Original thread:
Atacms and Gmlrs are both fired from the same system -the himars and m270(mars) , but they're different missiles with different sizes ranges and payloads , so a Gmlrs is a smaller ,shorter range 6 to a pod (preloaded in pods) missile, atacms is much bigger ,longer range ,more payload ( 1 to a pod )
The main difference /issue is range , the yanks are concerned about potentially firing American made and supplied missiles up to 300 Kms into Russia ,
which would play havoc with Russian airbases ,and air-defences.
Every important military and transport facility within 300kms of the front would need multiple air-defence assets , s-400s to protect the target and pantsir or something to protect the s-400,
when you outed yourself as Russian
Where in the thread,or elsewhere was this posted?
It seems to have been denied and you have reasserted this in face of denials.
So show us where it was said that the poster was actually Russian (not that it is important per se but if it was denied when actually true ,it might be embarrassing)
I think there are Russian speakers in Ukraine who support their government and country as well as Russians in Russia who are terrorized into silence (as I would be)
As you went over his post claiming to be russian, you would have no issue linking to said post right ??? .. just so we can put this behind us
Drone attack on Moscow doesn't seem to be getting as much airtime as you'd think it should?
Ukraine advances in Russia as Moscow mayor accuses Kyiv of ‘one of largest ever’ drone attacks | CNN
Strange use of the word "accuse". The Kremlin leading the way in the gaslighting stakes.
Expanded video about Ukraine's anti-bridge building exercise in Kursk
I know they are different, but on the video it's clearly a cluster missile, so it has to be an ATACMS, which still has more range than the standard GMLRS (160km vs 70km) but less than the unitary warhead ATACMS (300km)
So if the above is correct, Ukraine are using ATACMS, just not the longer range ones in Kursk?
Assuming that's what's on the video. I can't think of anything else Ukraine has that explodes like that.
Indeed, Zelinsky is primarily a Russian speaker.
It’s climbing up in news reports
problem is only Russian government claims to support this and blurred pictures at this time, last article on BBC news about Ukraine War to note on record is two days old.
You'd have to think Putin's days are numbered given the humiliation and the impotence on display here.
Ukraine is giving an absolute MASTERCLASS in strategic war.
They didn't start it, but by Christ they're going to end it.
I guess reliable news outlets are trying to find out what actually happened, Russia claims one thing, there doesn't seem to be much verified footage out there at the moment... maybe later in the day we'll get a clearer picture? Hopefully at least some of the drones hit their target
As someone who tinkered a bit with drones, you have to appreciate how well they are being flown by the ukrainians, especially in that first video, dropping down between cargo and cab of a truck. I'd be doing well to hit the truck anywhere :D
Sigh. You people need to stop bickering. It is getting very tedious.
Not bickering to ask @thatsdaft to show us where the other poster said he was Russian. They can't just ignore the requests for this evidence of claimed lying on the part of another poster.
If they choose to ignore these requests then they are implicitly admitting to gaslighting (think that is the term) the forum.
Could not agree more. If Russia had the tactical nous, military leadership, discipline and integrity that Ukraine has, they'd be a formidable global force. If Ukraine had the scale and untied hands that Russia has, the war would have concluded in Ukraine's favour a long time ago.
Sums it up in a nutshell and also explains why things are still as they are... innovation and quick thinking versus brute force and superior numbers
The march forward continues
Sorry about that 😮,
Just looked up on Google and a passage popped up about a drop in replacement for dpcm warhead on M30 Gmlrs
So there must be some cluster Gmlrs ,
common ? I dunno
Range? I dunno
In Ukraine? I dunno

Ain't nobody gonna be goin fishin around that part of the river whenever all this settles down.
You're correct, I completely forgot there was cluster warheads on the smaller and shorter range rockets. Plenty of evidence Ukraine has been using them.
Seems the Ukraine's has mastered the art of drones
And more news
I joked that in few months russian propaganda will say “Kursk was never Russia”
But here we are two weeks later with the official Kremlin game plan being to deny their is even an invasion and to sweep the refugees under a carpet
Putin also ordered the situation resolved by October 1st, tho I note that the year wasn’t mentioned
Even if these numbers are exaggerated and I expect they are, how is Russia still able to field so large an army to sustain these losses. Both in terms of equipment and manpower. It just seems like endless meatbags for a small gain of land.
To what extent to people feel speed is of the essence for Ukraine in this operation? Presumably they really don't want to get bogged down there.
Have people's views changed at all since last week as to what the likely aim of the operation is now? Is there a point at which they decide "what we have we hold"… as opposed to things turning into a slow grind?
Possibly gain enough territory with good defensive lines, and sub out the elite troops back to the main action further south where Russia is going all-in? Let the regular troops have a bit of respite up in Kursk where the defensive action should be less challenging?
I've no fcuking clue what the goal or objective of the operation is, but I suspect that might be kinda the point.
Isn't it amazing though, what the Ukrainians can achieve when they dont tell the Americans their plans.
Theres a few things:
He does nothing ^. He shrinks away when you hit him and sticks his neck out when you don't.
Id be hopeful that any losses that Ukraine has suffered as a result of this operation will pay dividends and change the narrative of the war in a way that could actually end up with Ukraine actually getting some kind of win out of this thing.
Anyway.
71.4% inflation since start of war
21.2% in last year vs official figures of 6.7%

Luka up to his auld tricks again.
They've already sent their best gear to Russia, what they going to invade with? potatoes and tennis rackets?
Rumbles of discontent?
When the **** hits the fan, Putin has to turn to Luka for help. Every time.
Luka won't be sticking his neck out too far here though. He know's he's toast if he makes a move on Ukraine. This is a token move at Putin's bidding.
Their elite units would be wasted in defence so I don't see them being redeployed there. But the operation is certainly taking resources from their reserves that are needed in defence.
I don't want to see a grinding assault in Kursk. I was expecting/hoping for them to punch a hole elsewhere and try to exploit other weak points. They're playing into Russian hands sticking around in the one place for too long and should play to their advantage which are mobile tactics. So my guess was wrong on what they'd do.
Assaulting Korenevo could prove to be very costly for them but they do probably need the Gluschkovo region to protect their current bridgehead. They'd breached two lines of Russian defence in Kursk so they should be dealing with much easier obstacles than if they broke through in the east or south which is also heavily mined but there is clearly a slowing of their pace as they have to deal with Russian air units.
Achievements so far - POWs. Territory to trade. Putin has no red lines. Mobile tactics proven very effective again. Russia having to divert resources to plug the hole although this has not led to the redeployment from certain areas that they might have hoped for. Will it eventually? It's all still playing out.
These are not small areas we are dealing with. Ukraine and Russia are massive so progress when scaled up looks small but Ukraine have taken an area 3 times the size of Gaza in the last fortnight in enemy territory.
