Original thread:
Russians do their Cuban sub run every year it's nothing new
yea, they are surrounded by 4 cloaked Romulan American subs aswell.
The probable solution to latest self inflicted Russian crisis seems to be
… become a colony of China
Indeed, but it's not a comparison as such, just to demonstrate that regimes can survive harsh economic conditions. In such circumstances it can increase their grip on power, which is ultimately their primary concern.
The Russian economy could completely go down the toilet in the next e.g. decade and I wouldn't be surprised to see Putin in power all the way through. That said it would become progressively harder and much more difficult to finance such a war.
Putin just became more bitch'd to Xi.
good news the last day , hopefully it all goes down the sh*tter for them.
We might get more of this now.
Mick Wallace may very well be about to lose his seat. It's all going to come down to Green Party transfers. He needs to breech a 2k vote gap or he's done.
For sure. I read an interview with Lafontaine recently in which he pretty much said American imperialism and NATO are fully to blame for the war in Ukraine, not Russia. Wagenknecht has obviously absorbed all that from their marriage at least.
There's some big shot American historian, I forget his name but Putin fans wheel him out a lot too, he says the same nonsense.
What can you even say to these people? Waste of breath
They sure do, and 100% more so than Putin and his cronies, who are insulated in so far as everyday living is concerned. Anyone on fixed incomes, pensioners especially, but also people who would have what were considered good salaries, until inflation and a drop in value of the Ruble affected those people. No, like always, it's the people at the bottom of the pyramid who pay the price for any shenanigans at the upper levels. Unfortunately, these people are also unlikely to mount a serious challenge to Putin. That will have to come from one or more of the powerful Silovicki.
Bother me? I said "Any day the Russian economy will collapse now"
How do summarise that as bothering me. It's a good thing.
So, if I have this right
The G7 leaders are going to take out a loan of 50 billion each year, give it to Ukraine, then use the interest from the seized Russian assets to pay the interest on that loan - something like that. Plus there's a bevy of 10 year bilateral agreements for Ukraine. Putin's fallback "wait them out" goal not looking so good.
Yes Russian loot used to fight Russian looters, very nice!
Some like Biden are playing chess, others like Putin are playing tick tack toe
Yes Rhodesia in the 1970’s was a prime example. Sanctioned by most western countries it managed to survive until the Portuguese dictatorship collapsed. One country was enough to keep it going. But again they were in nothing like the situation Russia are today.
Holy crap, what the hell?!
What does he shout?
It seems Ukraine situation has improved since the GOP got out of the way of funding, wouldn't you say?
Noted Jeffrey Sachs points to BRICS as having a greater output than g7
And Saudi's moved off the petrodollar. I think the US has plenty of gas in the tank but just wondering what people here think? Is the US in decline?
quite the opposite
https://thehill.com/business/4715951-world-bank-impressive-us-economy-is-powering-the-world/
And everyone is getting an example of what a country without euros/dollars endsup like today 😂
Even if by some miracle that was true. None of the other countries in BRICS are directly supporting Russias invasion in the same way as the G7 are directly supporting Ukraines defence.
What's your opinion? Or are you just here to ask questions?
Not only F16???
I get that you don't like Russia but you do realise that the world bank is now listing Russia as the fourth largest economy?
Putting the loss of Russian lives aside which is surely likely to have a negative impact on Russia in the longer term, it's economy is doing very well at the moment. Obviously, the us has a bigger economy but I'm guessing Saudi selling in rubles is not a great outcome for the US?
Do you even read the articles you dump?
"But is this war led growth sustainable in the long run? Most economists would disagree."
We have seen this Russian misinformation before on the thread.
Its not real sustainable economic growth. It is an economy eating itself to fuel a war.
Just here to ask questions. I was thinking of taking a USD/CHF trade.
I'm finding it hard to tell. China is better at technology than the US now although not yet as inventive but the US is the US and they've a lot of gas/ oil.
My guess is they're headed for serious trouble with their debt still rising and the petrodollar falling but not sure when the market will price it in.
Anyway, I hope there'll be a ceasefire in Ukraine soon from a humanitarian perspective.
No need to be rude. I'm not even Russian btw.
It's a long term security arrangement. In 10 years time I'd say Ukraine would prefer to be flying more modern and more suitable planes than F16's. I don't think it's related to current aid packages, it's more long term, post war agreements.
You were caught out misrepresenting your own linked article and now try and fail to play the victim. I dont know why you are posting misinformation but it will be challenged when you do.
The information coming from Russia cannot be independently verified, they are pumping out misinformation about their own economy.
But sure try and distract from the chaos on the Russian stock market, currency and banks today with a misrepresented article. Anybody paying attention to the thread can see right through it, as they have done then previous times the Russian misinformation was shared.
I'd rather get paid in petrodollars than roubles. Looks like Russians would too.
Claims based on Russian provided information (with questionable PPP nonsense thrown ontop) and not independently verified
Pull the other one
No idea what you're going on about. The article points to Russia's current GDP growth and increase in world rankings. It may get worse it may get better, I don't know. It cites many economists as thinking things will get worse. I don't see how I misrepresented it. Some other posters put up a meme saying their economy is in ruins which does not seem to be true.
Anyway, what a lousy way of speaking with someone. You're accusing me of being Russian.
I came here thinking I might get an idea of what is happening in Ukraine. I haven't kept up with it that well of late. Anyway, enough said.
They weren't being rude. And you weren't accused of being Russian(Interesting that's where you lept to first).
What I was hinting at was the potential that you're acting as an apologist for Russia. There's plenty of them around that aren't of Russian nationality. Including 2 Irish MEPs(One of which has been shown the door and it's looking like the other will soon hopefully). Including dozens that have been banned from this thread.
So if you'd like to disabuse us of the notion that your sympathies lie with the Russian state then I offer you that chance now. Which is what I was doing before. In good faith.
By Russian troops leaving Ukrainian international borders right? Or would you see it as being acceptable that Russia gets to keep the land they've stolen and murdered their way across? For some sort of temporary peace?
Darth all over the Irish MEP elections
