Rather I have the 1% than letting them have it with some minor planning at the end of the day.
At the same time I've often lost track of the other account balance and not done a Friday exchange to realise on the Saturday and say well it's only 10$ per 1000$ not even 1 drink.
N26 don't do the same but they also give a marginally worse rate than revolut to begin with.
Definitely once you're used to Revolut it's useful to know but it seems to be the first bit of advice given to people considering joining and it might be offputting imo
Meh, Revolut do 1% at the weekend, everyone else does ??% every single time you exchange money.
It's really six of one and half a dozen of the other.
Only thing with Revolut is you can avoid it completely if you want, if you plan in advance.
Also Revolut has monthly exchange fair-use limits before attracting fees. The free plan is €1000 after which attracts 1%.
N26 uses the Mastercard exchange rate with no markup. AS @optiplexgx270 mentioned, this is marginally worse than Revolut, but no similar limits or additional fees. The difference is very small eg on a £100 transaction. N26 will be €0.39c more expensive than Revolut at time of this post.
At the end of the day all of these fees being discussed are relatively small for anything under a grand.
Do you mean €0.39 (i.e. 39c) or .39c (i.e. less than half a cent)? I assume the former…
Or did he mean c for the speed of light? In which case the fee would be €117,000
Might be a bit steeper than the currency exchange shop in that case 😉
€0.39.
Don't spend it all at once.
When I transfer funds (euro) from Revolut to my BoI account it normally transfers on the same day. When I done a transfer early today it advised an estimated transfer date of tomorrow 2nd May. Could this be due to the May day holiday in some European countries or a change in their policy?
Today is a European Bank Holiday. Notices on AIB and BOI online banking portals.
When I add funds from my credit card it's more or less instant, when I add funds from my current account (same bank) it takes at least until the next day, is this the same for everyone?
Thats because one is a sepa imstruction and the other is a credit card payment
If you pay anyone by Sepa,it takes a few hours to a day depending on if its a week day or the sepa instruction is done before the daily cut off time usually 3pm
Thats always been the way
No SEPA payments on May Day, whole system is shut down like it’s Christmas.
It's always been the way but it's 2024 guys, just not good enough. If it can be done for one type of payment it can be done for all.
Which is also very silly and unnecessary
MOD: There is an entire legal framework and commercial realities in that mix that you are ignoring and this is not the place for discussions on public policy etc..
No. I add funds from my AIB current account and its almost instant - ie within 2-3 minutes.
Nice little feature I've only noticed today.
My Revolut credit card had a small balance and a refund came through which would have put me in credit. The excess balance instantly gets moved to current account.
As a SEPA payment? That’s not my experience with AIB and Revolut. The only one that’s instant is card/Apple Pay, SEPA and easy banking take a few hours to a day.
Or 24 to 48hrs if requested at the weekend
Added money to my Revolut account from AIB using the easy bank option and it took two and a half hours. A lot quicker than SEPA but not instant.
Easy Bank Transfer is just a customer facing name for PSD2 Open Banking payment initiation with a SEPA push transfer to do the actual payment. It took 2.5 hours because you happened to initiate it 2.5 hours before one of the two daily batches, same as any SEPA transfer (that isn’t SEPA Instant).

Isn't SEPA supposed to be instant by next year? The ECB wants it to be an alternative to MasterCard or Visa
Don't think taking a day off will fly in that case
In any case, transfers from Revolut to Wise are always instant for me. It's only when you hit an Irish bank that it suddenly takes longer than the average A&E queue
I may have asked this question here before but how do I transfer funds from my Revolut account to my bank current account?
When you go into your account press Payments, and if you sent money before to the account you want to send to it should be there. If not press the + symbol on the top right and add the details there.
SEPA from Revolut to N26 is instant too.
Irish banks in the stone ages.
A pity N26 charge standard account holders a fee to send it elsewhere instantly though. If you send before 9am on a working day though it usually gets to the other account the same day AFAIK.
Is it possible to transfer instantly from an EBS current a/c to Revolut ?
You can top up the Revolut account by an EBS debit card and that will be instant. A SEPA transfer from EBS to Revolut will not be though.
Thanks !
I'll go that route so - With the EBS looking after Direct Debits and bill paying and the Revolut doing the day to day stuff
That's what I do and it works quite well. I rarely need to look at the EBS account
Great - that's what I'm going to do - just wondering how is the EBS online experience ?
