Yes. That’s the reason those famously warmongering nations of Sweden and Finland just flocked to NATO.
It’s just stupid people thinking they are clever, writing ignorant letters. No idea of European history, mass psychology of nations and wars, or real human hardship anywhere else in the world. No idea of anything much beyond some muddle in their heads converging on the nebulous concept of “peace”, probably. Very comfortable, stupid people.
In Ireland for an official visit.
Mr Zelenskyi ( on his way home ) had a chat with An Taoiseach ( @ SNN airport ).

Good for you Mr Z. ! Even in my younger days my head was biltzed for a couple of days after going east from U.S. of A.

who picks the letters in the Indo? Some woman writing in today’s Indo saying NATO is the main danger to world peace and provoked Russia into invading Ukraine
Probably just adding them in out of pity. Since Clare and Mick are unemployed now.
Sure, but they don't need to do what they do either. Being a less shìt version of Russia and China isn't anything to be proud off. As I said, they're not even minding their own house now.
The **** version difference between the US and China and Russia is massive, as in Russia and China, being rated at 100, and even if America were rated at 50 (it's not, or even near it INHO) Thats still a hell of a big difference. Bearing in mind that thousands are trying to enter the US daily, both legal and illegal, while the same is not happening in China or Russia. Sure, America is not perfect, far from it, but neither is it the worst place on earth. It's currently suffering from the biggest enemy of democracy, and that's democracy itself, by its very nature.
Increasing refugee numbers in Europe has been one of Putin's big destabilisation strategies for many years, and certainly one of his aims getting involved in the Syrian war. Let's face it, it's been a huge success, leading very directly to the rise of the far right across the continent
Ah c'mon, if america was a democracy Trump wouldn't get near power. It's their stupid unbalanced version of a democracy that allows the likes of this to happen. The electoral college isn't democratic, it's antiquated nonsense that's seen dipsticks like Bush and Trump elected despite losing the popular vote by millions.
And obviously never spent any time in Russia, especially in the Republic's!!! (much less in Ukraine!! )
This is a big development and could spread to other countries that are fed up of the hoards of migrants crashing against their borders. Another seed of chaos planted by russia.
According to the draft law, the proposals would excuse public officials carrying weapons from liability where they use weapons in self-defence or ‘pre-emptively’ when the ‘life, health and freedom’ of law enforcement officials are threatened during an ‘unlawful attack on the inviolability of the state border’.
It doesn't seem too drastic? I mean if you attack a sovereign state's border…. you can't expect zero repercussions.
Russia has weaponized the border, Poland should be able to defend it.
I dunno, we have report after report of incredible casualties from sources that predicted when this war will start
Did you read the part where I said that democracy will be the death of democracy? Because that's what's happening now in America. Bad and all as it may be, you should see what democracy looks like in Russia,,,or China.
Half a million men dying in 2-3 years is disastrous for demographics in a country with lowest birth rates as is and subsaharan male life expectancy before the war.
A country which is also technologically retrograding and willingly disconnecting itself from the world
There just is no way of spinning it as a positive or recovering unless Putin goes down Gilead like dystopian path
Shooting desperate unarmed refugees is how the russian scutter pump will spin it.
Apart from the ones throwing spears and I've also seen petrol bombs being thrown. Won't take long for Russian Soliders dressed as immerigrants to open fire on the Polish border patrol who can't defend themselves because of laws etc…
People (sane ones) see Russian scutter as scutter!
OK, it's a representative federal republic of 50 states, not a true democracy. Yet it is still one in which votes are freely held in confidence one in which a legal system which maintains the rights of the individual over the wants of the government, and one which culturally values reward for effort. Plus, face it, it's been critical to Ukraine defending itself even though there is no obligation for it to. Even discounting the weapons deliveries, those aren't exactly Irish aircraft and satellites feeding intelligence data to the Ukrainians and letting them use the GPS system, no matter how wonderfully democratic the country is.
Crap I think thats Trump for president now. After him nearly being shot and surviving that's him a shoe in for president, people will love that he survived and all the chanting at the end when he threw his fist out. The assassin probably was hoping to get Trump out of the white house but might now have gotten him the golden ticket into it.
I've noted when Western people say "[insert Western nation here] isn't democratic" what they often if not usually mean is "my side didn't win". EG Hardline Trump supporters in America. When he won the election, which came as a bit of a surprise(not least to him) this was a triumph for democracy, when he lost under the same system suddenly the vote was rigged and democracy was a sham. Funny that…
Political surprise is the key to spotting a democracy. Trump, Brexit, our recent referendum result etc. It's also the key to spotting non democracies. China or Russia; zero surprises. Either there's no vote to speak of like China or there is but the game is rigged and the house always wins like Russia.
Timing is everything (But it's not clear if he really had the shooter in his sights.)
Soviet Union not Russia, which had double the population and 15x the countries it does now
There’s a difference between invading and colonising
US for however stupid the Iraq and Afgan wars were, left those places, neither would one find many Americans in Serbia for example, yes alliance with Saudis is questionable but we now seen the alternative the Sunnis come up with on their own, ISIS
US could have created the worlds largest empire post WW2 having half the worlds gdp at that point, massive military and industrial capacity and sole nuclear power. They didn’t. Instead they tied previous deadly enemies into a patchwork of alliances and helped them rebuild by providing much needed capital and security (something we benefited greatly from in Ireland at no cost to us)
But imho that’s going off on a tangent, I just felt this nonsense which Russian propaganda propagates that strikes a cord with left wingers needed to be addressed
Was a Polish soldier killed by a migrant on their border with Belarus not that long ago, I think he was stabbed with something through the fence (edit: Sorry, I see your video mentioned it).
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/polish-soldier-dies-after-being-stabbed-by-migrants-border-with-belarus-2024-06-06/
Any articles I have read on this say it is all planned, and the Belarusian KGB direct/control the whole thing. The migrants are flown in, they bring them (or perhaps force them/threaten if they start to get unwilling) up to the border, and arm them as well.
Was reported before they have tried to give out guns (on Lithuanian border, where same stuff goes on), but the "migrants" were not quite up for that level of action (shooting Lithuanian soldiers/border guards).

Well, we'll know soon enough
Remember many moons ago a few articles about the Superjet. It was heralded as an example of Russia's integration into the global community. Sad how things turned out.
a vatnik nazi in the mask is nervously giggling and telling porkies how he is not afraid 😂🤣
I don't know that much about the aircraft characteristics and whether they're correct they have the advantage in close combat (i.e. dogfighting) but surely the main advantage of the F16 is that it won't need to get close to down the Russian jets as it has the link to the AWACS radar?
let em laugh
whether that gets utilised with NATO assets in the area is one question (there were statements early in the F-16 acquisition, that Link11/16 kit would be removed,so it may not even be available).
But, if the kit is there, it would explain the expedited acquisition of the Saab AWACS/ISR platform from the Swede's which would basically do this.
