The majority of drivers could not pass, no matter how hard they tried. That get's a little boring pretty quickly. If you were 12th, you stayed 12th, 15th stayed 15th. Both Truex and Bubba complained over their radios about it. It reminded me of the Kansas fall race of 2020, a near zero ability to pass other cars. 4.5/10 for me.

The winner passed loads of cars. First, second, fourth, fifth and sixth all went by a lot of cars.

Truex despite the pitstop got back into the top10.

The issue seems to be clean air. It looks like every car suffers in the draft. Harvick used a different line, it was called the Harvick line. He just found a way to keep his car clean and pass people. Bell did that the other night. Buescher did it too.

Bristol today ford qualifying well . But Hamlin qf well and has a fast car .I'd fancy him today

So tyre wear is the topic of the evening. Does it make sense to drive hard and gain position, then pit, or drive slow and lose spots. It'll be interesting but we know the random cautions will make it a lucky break for some.

It was a great race, Nowso called it.

It was entertaining race , they avoided another caution near the end . Gibbs went to hard on his tires , Hamlin took a bit more time coming from the back

Yeah it was a pretty good race. There was action all over the track, so many passes, and it was fun watching so many guys hang on for dear life with their tyres. I thought the tyre wear was a little excessive though. It was fun but a little too extreme.

But the tactics were wrong. They were gambling on yellows that never came. They guys that took care of their tyres were at the front when it mattered.

Truex and Hamlin are famous for long run wins.

A tire fall-off window of 80-90 laps or even 100 laps would have been great, rather than the 40-50 that most drivers could endure

Cota at 7.45 . something very different

Gotta love this no track limits. Cars so far wide beyond the kerbs. Remind me again, any caution for the stage breaks?

    Yes there are cautions

I see SVG is a little higher up the field as it's a road course. Should be interesting seeing him on the restarts and if he can capitalise.

Kyle Larson got a really bad break, the got spun and then had to wait for nearly everybody to go by him to get going again.

If I was the crew chief I'd have had him come in and change strategy to the off normal pit stops like Bell.

the cautions at the break have worked well here . we might get another one b4 the end

Byron Bell and Gibbs . there going to be up there in most races this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,719 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Not really the most exciting race really. I prefer these cars on super speedways.

Decent race. A bit dull like the day itself. Byron is out-of-this-world good. Remember he had 20 top10's last year. Insane numbers that he'l likely replicate this year. Bell made it very interesting and his team's strategy almost paid off so I think they'll have learned a lot. Otherwise, some spins here, mid pack battles there, but Byron was always going to win. Hats off to Bubba Wallace. Going from dead last, hopelessly last, to turn his day around to get a top 15.

You need all different types of races, it makes it the Premier motor car championship in the world in my opinion. Unfortunately I don't think there's any dirt races this year but even without them, you got regularl oval races, Superspeedways, road courses and a street circuit.

I can't believe this. Turned on the NASCAR and it was raining and I was depressed because you don't know if it'll go ahead or not. Then they interview Alex Bowman and he says he can't wait to go on the wet tyres as it should be really interesting on an oval.

Hopefully this is a thing they'll do on all tracks from now on and no waiting to see if a race will get going.

Anyway, Bowman had a serious car in qualifying and practice and he's my pick for tonight coming off a good performance last week.

Only in the door. So red flag to let everyone change onto slicks. Let's go racing....

Two men must be sick after that, Truex because there was a yellow with him about 100 yards from the white flag and losing first place on pit road and Logano losing the front row. I think if Logano had been on the front row he'd have won it.

a bit like a couple of races back and Hamlin wins again , Toyota look very strong

    martinsville at 8 .

Bubba has a good car. Then along comes Hamlin and goes to the front. Boring.

I'm sure Truex will make a move shortly. Oh wait Chase Elliott just passed Hamlin. I'm still hoping Bubba does it.

Great strategy call from Byron's team won the day. Clean air was a huge factor.
