Anybody have recent pics of the work going on at Tuam and/or Hyde Park?
Also, didn't they just put in nice new bucket seats in the stand in Clones?
I thought I saw that on tv and it looked good.
Great job on the seats in Wexford Park aswell.
I don't have any pictures from the Hyde but they have the majority of the precast work done.
I'd say it's at 90% complete ,I'd expect they will be putting the seating in within a week .
AFAIK then they are going to start work on the upgrading of the dressing room and new toilets .
I'm not laughing at the situation rather the fact that someone thought that was adequate journalism.
Could have made the same point better without the "poor auld Johnny" stuff.
It looks like the end of the road for the current casement. Even if it is , the government should still give the 50 million to development casement in to a stadium like tullamore or healy park
What 'poor auls Johnny' stuff? Are you projecting a bit there Breezy?😁
Johnny is the fan interviewed in the article. The whole article is just his non expert opinion.
Meath seam to be all over the place with there redevelopment. According to the article they are buying the precast themselfs and then going to get a contractor to put it up. Does not sound the best way to go about a modern stadium project.
Now he isn't 'expert enough'.🙄
He is not just a 'fan', he is in business and works hard locally for the GAA who facilitate the final every year with no little effort. How 'expert' do you need to be to see the problems he foresees?
He is described as a fan and nothing else in the "article"
Maybe you know the man but if he has some input other than being " a super fan" then it's on the media outlet for not reporting that. He is nothing more than a fan to anyone reading that.
Even he was 'just a fan', he didn't do the 'poor auld Johnny' nor was his opinion inexpert, he was bang on in fact.
You are just being mealy mouthed. Wrong side of the bed or not enough coffee?
I see the UK government are not going to talk about funding untill they know the final price but the problem is you can have pre tender price done by a QS firm but its only when you get the construction tender returned you get the true price
Any person/firm putting their name on a cost estimate will inevitably err on the side of caution as they won't want tenders coming back higher than their estimate as that will look bad for them. This isn't going to help the case for the stadium.
I assume sign off is required before the tender process can start which requires an estimate so it’s a Catch22.
This casement saga is getting more odd. BBC is saying now there will be long term terraces and full seating only for the euros
A terrace at one end was always the plan.
Are sure all the drawings and articles was it was going to be an all seater there was no mention of terraces
Terrace at one end in this
Yip you are both right i looked at the planning again. You would think for the sake of only gainning 4k extra capcaity they would leave the seats in. The useage in the planning in interesting and how many times a year it will be used
I thought 'all seated' was the ideal from an insurance point of view. Maybe not.
It's not about the 4k but rather the fact many sports fans like terraces.
So £308m is the figure the Department in NI has given to the UK government. It seems part of the cost uplift is due to UEFA requirements. Can't see the UK government putting up £150m, even the GAA know the stadium can't be justified at that sort of cost.
With UEFA is that due to the Number of Turnstiles at the entrances and the media space needed for a Cat 4 Stadium?
I'd assume that more commentary positions, media desks, etc. would be required. Also, the standard of finish probably would have to be much higher for UEFA than GAA. I don't know if a big screen would also be expected for the Euros.
Media facilities inside and outside is probably a big part of it. UEFA love their corporate hospitality too.
It was always unlikely to go ahead for many different reasons listed and discussed on here over the years.
Can we now say definitively that it's dead in the water?
I think we can unfortunately.
Kildare's Redevolpment is progressing well
Looks similar to the facilities in Mallow and some other big clubs. A county the size of Kildare should be embarrassed at this attempt. Its turning out like their senior footballers...less than the sum of its parts.
How many clubs have capacity for 15k people, included 3k seated? This is an appropriate development, several other counties should be looking to do the same; good facilities in a modern covered stand and terraces on the other sides. It'll be far superior to club grounds. Kildare have a separate training centre with multiple pitches.
Very few I would say. Parc ni Rinn in Cork is 16k capacity with 5k seated but tgat is a county owned ground, Austin Stacks is 15.5K and I doubt if it seats more than 3-4k and again it's used for intercounty matches.
The biggest club grounds are about 5k with a covered standing area for a few thousand.
Rubbish. It's perfect for Kildare and it's what casement should be, except there, the capacity should be less.
The Fact the Kildare stand is set at 3k does that mean thats the min size the gaa will allow for big championship games so we dont have a newbridge or nowhere again
