I don't know how he's still standing, tbh. Surely his inner circle can smell the weakness and would like a bigger slice of the billions he must have swindled from the country for themselves.

This is in Glushkovo so the footage would have been captured remotely by Russians and released by Russians to Telegram. The Ukrainians haven't yet captured Glushkovo. So 'ordinary' Russians on Telegram know that the Chechens are looting in Kursk. And the ordinary owner of that shop isn't afraid to post it on Telegram.
Is this footage not discrediting their own forces? Or are the Chechens not considered 'their' forces?

The whole Russian Federation is one open prison. Just some have more freedom than others. But make no mistake about it, the doors can slam shut on you anytime, and that's a fact. No, it was not a civil war by any means. Chechnya wanted independence from Moscow, and as happened elsewhere, Putin bombed Grozny (and all the other towns and villages in Chechnya too) back to the stone age. Putin has absolutely no qualms whatsoever in killing anyone, be they Russians or anyone else.
If the Ukrainians are blowing up bridges in Kursk, I guess that means they're not planning to advance any further.

Hard to explain it, and I lived there for 4 years. But to put it as basic as I can. Putin has "engineered" the system in such a way that he holds absolute power, and the layers beneath him owe everything to him. Their health and wellbeing is directly linked to Putin's health and wellbeing. And so on down through the layers. As for the mass of the population, sure there many who given a choice (like a proper election) wouldn't vote for Putin (which is why Putin will never allow such a free and fair election) And we have all seen what happened to the thousands who protested after he invaded Ukraine. But if and when Putin is dethroned, you will see millions of Russians on the streets cheering, dancing and celebrating his downfall. Something like what happened when Saddam Hussein was dethroned. But now, being anti Putin, is a ticket directly to Donbas. Putin rules absolutely through sheer unadulterated terror, and nothing else.
Even their news reports are engineered to frighten any dissenters to stay slave like and say nothing. There was a piece on a local politician who was running for the communist party for years. He told a news reporter he was dropping out of politics because his daughter wanted to get a civil service job and she wouldn't be able to get said job with United Russia in power and he running in opposition with the communist party. Their way of putting that news in print and all stories like that is done in the way of "this is the way the situation is. We're telling you this for your own good and you know what to do if you want to get on or not go to prison." United Russia have them all saying and printing the news exactly how they want it done. And Putin is United Russia. The party name even is a paradoxical phrase to stop all dissent as being against the people and russia.
I can understand the language yes, but never did I say I'm Russian, because I'm not, why do you make this stuff up? Otherwise quote where I said that.

Good summary of where things are today, including another expert who again says still too early to pass judgment on the wisdom of the Kursk incursion, could go either way, and Zelensky confirming that the West knew nothing about the plan. Fierce fighting both in Kursk and Eastern Ukraine, must be hell out there, good luck to the Ukrainian soldiers and pity for all civilians caught up in it...
I thought that was an odd comment too, there are at least 5 or 6 Irish guys on this thread who speak Russian.
I don't, but I speak 2 other Slavic languages which is enough to enable me to follow "some" Russian. The ability to speak other languages is rather uniquely viewed as an oddity in Ireland, it should not be.

The other poster said I'm Russian, which is untrue and I never said it anywhere. The implication obviously being "secret Putin supporter", when nothing could be further from the truth, I'm as pro Ukrainian as anyone here, just because I insist on sticking to reliable news sources does not change that. Why are you having a go at me when he's the one spreading lies? If he stops lying and making constant digs I'll stop responding.
