I feel this is a bit crazy and deserves its own thread if one does not already exist.
Place has gone to the dogs
What a joke.
Fools running this country.
This government is barking mad
Did the government pay for them to bring over their cars too?
This was known about at the very early stages of refugees landing in Ireland.
Doesn't surprise me in the least. Money no object with this government when it comes to being the best boys in class in Europe.
Not so quick to spend it when their own population need it.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, today (Thursday 7 December 2023) announced funding of €6 million to 101 animal welfare charities nationwide - an increase of €200,000 on last year.
This will really boil your balls.
Deputy Holly Cairns. Greyhound racing has been in decline for decades. Ireland is one of only ten countries in the world where commercial greyhound racing is still legal in 2023. Since the Government took office, it has given €74 million to the greyhound racing industry, with €19 million allocated in budget 2024
I won't publish the figures for the horsies. Could give someone an attack.
Your latter two points fully boil mine anyway! At least in the case of the animal charities they are working on rehabilitating and rehoming pets or animals that the population caused some form of harm to in some way shape or form(Many of which are probably ex greyhounds and ex racehorses etc).
Sure the great Irish citizens were mad to house some pet Ukrainians when the war broke out...now those Ukrainians are well entitled to house their own pets...
Chickens come home to roost....
Rufffff!
19million to keep a bunch of dogs running in a circle?
Ban gambling at horse and dog racing at they will disappear in a day.
Funny this government are fond of accusing the opposition of having a magic money tree when the opposition criticise them over services were the government are only paying a lipservice but when it comes to the National children's hospital or when the want to show they are best boys in class money seems to be no problem. The question would have to be asked are the government diverting money from services in this country to provide the supports for people coming here? I am sure that the government don't have a magic money tree like they accuse the opposition.
That's far more a satisfactory spending of public money instead of the Womens Council of Ireland and Alcohol Action Ireland. Maybe we can defund the latter and import more Ukrainian pets.
I'd like to know how our(Pascals) rainy day fund is doing myself.
When children with scoliosis can’t even get surgeries, but this money tree for Ukrainians is never ending
Just the latest insult in a long line of insults to those of us who actually go out and work, pay our taxes etc and get more or less nothing back for it. The social contract in this country for those of us who actually play by the rules, or try to, is completely destroyed. That's it, back to work now and just suck it all up, and God forbid your child might need some surgery to save their mobility.
€14.5bn in 2021 according to the Examiner. I presume there has been more put in since.
Missile warning in Kyviv. First thing I do is take my pets, they're not going slow me down fleeing for my life
It's a disgrace Joe
