How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

Most HEOs never get a sniff of overtime, just as well because those overtime arrangements are a joke
I can't see anything happening other than 1% across the board, in the civil service at least.
I was offered overtime once in my over 30 years service, and that was for one day, a Saturday, to finalise briefing material for the Sec Gen's appearance before the Public Accounts Committee. That was after a week of working until midnight every night for which time-in-lieu was offered.
In my experience, overtime in the CS is not common, and has to be approved in advance though it may be different in departments other than the ones I've worked in.
My public sector OT is a joke and I refuse to do it, not worth my time away from kids.
1.25 salary capped at Grade V rate for the 1st 4 hours
I think it's a pay cut for me to do OT
Midnight every night for a week for only time in lieu? You should have told them where to shove that.
Nothing short of exploitation.
I don't disagree.
But the truth is sometimes you'd get away with refusing, sometimes you simply can't. It came with the territory of that particular role.
Definitely, this is what happened last time in the CS.
Sector, not grade.
When the HSE was hacked, a few years back, I did burn the candle at both ends to make sure we were not vulnerable.
Sometimes you have to, but voluntary overtime or on-call? Nope
There's a difference between an unforseen event, and a scheduled event which was not planned for.
Well, yeah, that's my point. I'll roll up the sleeves in an emergency but no way am I doing it as routine
If this is passed, when would we expect it see it in our wages.
New to local government so am unsure how long this process takes.
Euro zone inflation expectations edge up for 2024 - ECB
ECB expects compensation per employee to rise by 4.6% this year.
ECB said it could take more than another year to get it down to its 2% target, despite a record string of interest rate hikes and anaemic economic growth.
Loads of no votes here
When its passed.
Im not even sure when the ballot closes for forsa.
I did OT along with a few colleagues on a tribunal in the evenings. We all got our first payslip and I calculated it out.
We were getting paid less than our increment plus had the costs of travelling to the job.
When everyone saw it on the white board behind my desk we all refused to do it much to the disgust of the AP in charge of it. It got to a point where they phoned my boss on holiday and asked that we be made do it....needless to say the AP was told were to go and we all took great delight in the story later.
2025 if you're lucky😀
OT isn't compulsory. The Unions should always push for an allowance rather than OT where feasible.
I would say end of April paycheck (optimistically)
But I can see a no
.w
Well balloting runs till March 25th so....
Id guess it'll be 85% percent yes or more.
Given that the ballot is online, do Forsa see the numbers coming in and campaign accordingly?
That's a good question.
You should ask them, no sarcasm.
It will be interesting to see how the vote pans out and whether our boards contributors are representative of the PS at large.
Probably pass but I would love it to be close to prove that they were weaker than should be.
I'm surprised by the amount of no votes in my office though
Out of about 20 ive spoken to only one has been a no. Possibly thats just what they are saying and perhaps when they are voting then 19 will vote no. Lol.
Eh, no. Because the last thing HEOs and below grades need is unlimited hours like APs and above have.
This thread is not representative in the slightest.
After it passes there will be a rake of posts about how stupid the 80+% are for voting yes.
It wouldnt be compulsory. Work oustide of core hours never is. Haha re AP's. Good one. The majority in my dept. Have a local agreement around flexi.
Most of my office who are in the union are voting no. Even our union rep is voting no. The world is ending.
