The problem with this analysis, is that Trump won't play by the election rules. Interestingly , according to the info - 97% of the money raised came from donations of $200 or less.
So it's not Corporate donors for the most part.
That's massive news IMO. The Trump campaign has always made hay with its claims of popular support by virtue of the number of small $ donors.
That Biden and the DNC have done so well in that cohort? Deserves to be front and centre of the Dems campaigning.
$130m? Wow, that's incredible. That's almost a quarter of the legal fines Trump has to pay for being a fraudulent tax-dodging slanderous sex abuser.
It's a good sign alright , but probably tempered a little by the fact that I'd say the big corporate donors haven't gotten properly involved as there's no "campaign" to speak of yet as there isn't really a Primary campaign to fight.
But raising that kind of money from that group if very impressive none the less and when the big guns come on stream in the next few months that cash advantage could be maintained.
Trump is gobbling up all the cash and has made it clear that he wants the majority (if not all) of the RNC cash too.
He spent $50M last year on lawyers and given the legal roadmap , he'll likely need to spend more than that this year as well.
That is going to be a massive drag on his ability to compete on the ground.
Its probably not a reflection on the popularity or otherwise of Biden, its fear of/concern about the alternative.
Just a slight correction, 97% of the donations were $200 or less which is not the same as 97% of the money donated being made up of $200 donations.
Basically there's still likely some large corporate donations albeit just not a lot of them
But if he's an unpopular as some on here would have you believe, I doubt he could pull in that money.
