Secure but basic. If you want to do anything on your phone you need to use a browser in desktop mode as they technically don't support mobile banking.
I could be wrong but certain basic things require a branch visit. I don't recall if that was for standing orders or DD.
Why not have the DD on revolut? I have one for circle k on revolut works fine.
It's pretty bad. Once I got it set up I don't really have to touch it though. To set up/edit standing orders you can email them a form so no need for a branch visit. If you lose your phone/reset it/need to uninstall and re-install the app then they will need to post out your one time activation code so you will be locked out of your account for a few days which is a pain but should be something that doesn't happen often
Yeah I've got Metal so I get that luxury for free with N26, but only some banks will even accept the instant transfer.
Could you add money to Revolut by charging an N26 debit card? Should be instant and I think N26 don't have card fees
Paying for a metal plan I'm not sure translates to having a "luxury for free" 😆
Never tried that.
And if you're planning on getting a new phone, ask EBS for an activation code for the new phone well in advance. The letter with the new code has a shelf life of several weeks so you can ask for it before you get your hands on the new phone. Your old phone will continue to work to approve a login to online banking until you activate the new phone.
This letter is why I consider them fairly good on the security side of things. A lot of other banks fall down on a sim swap hacking point of view but this actually makes someone accessing your ebs apps fairly well protected while feeling fairly antiquated at the same time.
Might be worth a try, I know it works for Wise as a fee free way to get money into Revolut
Has anyone had issues using Revolut in the USA? I've been using it without issue at say restaurants, bars, shops etc. but it never works with public transport.
They have a system where you can tap your card at the turnstile at train and metro stations, but my Revolut card never works. I've even tried buying one of their travel cards / tickets at the machine but it always refuses it.
What is it about the transport payment system there that causes this issue?
It's a big place, what public transport system are you referring to? Most if not all cities have their own authorities and operators.
On a side have you tried contactless via apple/Google pay and the physical card, does it behave same each way?
Tap did not work a couple of times for me in the States
Other times it did
It could simply be location security in the app not working right as it isnt sure where you are
I've tried it in New York and Chicago. Used tap on the turnstiles and the ticket machines. Also tried inserting it and using my pin. Has never worked!
Have you tried tapping through Apple or Google Pay?
Yup. It just says that the payment has been reverted whenever I try to pay. Is it possible that I have some kind of security feature turned on that would cause that to happen?
trying to send money from my Revolut to N26 but it won’t let me transfer 500/300/200 today, account restricted. Yesterday it allowed me transfer 200 and 100 but not the 800. Today it says forbidden, yesterday it was password incorrect which is incorrect as I use fingerprint. any ideas what the issue is?
Finding these quirks typical of Revolut, the payment institution that wants to be a bank, is a bank but you cannot use it for your banking. It’s becoming a unreliable
This was posted by the financial advisor Eoin McGee on his stories. So what's the deal with Revolut? Does the deposit guarantee apply?
Please keep opinions on the man to yourself in replying, I just want the facts.
Money in a Revolut currency account are protected under the guarantee.
money in Savings Account on Revolut is an investment and covered up to 22k. It’s all made fairly clear when you sign up.
Maybe turn off location based security?
I did some googling and it looks like NY subway might require a ZIP code when buying a metrocard, people say entering 99999 sometimes works
However there does seem to be several people mentioning issues with Revolut specifically even when they enter a fake ZIP code
Had to cancel my Revolut debit card and get anothet reissued, it was mastercard and the new one is now Visa....are they phasing out Mastercard debit cards ?
ah yes I know 😅
I only got Metal with N26 to take advantage of the 4% interest so anything else is a bonus 😅
24k Gold plated and Ultra (as well as pro cards) are still Mastercard but it does look like the others have moved to Visa Debit. I've one of each at the moment and no notification to get it reissued from them ... yet.
Took 3 seconds to find this on google

Ah so you must have 50k in trade republic then and at least 20k in N26 to make the metal pay for itself ;) if I could do same with N26 I would be doing the same but had to go with raisin in a few countries instead 😁
I must try that next time I'm in the US.
In Chicago I tried a real ZIP code for the area I was staying in but it still refused payment. They sure know how to make it difficult! Maybe I should go back to cash…
Yeah I looked into Raisin too but looks like a more cumbersome setup and extra paperwork for the DIRT stuff. Happy enough with the Metal card; includes travel + phone insurance too so the cost all in all is pretty minimal and covered by the extra interest I wouldn't get elsewhere.
All depends on the country the money is in and Tax. I stick to the ones with no withholding tax by the bank country. As such it's the same end result when reporting to revenue at the start of the year for the previous year. You will have to declare the interest earned in n26 and they will take 33% tax of the declared amount.
Hmmm the best Raisin has right now seems to be 3.5% and the money is tied also for 3 months / 6 months. Will stick with the 4% and Metal
Anyone using a virtual card for their joint account and notice the card design changed? It was all blue originally and now changed to blue and green on my Apple Pay. Wife’s is still the original all blue design. Not a big deal just curious why it changed.
Yeah EBS has no banking app. Only an online banking website. However thats where Revolut comes in. Best of both with no fees on the EBS current account. Free banking since UB left and no word of EBS shuttering yet.
