forwards the plans for a pack of rubles.
Any evidence (anecdotal?) that this has happened in the past?
Musk and Starlink?
That would be a good thing. If Russians saw Belarus finally free itself it might give them a few ideas about what's possible
I expect there would be a lot of resistance to that in Belarus, particularly among the younger generation
what evidence you are looking for? Last time they told US, ruSSkies knew. This time they said nothing, ruSSkies (and everyone else) was caught by surprise. Is that not an evidence enough?
Something is going down
Largest disruption to internet and messaging in Russia yet, while Putin (tho it looks like a double) is away
I mused earlier that if anything were to happen to one of his doubles and the message gets out to Russians that Putin is dead (even if it’s not the real Putin and just one of his doubles) that alone would do immense damage to the regime , how does he comeback from that, these doubles can yet prove to be a liability and not an asset
Edit: Invasion of Kursk is “normal”
I am not saying it hasn't happened.I am curious as to when it may have happened (when was "last time " btw?) as it should help to prevent it happening again.
Ideally should be able to trust its allies when practically possible.
There may also be times when allies prefer not to be told.
And we on boards certainly have no entitlement to know Ukraine's military secrets either.
This is why I'd like the polish army to come to an agreement with Ukraine to defend the Belarus border. Imagine how many Ukrainian troops that would free up.
Well well well, more planes and helis
Edit: thats from August 16 attack
Are we nearly swan lake time? Lol
I saw a tweet the other day (on here or somewhere else, can't remember) that showed the Ukranians training with FPV drones flying at over 200km/h.
It was also said last year that the Ukranians would be significantly ramping up domestic drone production, and it certainly seems to be the case that they now have as many drones as they need, even to the point of being able to target individual Russian soldiers, and as many drone pilots as they need to maintain a round-the-clock presence over any part of the frontline they choose.
If you add a long-range capability to that - which also seems to be the case, these last few weeks - then it doesn't really matter how many conscipts are sent to the occupied territories: the Ukranians will defeat the Russians from well behind the border, one airfield and one refinery at a time.
At this stage, I don't see any way out for Putin: as long as there's a single Russian boot on Ukrainian soil, Ukraine has a good reason to keep hitting valuable targets inside Russian, and Putin can't do a damn thing about it.
New record set of a drone attack in last hour of 1850KM in Murmansk above arctic circle,
An attack of an airfield with strategic bomber planes

I think it is partly to fight the Russians on open ground without having to cross minefields and face formidable Russian defenses. I guess they believe they have the advantage in a more fluid battle.
One ordinary Russian soldier who saw the light. Respect. Not sure about the wisdom of showing his face in public, hope he doesn't pay a heavy price for that:
what does this mean? polish Lithuanian commonwealth? march? attack them?
Probably bad translation
maybe a stupid question, but why is Putin not going for full mobilisation?
Mobilisation would mean middle class kids from Moscow & St. Petersburg would start getting drafted/killed, and kids/men from these cities have largely avoided the war to date, so that would upset people 'closer to home' for Putin… it's ok when they are from thousands of km/multiple time zones away and look different... but when its the locals being taken to die.. that could be his downfall.
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was a large kingdom basically covering modern Poland and the baltic states. It was eventually carved up (as Poland always was) by the Russians and Prussians (and Austrians). So it would be a call back to the height of Russian imperialism.
Though giving any weight to random Telegrams is like giving any weight to a random post here.
Probably explains why they actually slipped over the border relatively easily.
Obviously on a "Need to know" basis, and Scholz didn't need to know.
in the 14th century Lithuania (Grand Duchy of Lithuania) was one of the biggest countries in Europe, encompassing both Kyiv & Kursk within its borders..
Mad how they’ve never tried to get them back, just because at 1 point in history they ‘owned’ them…
The battle of Kursk is hugely symbolic for Russians in turning the Germans around, so the more of the Kursk region Ukraine can liberate the greater the embarrassment for Putin.
Remember Reagan joking in the White House that the Russians had bugged.
We start bombing in 5 minutes.
Hmm
Might be a raid, distraction, but something is up.
Irishman Alex Ryzhuk is missing in eastern Ukraine, presumed dead (rte)
Still burning brightly!
Interesting : this is a completely different part of Russia and its border area to Kursk. If they've invaded in a different region, it would be quite audacious by the Ukrainians.
