Do you not take milk in your tea down your way?
Fairies are good company.
Some wider issues there worth debating for sure.
As far as glaring exclusions needed in this DRS I'd say it's been nearly 6 months since launch including trial period. I find it very hard to believe no-one designing Re-Turn made the connection between this scheme and home delivery but lets assume they were in fact that short sighted for a second. Why havent some of these exclusions been sorted? home delivery, airports (I dont care about WH Smiths or whoever having an RVM. Airports should be excluded) etc. Why? Because they dont want to. More deposits in the coffers.
CEO on the radio spoofing about bin surrounds and when we should attempt to use the RVMs to suit Re-Turn. They have no intentions of making any meaningful changes. Scheme working exactly as designed. Gombeens.
He's also suggesting drinking water from a plastic bottle is not healthy.
6:30am Dublin Airport, security queue. There’s green bins beside each belt for all the plastic drink bottles people have that they can’t bring through. The bin I looked in was full already. Emptied 6/7 times a day x 15/20 bins (how many security belts). As an NGO, I wonder who in DAA gets to keep the proceeds?
…or do they bother, and just send the rubbish for recycling, or god forbid, landfill….
One would imagine there are protocols involved for going home from airside in the airport. Surely an employee bringing plastic bags full of empty bottles or anything else from airside out of the airport is frowned upon if not actively prevented.
They aren't checking its only plastic goes into those bins, so I'd again imagine, the contents just go into a normal black bin.
Re-turn couldn't give a tinkers cuss about the problems people have with their DRS bullshit. They're just happy sitting back and watching the money roll in. If there's an issue that people raise they'll just go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and pretty much ignore it.
i suspect this is also the case, and ultimately into landfill or incineration
"fund the operations of the DRS" is a hugely broad term. It could, literally, mean anything to do with the company.
There are a lot of charities in this country, probably more than we think whose charitable donations just about cover the running costs of the charity - before they actually donate one red cent to their chosen cause. I fully expect ReScam to be the same way.
I used to work for a hosting company. We hosted websites and email and registered domains. It was near the end of the year and we were told if anyone rang for support to check if they'd paid their bill and try and get it out of them if we could. This individual rang up and when I asked about the over due bill she asked to speak to the manager. It was a small company, only 6 of us in the office so the manager was the owner of the company, so I put her on to him.
He came back to us after and said "She said they are a charity and she didn't like having to pay the 300 odd a year hosting bill, when that money could be put to better use helping people. I told her she might be a charity but we aren't."
He then went on to point out that their 300 a year covered hosting for a simple webpage and 2 or 3 email addresses. If money was such an issue they could have a free geocities or similar free website, use gmail addresses, and save the money, but they wanted to seem like a bigger organisation than they were.
Everyone knows this thread is full of disinformation.
Yes but other posters have replied with the correct information and fritzelly is now up to date even liking the replies. What has not happened is fritzelly doubling down on a fallacy with a copy and paste dump tangent fest or some disingenuous soda water position unrelated to Re-Turn. Believe it or not most on here are actually interested in facts and a view of this scheme based in reality.
Sometimes we get misinformation and thats fine. You are the disinformation champ on this thread.
Just going on their policy statements it appears unlikely that either airport would be landfilling plastic bottles.
That doesn't however address the issue of airside returns which is relevant to the thread.
Possibly duty free stock which is exempt could be used airside.

In Dublin, the water bottle honesty scheme they use airside have switched to cartons as opposed to bottles. Not sure how recyclable they are…..
Got on to Lidl customer support earlier and they said I was told wrong - something came up on the till when I scanned it in but didn't have time to read it before the staff member cancelled it. She did take the receipt and crumple it up but asked for it back. Will try again next time I'm in Lidl, have the whatsapp chat to show them if they say the same thing. She did definitely say it was 45 days and was in the T&C but they don't tell you that…so maybe she was trying to rob the receipt..
I think Fritzelly is coming from a biased viewpoint. When they included the bit below in the post. But they got 7 Thanks so that was nice. I never get any Thanks.
"More money that doesn't belong to them that they are robbing!"
They are 100% recyclable but it's a complicated expensive process.
The best solution for travellers is to have a sports/reusable bottle and fill at the hydration stations.
Of course, thank you.The quango didn't just magic up with staff and offices.
The "cleaners" at Croker are making a fortune. One "cleaner" collects a minimum e400 after each match.I mean the external "cleaners".

Bank of Ireland lent ReScam 25 Million to get set up.
If you and I tried to get a loan of 25 million from Bank of Ireland for our new venture, we would need more than magic on our side, we would need a full blown genie. Which makes you wonder, who rang up BOI and said "Here will you lend these guys 25M, you will get it back! I pinky promise!".
Being a company set up by and backed by the government and with a business monopoly to boot helps.
Let's stick to the facts.
Re-turn is not a quango, it's a not for profit company limited by guarantee.

Seed funding for the set up costs was provided by Bank of Ireland.

The BOI funding looks kosher to me. Is there supposed to be something wrong with it?

Fundamentally, the Green movement, including the Green Party and supporters of their policies, do not care about people. They especially do not care about people who are disabled, ill, elderly, don't have a car or their own means of transport, or any difficulties with mobility.
They're not trying to "Save The Planet" for humans, it's a quasi-religious movement verging on a giant cult.
I dont have a car either, I just bring then back in small quantities than I can carry in a shopping bag.
It is a state sanctioned monopoly, which is a more important point than whether it is a quango or a "not for profit" company. Does that make them better or worse than a quango? We have plenty of examples of those running "not for profits" abusing their position. Coupled with a monopoly…
So I'm going go with worse than a quango.
Well I can't go to the shop, so I get my groceries delivered, and am left putting my cans and my deposit in the green bin.
Have you ever phoned Re-Turn to get the help CEO Foleyo says is on offer to customers in your position?
What sort of help is there? Could I post my cans to them??
🤣
Foley was on the radio during 1 of his early interviews telling elderly and house bound customers to contact Re-Turn and they would help. I can well imagine what the "help" would be. Just curious if anyone has contacted them (as advised by the CEO) and got any help / response?
