You'll be boycotting mobile phones as well I suppose raspberry.
Nothing has an infinite supply, including diesel but lithium supply won’t be running short anytime soon.
On your other point, a modern diesel power train is a lot more complex than the equivalent electric, so you will have no shortage of things to repair as it ages, enjoy.
sticking to fossil feuls because lithium has only a finite supply of? Thanks for the laugh.
Fair enough
Ice only went 250kmh on that stretch in January
Yeah, it doesn't take much effort to find that the maximum speed on the German rail network is 300kph.
I think Mad Lad was on the Boeing Inter City Express….😁
Well whatever about now, certainly when I was on it it definitely got to 400 at one stage, I saw it with my own eyes, again, that was 8/9 years ago. I'll never forget how butter smooth it was.
Anyway, since the energy crisis maybe they've had to slow down to conserve energy ?
Their tracks aren't rated for more than 300kph. Trains that operate in Germany are capable of higher speeds which they achieve in neighbouring countries, but the ICE for example can't do more than 320kph.
Maybe it was ICE 417 you were travelling on and thought that was the speed?
Must have turned on the rex.
No there was a screen in each carriage that tells you the speed you're going. I should have taken a photo lol.
Turbo rex ! 😉
I was delighted with the 250kmh, that's why I took the photo. And can concur on the smoothness, top class. The punctuality of German trains isn't what it once was though.
And he drives a skyactive diesel, probably the worst diesel engine ever made😊
hi folks…
Any thoughts on the 2022 Kona Premium 64kWh?
My sister is on the hunt for a 1st EV and it’s popping up in the right area in terms of cost/finance…. (€25k with 16@k km on the clock…
It’s this vs a 2023 version but only 39kWh…. They do regular enough trips from Waterford to Dublin so I’m swaying her towards the 1 year older 64kWh version…
any thoughts?
Go with the 64kWh definitely. The earlier versions of the Kona have had problems with the reduction gear and traction motors. Not sure if it was sorted by 2022 versions. Either way the warranty is 5 years so should cover you until 2027. Range is excellent and they are a comfortable drive. Spec and backseat space is a bit lacking but if that works for her then she should be ok.
Waterford to Dublin in 39kwh Kona , no she'll murder you. Ward off that.
Go for the 64kwh Kona and give her a 12V battery charger for Christmas.
Model 3 available for around that price too, slightly older 2020 maybe. Think you might have one yourself 😁
yeah, she couldn’t live with a Model 3, and won’t buy a new Model Y (or any Tesla) because Musk is too much of a Cee U Next Tuesday….
I think she’s going to go and look at the 64kWh Kona. As I had already completely advised against the 39kWh version…
Check the spec on the Kona, when I test drove it a few years ago it was a Paddy Spec with no android auto, no adaptive cruise etc ..lower spec than my Ioniq 28 at the time. It was upgraded at some stage but not sure when.
Solid car with decent efficiency and range.
Annoying things I found on Hyundai were the lane assist being way too aggressive (my Dad has a new Niro and he has to turn it off everytime he gets in the car as lives rural) and auto hold being auto off every time you stop.
2022 one has wired android auto but no adaptive cruise control
I am not a fan of Lane assist and you can turn it off via a button on the steering wheel
But I do like auto steer on the motor way (keeps you centered in the lane) handy if you want to have a drink and can take your hands off the wheel for 20 seconds or so
Auto hold stays and on until you turn the car off
I have the 64kwh, the range is great and while the charging speed isn't ideal it is grand, if you are stopping to grab some food it will be topped up enough by the time you are done
So my sister put a deposit down on this today…

planning to go with an MG ZS EV. I searched other discussions but couldn’t find much info. What are your random MG ZS EV thoughts? What should be checked if you want to buy one of these cars
What's this?
Pretty sure it’s the Opel version of the Citroën Ami called the “Rocks-e”.
Came across this grant ad.

Do some research on Public charging comparability.
I met a lady at a public charger who couldn't use it with her MG because the MG wasn't following protocols.
Wha?? What are you talking about? She probably didn't take the cap out to plug in the CCS cable... Compatibility my hole.
Nope.
Was a software incompatability.
Confirmed by the EV charger provider.
(This was gridserve in the uk)
