So the balls-up has started since last night which makes Fairview from clontarf to Edges corner a single lane with bollards down the centre.
This will be a permanent feature and works will take 21 months.
Here is the article in question and the video is well worth a watch. It is absolutely shocking stuff:
So much poor design.
I think there are certain disability groups that would have insisted on that bike crossing light at the bus stop just because they hate cyclists so much, the road for turning left not having one wouldn't have been their priority
Which is insane, surely a car driving high speed into that turn is much more dangerous to a blind person then a bike lane.
Keep in mind this bus stop is on an island between 4 roads, so a blind person would need to cross one of these roads, two of them are signalised, but another two aren't. If a blind person was crossing these, it would be highly dangerous for them!
i don't think logic comes into it it's just down to people like gary kearney hating cyclists and wanting to make things difficult for them if possible
Reminds me of the Vibration strips they painted on the Clontarf road... Amazing the way the non-cycling public are all up in arms looking for restrictions, however when it comes to motor vehicles they're out protesting that their rights are being taken away!

Shocking noise tonight, I hope it doesn't go on all night.
Still no sign of them putting back those bus stops on North Strand. Can't see anything being finished by June.
Yeah stop go system outside da mimmo last night with huge tailbacks either side. Massive digger and trucks at work. I'll go down later and nothing will have changed as usual.
It’s there for the weekend but there won’t be any works overnight tonight.
They are rebuilding the road so it is going to be noisy.
Same again in two weekends time.
The links at the top of this page explain all https://www.dublincity.ie/residential/transportation/active-travel/projects/clontarf-city-centre-project
Section of bike lane at Westwood has had red surfacing/paint applied. Maybe the difference in colour will make a small percentage of drivers aware they shouldn't be stopping in it.
The cycle lane on Griffith Avenue constantly swaps between yellow sections and red sections. I think it is yellow for sections with kerbing and red for sections without, drive ways, etc.
It maybe makes a bit of sense at Westwood, but is completely moronic the way it constantly changes on Griffith Avenue, makes it pointless.
I'm sure 100% of drivers are aware that they shouldn't be stopping in it, most just don't give a fk and I don't think red paint will change that.
They had the stop-go there at the weekend and another one at Portland Row just to add to the carnage.

^ With another new set of traffic lights to manage cars that cyclists might meet on Alfie Byrne Road, less than 10 metres away from an existing set of traffic lights. Planning 0 - Boot 1
And there’s no lights to turn into the park from outbound c2cc, as far as I can remember.
Looks great but I certainly wouldn't use it after dark....
With the type of clientele that frequent stretch I wouldn't use it in daylight either.
True story

There is a total contradiction between putting stuff like this in and the state's abject failure to have this city properly policed.
That will be no-go in short order.
Far from being a benefit it's just another liability.
Anyone with eyes would tell you the same. That particular cycle lane is going to be like used regularly alright but not for it's intended purpose.
It's a decent article in fairness. The entire stretch of the project has been treated like a dump for coming on 2.5 years now. It wasn't until the new bus stops were put in over the past couple of months that were was actually any public bins from Fairview to Connolly station.
I'd disagree about the concerts though. Think they've been a great addition to the area and they are always finished early enough.
Ffs, I jog and cycle through Fairview park all the time, at all hours of the day and night. The odd scrambler in there doesn't turn it into a no go zone. We really have a lot of drama queens on this site. People afraid to walk through Fairview park during the day lol, that's proper agoraphobic stuff.
Yer wan Janet Horner called into my house yesterday canvassing, she seems nice. Seemed to think the whole C2C works should be finished by July, but didn't seem too sure of it tbh.
It's nowhere near as bad as you think.
That one strip by the Tolka is a kip. It's nothing to do with what I think either. On a half decent day you'll see lots of pond life hanging around that particular stretch.
That one particular part of the park is rough and has been for a while now. The rest of the park is perfect fine. My kids go to the playground all the time and I use it to get to Westwood every other day.
I've never noticed anything dodgy going on there myself. It's actually surprising how many normal people are just walking around the park at night in the darkness too.
Yeah, the rest of the park is fine. There would usually be a few junkies/dipsos hanging around that part once the weather gets better with the North face tracksuit wearers dropping them stuff off.
Scramblers aren't that big of a problem in the park, at least from what I've seen. They seemed to have clamped down on them in general in the area which is great to see.
This Part of the park is fine too, I’ve walked this new cycle path three times in the past week and saw zero anti social behaviour or anything like that.
This will likely become very popular route with cyclists and office workers walking and cycling between East Point and nearby offices and the other side of the park.
Trust me, you’ll be grand.
And with the new residential buildings all being built beside the petrol station there.
As long as people use these amenities they nearly self police themselves. Real problems come when people don’t use them due to scaremongering and the like
Sure wasn’t it gonna be the end of world extending the Luas to Broombridge……
