True, so much for the “March, in like a lion, out like a lamb” bullcrap also.
In like a lion,out like a sealion
Perhaps the last comparable year I can remember to this is 2012/2013. Fall of 2012 was unreal wet, and it persisted well into the Spring. Had a heatwave then later in Summer.
Was looking at the lads on boards weather. The wet weather since June was because of the extra high sea temperature last summer.
Anyway we have to just work through it,
In keeping with the biblical theme, I was talking to a Corkman this morning. He said our Lord wouldn’t be able to walk across a field today never mind the Sea of Galilee.
I got stuck with the jeep this morning where I had no problem going last week.
There on the way to .......
30 mls in measure this morning after 20mm Mon morning and 80mm in forecast (ME) for next 9 days - almost 10mm per day.
Bit more positive in north Clare today, lovely dry morning and the forecast is reasonably optimistic in terms of rain anyway. Still quite cold for the time of year though.
Yes of course the extra rain leading to pressure on fodder is all the fault of the Green party. If only they had warned us about climate change coming so we could have made changes.
Running them out of power will undoutedly bring the sunshine back. Sorted.
Whataboutery and continuing to do the same thing will only lead to worsening weather patterns. Every country has to play its part. Reductions in carbon production is needed in every industry including farming.
So how will getting rid of the Greens improve the situation?
The straw incorporation measure was estimated to reduce cereal straw by 1.25 million bales in 2023. Those 1.25 million bales were badly needed by livestock farmers for bedding and feed. This bedding/feed straw eventually gets spread on the ground in the form of farmyard manure/dung helping to maintain fertility and nutrients. It is specifically important to any farmers in the organic scheme. I accept that there is a argument for the additional use of diesel to bale and transport this straw but I reckon that is offset by a handful of long distance flights out of Dublin or Shannon airports.

I suppose you believe all the Kate Middleton Shiite as well…….
Pray tell what magical things you are doing to reduce your carbon footprint .......let's look for example at your job description. I think maybe we need to half your yearly use of transport possibly cut your wages in half. I know we don't need to go down the route of you cutting out flights and holidays maybe getting rid of your mobile phone .......all these cuts are necessary you know. Save the planet and all that
Immigration has nothing to do with this thread.
All of that is reasonable. I don't think straw or bedding is doing major damage.
I was referring more to cattle feed and reducing herds with more diversification. This leads to reduced carbon loss and this is what the Greens are promoting.
Nothing magical about it. Again more whataboutery but if you want to know I work from home 2 days a week which reduces my transport emissions. My wages have stayed the same. I have a bicycle that I use on weekends for short trips and leisure cycles. But I use my car for longer distances.
I haven't been on a plane in 2 years and even before that I was averaging no more than 1 flight a year so your advice on that is for other frequent flyers.
I also look after my fathers farm as he is getting on and I am trying to do in as sustainably as possible.
Believe what? She has cancer I believe that much. Strange bringing her into this. Seems it's you that has an interest in her more than me.
The Greens are against slashing down rain forests. And it is the dairy industry that is causing the most damage here and the Greens want to reduce that damage. I'm not in favour of large volumes of Brazilian beef coming into Ireland but Phil Hogan is more to blame for that than the Greens.
No I won't 'move along'. I'm just as entitled to be here as you.
Can we get back on topic please folks, plenty of other forums for that kind of over and back bickering.
The windscreen of the jeep was frozen this morning when I went to check on a cow at 4.15am. It began to drizzle at around 5am but thankfully it stopped. Sunny/overcast here at the moment but the forecast doesn't look promising for the first week of April.
What has a Prince's wife got to do with it? I heard she edited a photo and it made big news for some unknown reason but that's about my extent of recent news of her. Is there something else I should know or is the doctored photo the "Kate Middleton Shiite"? Either way, I've no idea at all why you would bring up that topic here as I can not tie the two polar opposite subjects together unless I'm missing some vital information so apologies in advance if that is the case but I no interest in the lives of a foreign family who don't make any direct impact to my life (that I am aware of).
Just saw @Westernview's reply above mine. Didn't know she had cancer. Again, I don't follow such trivial titbits of news like that as they have no meaning or impact to my life. I hope she recovers OK and apologies again for speaking off topic but I didn't start the discussion of the foreign familys health status.
Same here in the west at 8am. Windows frozen. Hopefully April will come good.
Next 7 days looking ok here, finally
where abouts
Nice morning here a continuation from yestarday, no frost like yestarday mornin
Just in from the yard & the birds are flat out chirping....Great to hear
Alot of people swear by the new moon changing the weather and that's on the 10th of April.i had a look at long range there now which are unreliable but it's not looking good.
Ah will ya stop. Sun is shining today, let us enjoy it!
Heading for 36 hours without rain here now, summer has landed 😂😂
Blaming the government for our woes this year is childish and pathetic
Duck it, last post I saw about the new moon had it on the 7th. it will not come till mid month at this rate.
