You only have to look at all the 2017 Nissan Leafs for sale with more than 160k on them.
Mileage limit could be seen as the more limiting factor with EV warranties. 160K Km’s could be covered well before say an 8 year period.
Which EVs have short battery warranties?
So its because they've been misinformed.
..
because they don’t know enough about EVs and batteries etc. short warranties not helping either.
Battery degradation issues is the big worry for people who have never owned an EV before.
Current owners wouldn't be worried but misinformed people won't buy
why can't they? The depreciation is in large part due to the drop in price of new evs
Why would someone be afraid to buy a used one?
I don’t think it’s the grants that are the issue. It’s the second hand values. People are afraid to buy a used EV and existing EV owners can’t easily trade up.
they should, rowed back too quickly on them
it’s not an ambitious target - it’s not even feasible, so everyone is ignoring it.
“We aimed for 30% and got to 10%” is not success. Just throwing it out there - might they look at raising the grants?
What over countries use a charging arm?
The greens hate cars and by extension electric cars.
Ecars charging rates are still ridiculously high, Ryan came out against the use of charging arms for EVs in Dublin and he's done nothing to try and change the increasingly negative coverage of EVs.
He's happy to see us miss the target so he can go "EVs aren't the answer" and bring in more taxes on cars to force people to switch to buses, bikes and trains.
Thats why the PR guys are such an integral part of the political machine these days
it’s better to miss an ambitious target , than scale back and miss an realistic one.
Because Politicians never admit they were wrong, they prefer to close their eyes and stick their fingers in their ears and plough on with their delusion
Regardless of Irish Govt targets the EU will still be targeting ICE cars.
"…Emissions from transport make up a quarter of all EU emissions and half of those are from private cars..."
I think you’ve missed the point - every single car sold from today to 2030 could be fully electric, and he’d still miss this target.
Why are they not adjusting it to something that’s a stretch but achievable.
Meanwhile the push to EV is losing steam fast, and the Greens are simply doubling down on something that isn’t even feasible
every day another manufacturer announces they’re pulling back - Mercedes the latest one this past week - and manufacturers of that scale need to plan everything many many years in advance
It doesn't matter what he says he'll be out of office soon enough with his target long forgotten come 2030.
He knows this himself yet presses on with these delusional statements.
it was cheaper for me to switch from a 2007 Tiguan to an EV
Dontye numbers on fuel, maintenance etc v repayments and electricity
The only way he is getting there if theres one for everyone in the audience. lol. That man is delusional. If i was in for a new car would i buy electric. 90% chance i would and 10% chance i would buy Ice. 0% chance I would buy a Hybrid as i feel there are too many things to go wrong. ATM i will drive my current car until it wont drive anymore.
swings and round about,
Sales go up, sales go down.
to put this 30% into perspective, it’s 750,000 EV’s in the next 6 years, in a country that doesn’t even sell that many cars in total.
Eamon Ryan presses on with 2030 electric vehicle target, despite 16pc drop in sales

It's on DD.
where did you locate that, was it donedeal or a private transaction?
€12.6k 172 reg 94 Ah 76kkm ODO. This has heatpump, HK audio, sunroof, bigger centre screen, leather, LEDs, driving and traffic jam assistant+, park assist at least.
How much and what specs?
You're still doing well compared to my '21 LR. But it's great time to be on the other side as a buyer. And the used EVs are total bargains now when you compare to same class of ICE.
I'd love it more if it didnt cost me nearly 20k on the model 3!
