How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

RTE news : Public sector pay deal formally ratified by unions

I'm going to buy myself a PS5!
any idea when it will come into affect?
January 1st (backdated).
When will you see it in your paycheck? May or June more than likely.
Is this likely to end the hse recruitment embargo
I'd doubt it
What embargo, they hired a record 6000 people last year and have a budget to hire 2,200 more this year
there is a recruitment freeze in the HSE since last year. originated with admin grades and has since been extended to include pretty much all staff except for nurses and doctors.
i'm sure they're still hiring people through agencies though.
today's ratifying of the pay deal won't effect the recruitment freeze though as the freeze is to try and combat overspends in the health service budget.
Rte going with the headline 10.25 %😱
Do it
Teacher union voted en masse to accept the deal and immediately their conference blathers on about not being able to retain/recruit
Trundle on, you had your chance only weeks ago.
Why wouldn't they?
Our own unions pitched it as such
The circular for the first pay adjustment..

I know it'll probably be May before its applied (and for some unfortunately slow areas probably 2025😝) but has any got an indication of when it'll show up in our wages?
My department are usually fairly quick with these things so I'll be checking every fortnight just to see what it works out as in my pocket.
My place have told us it that they are aiming for our next paycheck which is the end of the month for me.
Hi there, does anyone know if when we get the lump sum that is backdated, will it be taxed as if it had been included in our weekly etc pay-cheque from January? I'm not a tax expert but I'm assuming that if it were just added to one pay-cheque it could end up being taxed higher than it would otherwise
In most places, yes, your credits are split across weeks/months normally so it will be taxed like you got a decent raise and then revert to normal the next month. This said, if you are over 3.5k/month, that makes no real difference, you are already on the higher bracket. If you are under , unless this bumps you over, it will make no real difference. If you do cross the threshold for that month, you won't actually lose money though, any over taxation will come back through your balancing statement at the end of the year.
It makes no difference, you wont pay anymore tax than if you had received it in each pay issue since January.
that’s not necessarily true. If someone is paying below the 40% threshold, the backdating will be above that
As above, a year end balancing statement will give them the difference next year
Not correct, if they are normally at the 20% rate a d this bumps them up into 40% for a week then the extra tax they paid is refunded over the next few weeks/months depending on how near the 40%threshold they are.
Revenue now actually do throughout year balancing through tge PAYE system.
Got to love this country. Government has it legal that companies have been able to change their terms&conditions to allow them to apply an in term inflation (plus a bit more I think) matching increase without breaking contracts.
Previously this really annoyed people in relation to just energy but now it's across broadband, TV, and other services.
Yet when we ask for inflation matching increases we get told that it's inflation driving and our own colleagues say that it is not right to do.
One rule for companies and another for the working pleb
Not correct, Revenue since PMOD in 2019(iirc) runs in real time and do balancing throughout year on the PAYE system.
The NSSO payroll have been sent the file for the pay increases. The pay increases and back pay should be reflected in wages in the next few weeks
I was told weekly paid staff will get payment on 19th April and fortnightly would be 25th April.
Just in from NSSO.
For weekly paid staff, payment will be made on 19 April 2024;
· For staff paid on alternate fortnights, pay date 18 April 2024;
· For fortnightly paid staff, payment will be made in 25 April 2024.
New HSE payscales here..
Well my increase won't even make a dent in inflation pressure.
