Was. He was a principled left winger. Fuk knows what he is now.
So why are you conflicted about them then?
Shocking video. Vodka-sodden driver kills 9
As above, I voted for Daly as we saw eye-to-eye on most things, including allowing Shannon to be used for US military, FG neoliberalism, bailing out bondholders and all that. Then over the past few years her and Wallace's position on China, Iran, Ukraine was a definite turn off for me and obviously many others. It is a shame, as I always thought she was ballsy, intelligent and right minded but I wonder now if she's been compromised. Rooting for dicatators isn't what I voted her in for.
My daughter asked me who she should vote for. I said don't vote for Wallace, consider the other guy from Wexford. She went in, all she remembered was Wallace and Wexford, and then gave him her number 1. I told her, if he gets in by one vote, you'll be needing to find somewhere else to live😁
This isn't really the thread for that discussion, which I'd be more than happy to have with you.
Ah, but she'll be living with you until she's 40 because of the Ukranians!
Are we back on topic now?
What terms would you suggest a peace deal might be struck at?
Would Ukriane give up territory? Would they concede to Russias demands about their ability to have an independent foreign policy? Would Russia pay reparations for all the damage they caused?
To preempt the obvious response, its not sufficient to say "I dont know the terms but peace is great" etc. Youre suggesting they do a deal, you must have some idea what that deal will entail?
I thought that the idea of a pease deal with Russia - and especially with the current incumbent- is. OFF THE TABLE. Because will it not only be broken at the first opportunity - plenty of precidents - but will be ‘up and at it again’ for more territory at the first opportunity
Yep well put
BBC Steve missed one point tho I guarantee and predict that there will be Putinistas who will from now on periodically pop out of existence like a subatomic particle and say something like “but Ukranians turn down peace proposals”
100% guaranteed!
Possibly preceded by “only asking questions” and “I only want peace” and “why you all so bloodthirsty, think of the children”
Like night follows day, guaranteed, it is known.
This short tweet thread is worth the read.
Short list of the results of negotiations with Russia that it never respected:
This is another extra in the replies
Lads, the thing in Shannon where Ukrainians are being moved to Lisdoonvarna is a disgrace. Refugees will lose jobs and kids that are fighting PTSD will take another hit. It's worth contacting your TD about.
It really is a scandal. https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/social-affairs/2024/06/14/ukrainian-refugees-very-upset-at-being-moved-to-a-different-town-in-co-clare/
Didn't this also happen in Killarney? Irish government can't organize a p1ss up in a pub.
Okay great, nothing to be conflicted about anymore then. Daly sold her soul and became a shill for an evil dictator.
One has to wonder where was her concern for Palestinians in Syria and Syrians themselves who were bombed by Putin and his buddy for a decade
They are actually paying a contribution towards the rent and understand that it isn't a long term solution, but obviously there are very few houses to rent. All they really want is a couple of months notice. A fcking fortnight is outrageous.
They pay a contribution towards the cost of the accommodation and almost all of them are working, except those who are too old or too young.
This is really cruel and totally unnecessary. Just give a bit of fcking notice.
I'm not going to click on it but what's it got to do with Russia/Ukraine war?
Its intentional. The government are done with the Ukranians and want them out of the country to make room for those from other countries.
just to note.

(sorry if posted already, not arsed to check)
Unlike the Russians who pull figures out of their rears, EU is trusted source
“On January 24, we had a production capacity of one million shells per year. By the end of the year, we will have a production capacity of 1.7 million shells per year, and by 2025 we should reach 2.5 million shells per year. “

I know many would disagree with me on this, but I think Ukraine should respond to Putin's demands by saying that Ukraine would be willing to enter peace talks with Russia but with absolutely no pre-conditions attached to such talks.
They would not be obliged to agree to any concessions, it would only be to agree to talk and no more.
I don't think Putin is serious about any peace plan, as his latest demands obviously show. He would be backed into a corner with this and would reject it demanding more preconditions for talks.
This would at least show that it is not Ukraine who are refusing to enter peace negotiations.
Indeed.
Unlike the «peace-loving» centrists / Putin-bots who’ll pop up screaming «Peace!!!», I do have a Peace Plan that I think would be acceptable:
In exchange the Russians will get:
Of course, the Russians are never likely accept any of that. Meaning they need to be beaten militarily alas.
The Dutch are a fine lot
More warheads to foreheads of those who shot down MH17
Clare Daly previously said she wasn't in favour of sanctions against Russia as they would hurt ordinary Russian people, not the regime. She forgot about this view when she called for sanctions on Israel . Also she is a pure sore loser. RTE tried to speak to her plenty of times over the last few months.
that one guy moved out of the way…
Clare who? 😁
Huh. I wonder where they got those from? Would have thought the world's 152mm supply would have been bought out by now, either by Ukraine if the owners were so aligned, or by Russia if the owners were Russian-aligned.
Know your enemy. Vodka is a big part of Russia's eventual downfall.
Yeh good question, we now seem to have 5 sources of artillery
I think there's a handbag over the shoulder so it might have been a woman.
