How do people feel about this one? Will it be short and sweet?

Tossed in my NO vote just now :)
No for me
85% + or more you say, eh?
Thank you for this. I figured I'd be back of the list. I'll keep an eye on it myself and will get back in touch with HR about it if need be
I must get out the calculator and check if this makes up for the fall in real wages during recent years.
A NO from me also.
Anyone who votes for this deal doesn't understand Mathematics and inflation because this deal doesn't even keep up with the price rises that occurred in 2022 or 2023 never mind the years for which the deal is designed for 2024-June 2026.
Or that they don't want to strike over a possible extra 1-2% of 2.5 years!
which will continue for the rest of your career or not as case may be
the government has plenty of money why should workers take the hit for cost of living increases
We bought the same 20 items in Tesco and Aldi one year on - and the results are eye-opening
food for thought when deciding whether to accept the great pay deal
I'd be surprised if only 85% of Forsa's membership voted for this deal. Forsa has recommended it. But let's be clear, Forsa's membership is not really a fair representation of the civil service. It disproportionately represents long serving staff, staff who are high up the pay scales on better pension schemes. These aren't the ones feeling the effects of the cost of living crisis or the housing disaster.
Very few newer staff in my area join the union. Some argue it's cost. Some just don't have any faith in Forsa.
It'll pass for sure. But it wont be those struggling who vote it through. Just let's hope it's not as bad a deal as the last one proved to be.
And that's why we got less than those on the dole.
Currently €13 for 750ml of Olive Oil in Tesco (no reduction for having their club card). This sort of stuff is going on right across the economy but, hey, our pittance of a rise might help to buy a mars bar a week.
Yes from me. Like most others when the results come in. I find it odd it’s the complete opposite on the thread. Maybe we should put up a poll for the craic, not sure how though.
Not even close.
The effect of the last deal on our standard of living was shocking and this one makes no real effort to compensate. So I have voted No.
So when does all this get put to the workers ? I haven't heard a whisper from the TUI with regard to it?
Do you just make stuff up and try to manifest that its the truth?
This deal combined with the last deal far outstrip inflation over 2022-2023. Like its not particularly close. Does it match it from 2022-2026? No.
You're right, you don't understand maths.
From SIPTU:
"The ICTU Public Services Committee (PSC) will meet on Monday, 25th March, to aggregate the results of all ballots. The PSC will then accept or reject the package based on aggregated union ballot results."
TUI have until then to ballot members. I have heard from SIPTU but not received my ballot. They still shockingly use paper ballot.
Huh.
You can get 750ml of olive oil in Aldi for under 3.50.
No wonder public procurement is always getting robbed.
Really?
Are you aware that when the Department of Health upgraded hospitals from the 1980s to roughly the mid noughties they did so entirely through the public sector? Also they rarely overran their budgets and their various projects more or less came in on time.
Then came tendering to the private sector . . . and we ended up with a 2.5 billion hospital.
You may want to know that olive oil isn't all the same either.
lol I’m sure there is plenty of economists in the Dept of Finance voting yes and there is certainly plenty of accountants in my area voting yes. Everyone is in different positions in life and with their salary and a lot are happy with the deal. I would have never expected a deal to keep up with extreme inflation.
Wow. You want to use the health as an example of the gang that stay within budget?
How far over budget are the HSE over this year? a billion? give or take?
I can see why you struggle with your weekly shop.
Wow. Someone likes to troll and ignore facts.
It'll be a yes from me.
It's a solid deal and at over 3.6bn over 2.5 years is barely on the cusp of what's fiscally sustainable imo.
Most parts of society are down on inflation over the last 2 years but there have been other measures like energy credits to be considered.
Last time out 90% of posters here said no and 90% of voting members said yes, so 85% is very possible.
I think you're remembering that incorrectly. Most were against it until the backpay part of it was announced. That swung most people.
I’d say very likely.
So basically what you are saying is you are happy to wait until 2026 to get compensation for price rises which occurred in 2022-23.
It doesn't "far outstrip" anything, either. We lost out approx 6.5% over the last deal (even after adjustment) and this deal makes no real attempt to compensate for that. Taxes rise in line with inflation, private business increase prices in line with inflation (or more!) but we're just expected to suck it up. No.
I didn't comment on whether I would vote yes or not. For the record, I am undecided and leaning towards no. Ask me tomorrow and I could lean towards yes.
(Comment I responded to): Anyone who votes for this deal doesn't understand Mathematics and inflation because this deal doesn't even keep up with the price rises that occurred in 2022 or 2023 never mind the years for which the deal is designed for 2024-June 2026.
I commented that the previous deal and current deal far outstrips inflation in 2022 & 2023 combined. I stated the above quote is clearly false. This deal when combined with the last deal does indeed "keep up with the price rises that occurred in 2022 or 2023" (and I am ignoring the use of the word "or" assuming the OP means "and"). Or do you wish to claim the above quote is correct?
Please don't put words in my mouth. I clearly stated that the deal is behind inflation from 2022-26 but ahead of inflation 2022-23.
Is any of my statement factually incorrect?
Not on this forum. We even had someone say they were leaving their union because the vote didn’t go their way.
stand together, as long as you agree with me
I’ve no idea how the vote will go. I just know that any projections based on this thread are folly
Yes on this forum. I remember because I was one of the few left on here who were against it, and it was quite frustrating how so many had been bought off by the little bit of backpay.
