is this book Any good - what does this mean about Russia?
It’s good if you want to get historical perspectives on how the world got to this point and how globalisation grew with focus on all regions of globe and various tech breakthroughs over centuries, and how the US deliberately setup the “order” to bankrupt USSR which it did quite spectacularly (and of course the Russians didn’t learn any lessons from that)
And then sets out thesis on how it fall apart, US becoming inward looking and stop policing trade lanes outside western hemisphere leading to piracy and state privateering (book was written two years before Yemenis started doing just that), we already see drones attack military targets with great success if it ever turns on civilian shipping…
A single medium sized container ship transports more than transiberian railway in a year (2019) so US navy stopping patrolling sea lanes for everyone in few key choke points and everyone else not having the navies to patrol far from home would lead to de globalisation
The book got the incredible rise of greentech and US reshoring of manufacturing right
Funnily he wrote initially that Russia be ok and then as book was going to publishing he within a week of war starting made a point that this war is the most stupidest course action Russia could have taken, there’s a few chapters on China too…
True with such corruption and incompetence at higher levels no amount of resources will make an improvement.

The credibility of the Kremlin as a member of the human race disappeared a long time ago. Not even sure there's an animal alive even to describe them as. Ukraine need help, it's unreal no one wants to step up, the world is too PC. In world war 2, the UK sent 3000 bombers, to bomb the crap out of Hamburg , killing 46000 civilians, and injuring 200,000 or more, using incendiary bombs, to cause tornadoes of fire to torch them to death, all to teach Hilter a lesson for bombing London.
Today no one will even fire a bullet in Putin's direction, sad.

I'm talking of the different mindset of those in power today, compared to back in WW2, when a plan to torch to death every man woman and child in Hamburg got the green light, and was celebrated for its success.
While today, no one will even help Ukraine to defend itself on it's own soil, against Russian military personnel and equipment

NATO should send a package to Ukraine tonight with the specific purpose of taking down the Kerch bridge. You target a children's hospital we'll take down the bridge. Next time you target defenseless civilians we'll provide the means to wipe out every military asset in or around Crimea.

It is not a game being played by allies of Ukraine to fight on Ukrainian soil. Ukraine has its own army that is defending their country and skillfully eliminating putin's armed forces. putin's continued use of terrorist tactics demonstrates the desperation they now have in trying to look like a genuine military. The only thing they can target now is civilians as Ukraine is such a large country it is almost impossible to provide air defense for everywhere. putin wants to draw in other countries to the conflict and that would just fuel his deranged desire to go down in history as some sort of great leader when it is becoming clearer every day what an embarrassment he is.

That’s an incredibly high number. Up to 728,000 !!!!! That could not be possible. No way could any leader in the present time or at any time in History burn through that many of their own citizens in a war of choice for such lackluster territorial gains.
I suspect the high end of these figures is nonsense. The Russian casualties are very high but if you believe every claim made by Ukrainian media sources the Russian army must be down a million men by now and it obviously isn't. Closer to 500,000, including injured, sounds plausible
