Lovely cars very classy. I heard they will be priced from €37,000
I like the #3 better but not sure about the very high centre console, it looks like it might be a little claustrophobic in the front. I would have to see one in the flesh to make a proper decision though so I will keep an open mind.
The photo on the landing page looks like a kia esoul (left) and BYD (right)
i instantly thought of BYD. both front and back are very similar.
The Soul EV ain't that ugly 🤣
I wonder if the Smart branding is going to affect these, when I think Smart I think of the dinky car, the Smart #3 looks pretty decent but I can't imagine people thinking of them.
It's similar underneath to the EX30, the Volvo brand may have a better reputation.
I see theres a 251 offer on the #1 bringing the price down to 25K!

I like what I see so far - it’s a car you’d be happy to be seen in
I don't see any offer or sales incentive in those figures? The official RRP is 30,800 for the basic spec. Minus standard vrt relief (1,984) and SEAI grant of 3,500 leaves you with 25,316. No discounts that I could catch? Unless that headline RRP figure has some kind of booster built into it perhaps?
Taking the Inster on head to head with those specs anyway.
I think that due to how VRT relief and grant works they have adjusted RRP, but for example Smart #1 Brabus according to this article https://www.carzone.ie/car-reviews/smart-1-2024/1136 used to cost 54k and is no 38k
Will someone/anyone please tell me why I shouldn’t buy a Smart #1? I’m interested in hearing criticism of the car but also very interested in hearing any owners thoughts. I’m certainly considering a purchase - I might end up going for a secondhand Cupra Born but I like the idea of a brand new car circa 30k
I only saw one and sat in one at the NEVO show but was impressed with it. I dont personally like the exterior design, looks a little bit like Mini countryman or something, defo dont think it looks as well as a Born, but if you do and you also like how it drives (I have no idea) then no reason not to buy one.
Is the 30k one well specced? I see them being listed all the way up close to 40k and I suspect that's the ine I was sitting in. Born not too much more expensive.
Thanks - intend to explore over coming week- especially if I can get a 30k version for 25k - let’s see how it goes- and yes, overinflated MINI is a good description of the exterior
I could see #1 having some downsides vs competing cars. It is a very tall car which means very poor economy and low range especially during longer journeys. Renault 5 with smaller battery has very similar range. For example #3 has same battery but thanks to better shape a bit better range. Boot is really small even in its class. 27cm shorter Renault 5 has larger boot.
I drove one last week, I think its a very nice car to drive. The interior infotainment is probably the nicest I have used. Spec is nice but the Pro version at 25k the dealers are very reluctant to order. The Pro+ is 5k and it literally just adds 100km to range.
I’m getting a Pro Plus next week. Any hints or tips? Are there any owners on here that have had problems?
Are you getting #1 or #3? It is brand new or exdemo/prereg?
#1 pre reg
Are Smart being discontinued in Ireland due to disappointing sales ?Heard a rumour they were.
I hope not, I look forward to Smart #5.
Are they going to launch Smart #5 in Ireland or are they abandoning us? The #1 and #3 don’t seem to be selling at all.
Neighbours of ours have a #1. So that's at least 1 sold 🙂
I know someone who has #3. Thats another sold lol. Really sad not to see them doing well. They are lovely cars inside.
There’s a Smart 3- 2024 going for just under 35k on Carzone-it doesn’t have a particularly great range nor does it have anything other than a standard warranty for this money - I think it’s a great looking car and quite unique on the roads - but would you be stuck for servicing in years to come I wonder? Can’t see smart lasting too long in Ireland given current sales - it’s a heart car not a head car in my view
The fact they don't launch #5 (and #1 refresh) would worry me about long term future of those cars in Ireland.
are they not owned by Mercedes partly?
The few times I have sen them has been tucked in a corner of Mercedes garage and there has been no great push to market the brand here.
The smart #5 is the forthcoming Mercedes GLB in a different suit from what I have read
Smart are still considered to be a micro 2-seater car brand here. Shaking off that old look will take a lot of time.
If they do pull out you will still have the expansive Mercedes dealership network for your servicing and parts and there are EU rules around supporting vehicles for (I think) 10 years after the car is sold
Ah stop with your common sense- I wanted to be talked out of buying one 😀
If/when I do buy an EV this Smart 3 will likely be a consideration - it does look well
Their sales are up in 2025.
But mostly because 183 were sold in June for some reason.
I wonder if they preregistered them in June or if people actually bought them at discount prices.
There was deals floating around on done deal in June if memory serves.
They pre regged their remaining stock at the end of June, many of which are still sitting in dealers.
Why would they do it just before new plates? Was there any law change that would make those cars illegal to register on 1st July?
