Ridiculous statement. Here's a good Russian joke:
Putin and Medvedev go to a restaurant. The server rushes over to take their order. “I’ll have steak,” Putin says. The server asks, “And for the vegetable?” Putin replies, “He’ll have steak too.”
The war is another massive stain on Russian history, but let's stop acting like the Russian military and Putin gang and supporters are somehow representative of tens of millions of people...
Julian has turned into quite the cheerleader for the Kursk offensive.
He's (rightly) still making sure to point out the losses and negative developments in the Donbas.
The video in case no one clicks on the twitter link.
Good news. Ukraine said a main aim was to build up "prisoner exchange fund" and this is a positive sign
Russian “humour”
Cant be letting those valuable toilets and washing machines fall into enemy hands.
Hmm
The vast majority of the Russian population support their imperial expansion war.
I'm glad I read that just before I had a sip of my coffee and not after 😂
What an absolute shambles the Russian army is. The term 'flat track bully' comes to mind. I can't believe they thought the Ukrainians - of all people - would roll over.
More on the fire in Rostov
Honey wake up! Red crayons 🖍️ sighted sketching new red lines
Now THAT's what I call a carbon footprint.
I suspect a majority do, unfortunately, but a vast majority? No evidence either way. Unlike say, Israel, a democratic country where the majority clearly do support their massacre of Palestinians based on absence of any kind of meaningful protests, there is no way to tell in Russia, where protest lands you in jail. All we have is conjecture
Meaningless Russian propaganda, Zelensky said the incursion shows red lines do not exist
Russia can’t hold majority of the population in jail
But since there is no majority opposing this war that’s not an issue
Time and time again we have “ordinary” Russians instead of just staying quiet (which would be the case if your thesis was correct) but instead coming out in vocal support of this war and cheering on their men on their way to their deaths
Hell the Soviet Union fell apart and Russian Federation was formed precisely because enough Russians came out in protest and the military refused to shoot own population, yet now thumbleweeds
Either Putin has much more effective control than USSR and the KGB did or there actually ain’t a majority in opposition to the last few years and the majority support this war
Speak in favour of the war=safe.
Speak out=arrest.
You can't see how that influences who speaks out in public forms of media? Then either incredibly naive or just a dishonest person blinded by this weird obsessive hatred ...
Speak out against Soviet Union == gulag
And yet this day 33 years ago
But then again you might be a young one and have no memory of life before Putin’s 24+ year rule
Which might explain your permanently pessimistic outlook as seen in your posts, that’s a long time to be beaten down and have hope and thoughts of alternative to Putin erased
Someone penned an article in the last few days tying together the various strings which show how weak Putin is when actually challenged directly and in a crisis. He panics, freezes and goes to ground. His regime has been bookended by his pathetically feeble response to the Kursk submarine disaster and the invasion of Kursk by Ukraine. He's all talk and bluff. Even when Wagner were marching on Moscow, where was he? Where was his display of strength and brutal crackdown? Nowhere. His literally went into hiding only to take his trademark sneaky revenge weeks later.
If there's a lesson to be learned - 1) don't negotiate with Putin - he'll only use it to buy time to stab you in the back and 2) call his bluff - he's a coward.
Like a heckler when the performer bites back and the crowd then turn to see what their response will be only they've nothong left as they'd already taken their best shot and so are left looking like a fool.
Or just a plain old bully.
Yeltsin was Gas…
I suspect there are millions in Russia going “yeh Yeltsin was a drunk, yeh the economy was in gutter, but at least he didn’t send my son/husband/brother/friend to die in a pointless war outside of Russia”
He shat his pants and took to the air when Wagner was coming for him.
He’s a coward in every sense of the word.
Following the Kursk incursion and particularly Korenevo (rail hub and one of the main reinforced points on the current frontline), where we've been hearing about clashes non-stop for over a week. It sounds like there's decent progress from Ukraine there today while the Russians are hitting back inside the town with FAB bombs. The myth of Russia not blitzing its own territory looks to be expunged.
It took me until this week to realise that there's two Korenevo's side by side and spilt by the river Krepna which helps explain why there were so many confusing reports. Ukraine were already in the smaller village last week but today are inside the main town across the river and meeting serious resistance. Head-on tactics have proven very costly (particularly for the Russians in this war) but this seems to be the current way they're approaching this town albeit approaching from a couple of different directions.
Of course … dying in the Chechen wars felt so much better than in Ukraine, not being pointless and all
Guess who Yeltsin made prime minister 😉
That was a civil war sure
Am I doing this right? 😂
aside: about 60k killed and wounded in both Chechen wars in stark contrast to 600K+ now on Russian side alone
I don't believe so. I think RuZZians are fine with the status quo - else they'd do something about it, even if it's difficult.
Plus, Yeltsin was a long time ago, nearly a generation.
Back to implying I must be Russian? Same old tired strategy. Btw good job I'm not or I'd be arrested by now
Eh.. Chechnya?
It's pretty funny considering how you were saying earlier that Roger had no memory of life before Putin
I'd say one of the incursions objective are not being met i.e. stalling Russian progress in Donetsk. Someone above called it that he's still priortising gaining ground here over holding ground in Kursk.
Yeah and dying in one feels so much better right? compared to just over the border… Those lads in Grozny had it much better than the ones in Ukraine …plus you could argue Chechnya was independent (self proclaimed at that stage)
Outside Russia is only valid if you see it from the Russian viewpoint…
