so this should put an end to endless back and forth about Ukrainians “not wanting defend their country”
If North Korea and Russia sign a friendship treaty, does it mean Russia will start threatening NK with nukes like they do with all their other "friends"?
All those "NATO is encircling Russia" Clare Daly types we've seen pass through here must be stricken with worry with the news that Russia has moved away over 80% of it's troops from the Finnish border. Leaving Finland open to invade.. any day now..
That last bit occurred to me too :-)
A pair of scorpions.(and Putin could be infiltrated too?)
Is it lack of shame, lack of self awareness, or just sheer cynicism, as in "we hate you and resent you and will do everything we can to weaken you, but we'll still take the best you have to offer"?
For all the jokes and memes, a more serious analysis of this infernal pact and how it plays into broader geopolitical issues is worth considering:
At a bare minimum, it allows Putin to keep prosecuting the war and killing Ukrainians in the short to medium term
Donjoe mentioned Putin brought Kim a Russian car, which he did as a gift. Russia do make a car that looks like an MB call a ZIL, but it was an MB Limousine that they were parading around in and not Putin's gift. Maybe Kim will ferry Putin back to the airport in the Zil? Or maybe not, at least until Kim has his anti-bugging team check it out?
Thought he was being ironic.
TORA TORA TORA… in the other direction
No he didnt.. thats a Mercedes-Benz, top of the range imousine .. How the two most virulent anti-western society can bring themselves to be carried in the epitome of western decadence, is one for the books..
Kim should have chatted with Armenians first and ask about their defence assurances from Russia
I don’t see how South Korea and Japan would just sit back now
No wonder Putin brought him a Russian car
Bloodthirsty media commentators have no issue with recent beheadings
Nobody in South Korea wants Russian hypersonic missiles, chemicals weapons, nukes or whatever other technology making their way to NK.
They are now incentivized to support Ukraine with the attrition of the Russian military.
That’s an interesting point, South Korea up to now mostly stayed out of this war, but now they might find a home for hundreds of tanks and all that ammo their industry which never switched to peace time footing due to still being technically at war will find its way to Ukraine
South Korean industrial capacity is several times of North Korea and then there’s Japan…
This Russia -NK pact will put noses out of joint in Seoul, also Tokyo and possibly even Beijing.
If NK support Russian atrocities, then you can be sure Russia will row in behind any aggression from NK.
If South Korea and Japan respond to the heightened threat by ramping up their military, along with the US or other Asian partners, surely this is exactly what China does not want ?
You'd have to wonder if this might be the first time Putin gets to hear the unvarnished truth about the situation on the frontline.
Kim: "Jaysus, Vlad, you're in a right feckin' mess, aren't yeh!"
Vlad: "Wha'? Sure aren't we making progress on all vectors."
Kim: "Yeah, right. Yeh might want to try browsing the Net from a non-Kremlin IP address."
Interesting assessment of the war
You cannot help laugh at Putin going to NK to boast ties while majority of the world ostracize Rusia
It's been some downfall for Putin
So…while satisfying my Wikipedia addiction with articles about the Tumen River, I stumbled upon a rather interesting territorial dispute with Russia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noktundo
Turns out, that a good chunk of the north bank of the Tumen is historically Korean. Not only that, it was also the site of some famous battles in Korean folklore. The Tumen used to fork to the north in this area, creating Noktundo Island which the Koreans used as a fort on their northern border. Eventually silt deposits joined this island with the mainland north of it. The Tumen River's course continued to the south.
When the Chinese seeded territory to the Russians, they used the exisitng Tumen river course as the demarkation line, not realising that by doing so they had also given the Russians a small chunk of Korean soil…which the Koreans didn't agree to.
Over the years Korea wanted that land back, especially since it had such historic value to them. That partly ended in 1990, when North Korea signed a treaty with the USSR to formally agree to give that land to the Russians.
However, South Korea never recognised that agreement. Meaning that Russia currently sit on a tiny chunk of land that Pyongyang gave up, but South Korea still want.
Ah FSB…what's wrong lads? Have you run out of people to copy/paste text into Yandex Translate? Might have been an idea to hold onto a couple of desk-jockies instead of mobilising them to cannon fodder duties.
only matter of time before subscription runs out like happened to this comrade
I have to say getting a new meme was not on my bingo cards for this get together
And you love it ….
The lady doth protest too much.
Its like a Ross and Rachel, will they won't they moment
It might be a plan?
Or a train or plane crash. Prigozhin style.
Although..
Shame if there were a coup while Putin was away in North Korea. .
You know that episode of Simpsons where Homer let’s Castro hold trillion dollar bill
And when he asks for it back he says “give what back”
That’s how I see this playing out 😂 and of course Russia has now set precedent that it’s ok to annex land by just waving a pen and claiming it’s yours
