Sounds impressive, right? Unfortunately in aid by GDP to Ukraine, Germany isn’t even in the top 15 countries. It doesn’t look great for the future either: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0kr91zqp0lo
Long range weaponry, more of it and green light to use it inside Russia, that would completely destroy Russian logistics and forward bases in short order, mainly.
The difference between the best Western weaponry and the best Russian weaponry is night and day, they just can't be compared. Russia's inventory is, in the main, Cold War era stuff.
But you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg being employed in Ukraine, and look what effect that has had.
If the gloves came off fully, it would be closer to Desert Storm.
Assuming no limitations on firing into Russia, probably long range stealthy cruise missiles and long range AA missiles.
With the hope that missiles raining down on the Kremlin or airbases deep inside Russia would stop the war?
Other than that, it would need to be a massive package of tanks, Bradleys, HIMARS delivered to try make a successful counterattack. But that would take more than a few weeks.
Simply killing Putin might be a more elegant solution. There must be a way of getting at him.
just to add to that: The US could step up artillery and barrel production. They had massive production during the Korean War and could do the same if they wanted to. They also have thousands of M1 and M2 Bradley’s in storage.
But if this is a fantasy list, throw in a squadron of F35b’s with meteor missiles. F18’s. PRSMs, a dozen patriots, are M10 bookers available yet?
They could end it in a few minutes if they loaned them a nuclear weapon. Nukes seem to be the best deterrent and if the Ukraine hadn't surrendered its own (and had the codes), they probably wouldn't be in this mess. Though if all parties had honoured the Budapest Memorandum, it would not have happened either.
Per GDP you're correct, but when it's in actual hardware, Germany is right behind the US.
Maybe some third world country donates a tank to Ukraine, is that single tank worth more 100 US tanks simply because the US GDP is 100x that of the other country?
Neither the US or Germany are the highest contributors to Ukraine (based on GDP).
Do you believe say, Bulgaria has helped Ukraine more than Germany?
People will say his predecessor would be just as bad, if not worse…. My reply, take them out also!
The discussion was on who could give more. Per GDP is a more useful metric than total given.
Putin: ha, you can't sink that, Ukrainians already did that!!
42D strategist
A few hundred MOABS [mother of all bombs] although I don't know how Ukraine might deliver them to targets.
And who are giving more? The likes of Germany and the US. New hardware being built and shipped to Ukraine.
Most of the GDP figures are based of initial donations of old soviet stock. That GDP figure for the US, UK, Germany, France will increase as the other countries have depleted their stockpile. The US, Germany and some others are actually producing hardware for Ukraine now.
I criticized Germany in the opening months of the war, but they have turned around and are the second biggest supplier of military aid to Ukraine. Could they do more? Yes, could the US do more? Yes. As can any country also.
your ignoring what was said. The discussion was on who could give more. Not who gave the most.
No my comment was who is still giving Ukraine arms…. mainly the US and Germany. Fresh off the assembly line.
So Germany and the US are still giving more. The GDP figure you quote is growing week to week with German and US aid.
Not to diminish other countries, but the likes of Germany is putting fresh money in, other countries donated old stock and bumped up their GDP figure initially.
If your comment is unrelated to the discussion, like you said, allow me to ignore it
No one cares to read these back and forth pedantic arguments.
The ex Soviet countries obviously gave enormously, and Ukraine was obviously grateful.
But more T72's and other cold-war era tech, while obviously helpful, can't hold a candle to what the likes of the UK, Germany, France, and particularly US can supply.
Ex-Soviet Stock allows Ukraine to continue on. Proper Western equipment allows them to punch far beyond their weight. As they have been doing, even with a relatively glacial drip feed.
As another poster already demonstrated, the GDP argument is flawed. Could Germany do more? Yes. Should it be singled out as the country not pulling its weight? No.
Like it or not, domestic politics plays a role. The most pro Ukrainian party, the Greens, are deeply unpopular in Germany, especially in the East. I'm no fan of Scholz, but he has to strike a difficult balance and can't afford to have his coalition collapse over the Ukraine issue, which could very easily happen.
So no, not perfect, but not worthy of petty sniping from someone sitting in Ireland, a country that in terms of military support is worse than useless
What is the Irish GDP ? .... and what is given to Ukraine per Irish GDP
Where did imply there are no aims?. Link to said post would suffiece. If you cannot find any such claim can I suggest you keep the bad faith posting to a minimum, I asked you to elaborate on that tweet because reading it it doesn't make sense to me. Apperantly it does to you, so please go ahead and discuss rather then link dump.
A video of the Russian Ka-52 helicopter that was shot down from MANPADS in the Kursk region on the 10th:
CNN report from inside Mordor
have they figured out how to jam russian drones ?
Let me do an interpretation, pity interpretive dancing can’t be conveyed over boards post 🙂↔️
It’s all part of grand 42D grand strategist plans with the aim of helping the CIA plant in Kremlin to kill millions of Russians and destroy and dismember Russia {politically/socially/economically/scientifically/militarily/industrially} from within
As added bonus the “ordinary Russians” have been bred to be too docile and are unable to comprehend the shape of this grand conspiracy which only works because they willingly permitted one man have all the power over every aspect of their lives.
Just As I thought, link dumping without having a fuckin clue as to what it means..... ohhh the humanity🤣
Ukraine is pretty good when it comes to EWF .... I saw units equipped with uav detectors, they can even differentiate between Orlan and other drones apperantly. Ukraine captured some of the latest RU tech in Kursk as well.
Jamming drones is not particularly hard, the problem I suspect was having enough jamming equipment for this operation, but yes it’s interesting that they let journalists (we had both Italian RIA and CNN and BBC reporters crossing into Russia) in and are apparently not worried about drones
Now there are reports of drones on both sides using fiber cable rolls, but those have obvious disadvantages of extra weight and possibility to get snagged and much reduced range
@StevenToast "Now that Ukraine is making serious headway into Russian territory, doesn't Putin have a perfect excuse to land a few tactical nukes in around some key targets in Ukraine? Can someone explain why this wont happen?"
Putin fears plutonium drones going to Moscow?
China. They are Putins lifeline and he will lose them if he uses a nuke
I think they are not worried mainly because the more capable drone operating units are all deployed on the Eastern and southern front, and the units available would be dealing with the Ukrainians on the front line in Kursk. The border is "defended" by poorly trained and equipped conscripts
I thought that the question asked by the RTE interviewer - during Primetime was a very silly/stupid / naieve one to ask. It was direct confrontational, etc, etc, etc. of course the ambassador is going to give a ‘NO’ answer to the Q asked, etc, etc. He could have asked the same Q but in another round about way eg given the minimal ambassadorial business between Ireland and Russia what exactly is the task/job description of all of your circa 37 odd staff . I would assume that the ‘RTE Investigates ‘ branch would have made contact with all of the relevant individuals in Gov /relevant Gov depts B4 hand to establish the level of business/level of contact before any interview with the Ru ambassador. The interview was a washout IMO
